CHICAGO—A flag-raising ceremony and prayer service took place on the grounds of The National Center, on July 4 to commemorate Point No. 12 of “What the Muslims Believe,” which states: “WE BELIEVE that Allah (God) appeared in the Person of Master W. Fard Muhammad, July, 1930: the long-awaited ‘Messiah’ of the Christians and ‘Mahdi’ of the Muslims.”

Master W. Fard Muhammad taught and raised the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, Eternal Leader of the Nation of Islam, who back Their Divine Servant, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.

The ceremony marked 96 years of declared independence for the Black man and woman of America. Master Fard Muhammad gave us a flag, representing the Universe: the sun, moon and stars and declared Black men and women a free people.

Student Minister Ishmael R. Muhammad, National Assistant to the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, led a special prayer service in the musallah (prayer hall) at Mosque Maryam. Afterward, attendees witnessed and participated in the flag-raising ceremony. —The Final Call
