CHICAGO—Muslims from the Nation of Islam Chicago West Side Study Group organized an elegant black-tie dinner on October 4, held at The Salaam Restaurant on the city’s South Side. The purpose of the dinner was to bring people together from different walks of life.

“We want our people to be exposed to the best that the Nation of Islam has to offer in terms of etiquette, refinement and righteous fun,” explained event hosts Brother D’Aundre Muhammad and Brother Ron Muhammad.
“Lastly and most importantly, we want to express our love and dedication to our beloved Minister [the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan], who has sacrificed his entire life in the mission of raising the Black man and woman.”
Attendees enjoyed a three-course meal prepared by Sister Haniyyah Muhammad of navy bean soup and salad; a vegetarian, salmon, or chicken entree; and the Supreme Bean Pie for dessert.
Guests also enjoyed dancing and upbeat music played by Brother Demetrius 3X and saxophonist-player, Brother Rahim “The Sax Preacher” Aton.
Student Minister Caleb Muhammad of the city’s West Side thanked Allah (God) and Brothers Ron, Bro. D’Aundre and Bro. Marvel. “The idea came from the West Side [Study Group], but the spirit and energy brought believers from all sides of town.”
Bro. Ron told The Final Call, “When I saw everybody sit down, the turnout was a great success! We did what we had to do to make it happen. This is the foundation we’re standing on!” he continued.
Sister Marcella X said she enjoyed herself at the gathering. “The Sax Preacher was awesome, the food was delicious; lots of smiles and everyone enjoyed themselves,” she said.
The West Side Study Group expressed their gratitude to the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, the M.G.T. and F.O.I. and The Salaam Restaurant staff for the assistance in making the black-tie dinner a success.
