DETROIT—For more than two decades, during Saviours’ Day, the Children’s Village has stood as a vibrant testament to love in action—an offering to the youngest among us, faithfully sponsored each year by Mother Khadijah Farrakhan, First Lady of the Nation of Islam and the wife of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.
Designed as a two-day experience of joy, learning, and just plain fun, Mother Khadijah Farrakhan’s Children’s Village has welcomed thousands of children from across the Nation. From moon bounces and basketball courts to arts-and-crafts tables buzzing with creativity, every corner of the Children’s Village reflects careful thought and maternal care.
A popular gift shop allows each child to select two books and two toys—ensuring they leave not only with smiles but also with tools for growth and imagination. This year’s Children’s Village was held Feb. 20 and 21.
The Saturday, Feb. 21 highlight came with Mother Khadijah’s personal appearance to watch the children’s performances. Her presence, attentive and warm, underscored the spirit behind the Children’s Village.
The joy heightened even further as the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan drove through the area, greeting the children and families who gathered with excitement and gratitude.
For parents, the Mother Khadijah Farrakhan’s Children’s Village represents more than entertainment. It is a sanctuary. Sister Naima Muhammad, a mother of five from Mosque No. 25 in Newark, New Jersey, shared her appreciation with The Final Call.

areas and performances for all to enjoy.

“I love that they’re (the children) safe. I feel like they’re safe around their own,” she said. “Mother Khadijah and the team have so many wonderful, different areas for the children to learn and grow. It’s just amazing.”
Safety, belonging, and development are themes echoed by many who travel long distances to attend. Sister Taneese Muhammad of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, also a mother of five, emphasized the balance of fun and purpose. “They get to exert a lot of energy and have a lot of fun and do what children love to do. As a parent, I love that they offer this,” she said.
Ronald Muhammad, a father, also from Fort Lauderdale, agreed, describing the Children’s Village as “a friendly place, where the children can come and have a good time. They can enjoy themselves without worrying about anything. It brings them happiness and joy.”
He reflected on the deeper significance of the gathering. “The fact that the Mother of the Faithful, Mother Khadijah, took so much care to provide this for the children is special. I love seeing the smiles brought to every young person who has the opportunity to come and enjoy themselves.”
Those smiles were easy to find. Nine-year-old Sister Tasha Muhammad from Detroit, Michigan, paused between the bouncy house and the arts-and-crafts table to share her excitement. “I love the Children’s Village. It’s so much fun, and you can meet new friends here too,” she said, before rushing off to join the festivities.
Beyond the games and gifts, the Children’s Village embodies a principle long taught within the Nation of Islam: that the future rests in the careful cultivation of the young.
Through structure, creativity, safety, and love, Mother Khadijah Farrakhan has ensured that, for over 20 years, thousands of children experience a space designed specifically for their happiness and development.
In a world often marked by uncertainty, Mother Khadijah Farrakhan’s Children’s Village offers something steady and profound—a reminder that when children are nurtured within community, surrounded by care and protected among their own, joy becomes both possible and transformative.
