COLUMBIA, S.C.—Joy, happiness and gratitude were experienced at Muhammad Mosque No. 38 in Columbia, South Carolina, recently. In an evening of friendship, good food, and music, a Believers Appreciation Dinner was held November 22 to say “thank you” for their steadfast dedication to the cause of Islam.

In the Nation of Islam, the believers are men and women who answered the invitation and call of Allah (God), through His divine and faithful servants, the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan. The F.O.I. (Fruit of Islam) and M.G.T. and G.C.C. (Muslim Girls Training and General Civilization Class) strive to live their lives for a cause bigger than themselves in the footsteps of the followers of Moses and Aaron, the disciples of Jesus, and the companions of Prophet Muhammad—peace be upon them.

“We know in our work and labor, we’re always on the go, constant, fast-thinking, quick-moving, right down to the modern time,” said Student Minister Anthony Muhammad, referencing part of The Supreme Wisdom Lessons. “And so, we wanted to take the opportunity to show that we appreciate each other, make time to enjoy one another, in friendship, fun, and giving something to the ones who have come before us; even with hardships, they’re still working.”

The underlying spirit of the occasion was from the Holy Qur’an verse affirming that Allah (God) wastes not the work of any worker. Complementing the evening’s ambiance, a Dedication Award was given to Student Minister Carl Muhammad, who previously led Mosque No. 38 and Perseverance Awards were given to former Student M.G.T. and G.C.C. Captain Dianna Muhammad and the writer of this article, Brother Brian E. Muhammad.

The believers are the beloved of God and Islam is a way of life that includes a lifetime mission of service and change. The evening was a celebration and an encouragement for all of the believers to remain steadfast.

“We look at the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan—at 92 years of age—still in the fight. We want them to follow his example: don’t stop,” said Student Min. Anthony Muhammad.
