Muslims of Mosque No. 24 in Richmond, Va., with proclamation from the mayor’s office commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the historic 1995 Million Man March.

RICHMOND, Va.—Muslims of Muhammad Mosque No. 24 in Richmond, Virginia, observed the 30th Anniversary of the historic Million Man March and Holy Day of Atonement on October 16 with a day of service in the community.

The brothers and sisters gave out over 200 personal care packets, food items, clothing, Final Call newspapers, and flyers to invite residents to the mosque meetings.

It was truly a joy serving and talking with members of the community. These were great events leading up to our Holy Day of Atonement weekend.

On October 18, we hosted a panel discussion about the 1995 Million Man March which was called by the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan. The event was in partnership with community members at New Life Deliverance Tabernacle Church, including church member Charles Wills.

Panelists shared the spiritual significance of the March, the Atonement process, the Pledge, and the role women played in helping to organize the Million Man March.

Prior to starting the discussion, Student Minister Tracy Muhammad, Student Protocol Director Nasirah Muhammad, believers of Muhammad Mosque No. 24 and Mr. Wills, were presented with a Proclamation commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the Million Man March from the City of Richmond’s Mayor’s Office.

On October 19, we had a standing-room-only audience that attended the special webcast, live-streamed from Mosque Maryam in Chicago. Long live the spirit of the Million Man March!
