CHICAGO—The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan was among the special guest honorees to receive an “Award of Appreciation” at the New World Passover’s (NWP) 50th annual celebration near the Hales Franciscan High School on the city’s Southside.
The New World Passover consists of the Hebrew-Israelite community of the late Nasik (Prince) Asiel Ben Israel, International Ambassador of The Original Hebrew Israelite Nation. Prince Asiel was an impactful religious leader, world traveler, businessman and friend to Minister Farrakhan, the Black community and poor and suffering people across the globe.
Student Minister Ishmael Muhammad, National Assistant to Minister Farrakhan accepted the award during the NWP’s celebration on behalf of Minister Farrakhan.
The event was held June 2.
The celebration commemorates the Hebrew-Israelites who migrated from the United States to Israel in the 1960s. The journey is known as the “New World Passover.”
Claudette Marie Muhammad, former Chief Protocol Director of the Nation of Islam, was also among the honorees. She said it was a “wonderful” celebration with much to be remembered.
“The event was fabulous. It reminded me of the times in Israel where we all came together,” Sister Claudette said. “I felt exceptionally honored. … Brother Ishmael talked about how we all have to come together and work together in order to survive.”
The former protocol director said she was humbled to receive an award, but she was most excited to hear that Minister Farrakhan received one as well. She said the NWP community has great respect for the Minister and his more than 60 years of service to the Black and poor community.
Arel Ben Israel, one of the sons of the late Prince Asiel Ben Israel said of Minister Farrakhan, “He’s been a friend of his for say, 50 years to Prince (Asiel) and to the community.”
Arel Israel said it was his pleasure to be a part of the celebration and for the awardees to be appreciated.
