“And We will set up a just balance on the day of Resurrection, so no soul will be wronged in the least. And if there be the weight of a grain of mustard seed, We will bring it. And Sufficient are We to take account.”

—Holy Qur’an Surah 21, verse 47

In the Nation of Islam’s Sacred Writings of Lessons, we are made aware that, “Big fields are awaiting for the wide awake man to work out.” This statement is given in the language of a Master. What is the field, and what does a wide awake man look like in his work? The field is the world, and the wide awake man or woman is the one who is consciously aware that his or her journey to God may require a journey of a lifetime or of several lifetimes in his journey to find God.

Language is insufficient in expressing the quality of that lifetime journey, for it is observed in silence and manifested in activity. An active mind, and an active, energetic thought carries the nurturing seeds that ripen in stages into the perfection of self and the correct understanding of God. Knowledge. God means a Power or a Force that sustains the whole of the Divine Creation. What we think we know may not exist as really knowing anything at all. We may experience a sensation or feeling of knowing, but only in acknowledging that we don’t really know, can God, The All Knowing One, reveal Himself to us in all states of the Spiritual Consciousness of our mind which is our only True Reality.

What does it mean to arise or raise the dead by the thousands? Could it mean to arise the thousands and trillions of our dead brain cells back to life after death? Why are we referred to as the dead nation that must arise, and that the time is at hand? Are we not called by society the walking dead who were so deeply put to sleep, that we think we are living, while we are yet quite dead? We are called the dead because we yet have no knowledge of self or of God and are easy to lead in the wrong direction and hard to lead in the right direction. But yet we are called the righteous, the best and powerful by God, Himself.

The Divine Teachings of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad are intended to awaken a dead nation of people in the midst of America by giving us a chance of survival against the odds that we could never be awakened or survive our over 400 years of servitude slavery under the worse taskmasters known in the chronology of world history. The advice of the Master is for us to work cheerfully and to fear not! We can arise from the victimization of self and find happiness and peace of mind by dwelling on the God within. This is where we will truly find God and be awakened out of our mental and spiritual enslavement.

“And certainly We gave Moses and Aaron the criterion and a light and a reminder for those who keep from evil, Who fear their Lord in secret and they are fearful of the Hour. And this is a blessed Reminder, which We have revealed. Will you then deny it?”

—Holy Qur’an, Surah 21, verses 48-50
