CHICAGO—The divinely guided words of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan have reached throughout the world via lectures that could be listened to and watched over the years on cassette tapes, VHS/Beta tapes, CDs, DVDs, MP3, and most recently via the streaming service app and platform of Final Call Radio.
Final Call Radio recently celebrated its 5-year anniversary with a live, interactive radiothon.
On June 10, The Final Call Administration building located at 734 W. 79th Street in Chicago opened its doors to host members of the Nation of Islam and community residents to experience The Final Call Radiothon. The program was streamed live on the Nation of Islam’s website, noi.org, and on Final Call Radio.
The event provided an opportunity for the viewing and listening audience to learn more about the history of The Final Call as an institution and storehouse of knowledge for the Teachings of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.
Brother Michael Amir served as the emcee for the evening and began the program by sharing a brief history of Minister Farrakhan’s dedication and sacrifice in acquiring The Final Call Administration building while working to rebuild the Nation of Islam. The historic building was once a bank and a funeral home before being transformed into The Final Call.
Final Call Radio is an additional and important platform for sharing the life-giving Teachings of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, as taught by His National Representative, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan. The content is streamed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and reaches millions of listeners in countries around the world.
The platform was conceived by Brother Michael Saunders, who serves as the executive director of Final Call Radio, and Student Supreme Captain Mustapha Farrakhan, son of Minister Farrakhan and Mother Khadijah Farrakhan.
Throughout the evening, speakers and presenters shared the importance of the platform while sharing the history of The Final Call as an entity.
“I want to thank the man for who if it were not for him, we wouldn’t be sitting here, and that is the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, and I would also like to thank our Supreme Captain (Mustapha Farrakhan) for his vision and his thought to help to create The Final Call Radio to further expand the reach of the Word of God,”
Said Student Minister Abdul Arif Muhammad, who serves as the Nation of Islam’s general counsel and is a member of the Shura Executive Council. Student Min. Arif also previously served as general manager and editor-in-chief of The Final Call newspaper.
Student Minister and Final Call General Manager Abdul Rasul Muhammad shared the impact of Minister Farrakhan on his life as a young man. He shared with the audience that he first heard Minister Farrakhan during his time in college, and his life was changed forever.
During the radiothon, video clips of Muslims from around the world, including Paris, Serbia, the Netherlands, and Holland, expressed their love and gratitude for Final Call Radio. Social media messages were also shown from people and supporters showing their love for Final Call Radio.
A video excerpt of Minister Farrakhan sharing the importance of the platform during its one-year anniversary was also shown. “What a joy it is to talk to all of you who listen to The Final Call Radio, and we’re walking and talking, and we’re one year old.
I guess if we did that with our mothers and fathers, start walking and talking at one year, they would know they had a genius. I want to personally thank my wonderful son, Mustapha, for pushing this through with the help of our beloved brother, Michael Saunders,” Minister Farrakhan said.
Brother Michael Saunders shared a message in a video. “I want to thank The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan for allowing me to serve in this capacity and trusting me with his weighty word. Over the last five years, we have approached, reached, touched 149 countries.
We are streaming to more than 6.5 million people on a regular basis. This is more than just a radio station, it is a divine platform, and we thank Allah (God) for blessing us to hear the voice of His servant in our midst, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.”
Student Supreme Captain Mustapha Farrakhan also shared a poignant message via video. “When the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan first accepted the Teachings of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad.
He said that he would take this message that he received to every nook and cranny of the United States of America. The Minister made his word bond, and that’s all we’re taught to do is to augment what the Minister said and take this message to every corner of the globe.”
Student National Assistant to the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, Brother Ishmael Muhammad, shared his reflections. “What a blessing it is to be on this journey. What a blessing it has been in my life since I was a shorty to walk with the man of God, the anointed one, of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad.
To be back in this place (Final Call building) and as a young teenager, I remember walking with Minister Farrakhan in this building before he purchased it. It was once a bank and then a funeral home, so it is a good place for the resurrection.
So many wonderful memories in this building and I thank you on behalf of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and the Shura Executive Council, Brother Rasul, and the staff for keeping this building maintained and preserved because it is a historical landmark,” he said.
“I want to thank our Student Supreme Captain of the Nation of Islam, Brother Mustapha Farrakhan, for developing and putting this Final Call Radio out so that the whole world can hear, uncensored, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan,” Student Min. Ishmael added.
During the evening, the life and work of Final Call Editor-in-Chief, Brother Naba’a Muhammad, was recognized and honored. Bro. Naba’a passed away on June 6. Student Minister Abdul Rasul and former Final Call Editor-in-Chief and current Contributing Editor James G. Muhammad reflected on the tremendous love and dedication Bro.
Naba’a had to Allah (God), the Mission of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and The Final Call. A video clip of Minister Farrakhan expressing his gratitude to Bro. Naba’a (formerly Richard Muhammad), for a press release he wrote on the Minister’s behalf while he was visiting Islamic Republic of Iran, was shown during the broadcast.
Prior to the broadcast, the M.G.T. and G.C.C. (Muslim Girls Training and General Civilization Class, the women of the Nation of Islam) distributed food outside of The Salaam Restaurant, which is located next door to the Final Call Administration building. There was also entertainment with hip hop artists who performed for those gathered outside of the Salaam parking lot. It was an enjoyable and inspiring evening.
Former Student National M.G.T. Captain Charlene Muhammad stated, “I currently labor as a customer service representative for the Final Call, and I started in 2011. This building is historic, we would not be here were it not for the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, and the vision that he had for the Nation of Islam.”
Bro. Michael Amir stated that he was honored to host the Final Call Radiothon. “It was my honor to host the radiothon. We are going to continue to spread this message,” he said.
Sister Brianna X also enjoyed the evening. “I love listening to the Final Call Radio when I am up and especially when I am down. Nothing can pick me up but the Word of God.”
