DETROIT—The Holy Qur’an workshop, moderated by Sister Jadayah Muhammad, brought together an esteemed panel that included Student National Imam Sultan Rahman Muhammad, Brother Robby X, Sister Tairah Muhammad, Student Minister and Student Imam Abdul Salaam Muhammad, and Student Minister Abdul Muthakkir Muhammad.

The session was rich with spiritual insight, deep reflection, and a shared conviction of the Holy Qur’an’s divine role in the evolution and nourishment of the believer.

Student Imam Sultan Rahman Muhammad set the tone of the discussion by emphasizing that the Holy Qur’an is the root of the believer’s evolution and nourishment. This simple yet profound etymology reflects the Holy Qur’an’s purpose as a living, spoken word meant to be internalized and enacted, not simply read.

The imam highlighted that true spiritual growth is only possible when one engages with the Holy Qur’an as a guide to personal and communal transformation.

Several panelists reflected on how the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad was given 104 books by Allah (God) in the Person of Master Fard Muhammad to read and study.

Among all of them, the Holy Qur’an was proclaimed the best. This insight illuminated the Qur’an’s authority for divine guidance, moral refinement, and nation-building.

The panelists reaffirmed that this sacred text has been the source of renewal not only for individuals but for entire communities seeking liberation from spiritual and social oppression.

Student Min. Abdul Salaam Muhammad drew powerful connections between the Qur’an’s teachings and the Mission of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad. He noted that: “The Holy Qur’an became a blueprint for the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad to take us out of jahiliyyah (ignorance).”

This blueprint aimed to transform believers into walking Qur’ans—living embodiments of divine principle who carry Sharia (Islamic Law) wherever they go.

He also reminded the audience of the words of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him): “The one who recites the Holy Qur’an is in an intimate conversation with his Lord.”

In closing reflections, panelists stressed the importance of turning to the Holy Qur’an in times of difficulty. Just as a child nurses from its mother and receives both physical nourishment and emotional peace, the Believer who “nurses” from the Qur’an draws spiritual contentment from Allah (God).

This powerful metaphor encapsulated the workshop’s essence: through continuous engagement with the Qur’an, the believer is renewed, sustained, and drawn closer to divine tranquility.

The workshop closed with a Qur’anic recitation given by youth reciter Sister Samadiah Muhammad, daughter of Sis. Leah and Bro. Clarence Muhammad.. Her beautiful recitation of the opening verses of Surah 55 – Al Rahman, delighted the audience. It is worthy to note that Sis.

Samadiah has memorized 18 parts (juz) of the Qur’an, leaving 12 until her completion of memorizing the entire Qur’an. She is on track to completion in August, Insha’Allah (God-willing).

The Holy Qur’an workshop served as a profound reminder that this sacred text is both a mirror and a map—reflecting who we are while guiding us toward who we are destined to become.
