Anticipation is spreading across the country as thousands prepare to travel to Detroit for “The Crowning Event of Black History Month”: the Nation of Islam’s annual Saviours’ Day convention. Saviours’ Day 2026 will take place at the Huntington Place on Feb. 19-22.
Saviours’ Day is the annual commemoration of the birth anniversary of the Nation of Islam’s founder, Master W. Fard Muhammad, Allah (God) in Person and The Great Mahdi, born on February 26, 1877, in the Holy City of Mecca, Arabia.

Master Fard Muhammad traveled 9,000 miles to North America in search of the lost Black man and woman. He appeared in Black Bottom, Detroit, on July 4, 1930, as the long-awaited Mahdi of the Muslims and Messiah of the Christians.
For nearly three and one-half years, Master Fard Muhammad taught the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, Eternal Leader of the Nation of Islam, night and day.
In honor of Master Fard Muhammad, the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad convened the first Saviours’ Day convention, a tradition that has continued through the work of His National Representative, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.
The theme for this year’s Saviours’ Day convention comes from the Holy Qur’an, Surah (Chapter) 94, verse 8: “And make thy Lord thy exclusive object.” The keynote message from the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, delivered by his Student National Assistant, Minister Ishmael Muhammad, is titled, “We Must Make Our Community a Decent and Safe Place to Live.”
“In order for us to make our community a decent and safe place to live, God has to be in the forefront. He has to be at the center in order for us to accomplish this command, which is a divine command,” Student Minister Ishmael Muhammad said to The Final Call.
The Nation of Islam’s Shura Executive Council, Student Minister Troy Muhammad and laborers of Muhammad Mosque No. 1 in Detroit and the believers in Detroit are working hard to finalize Saviours’ Day preparations.
“To come home to Detroit where Master Fard Muhammad walked, where Master Fard Muhammad met the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and put Him on the mission of resurrecting our people.

Whenever we’re able to come back to that space, I believe it’s a very important space to be in, and it has spiritual significance, because this is not just the city, but this is holy ground for the Nation of Islam,” Student Minister Troy Muhammad said to The Final Call.
The believers in Detroit have been going door-to-door, spreading the word that the Nation of Islam is returning to the city for its annual commemoration. “The believers are excited, the city is excited, and we’re ready to host Saviours’ Day 2026,” Student Minister Troy Muhammad said.
Two plenary sessions will take place: an opening plenary on the theme, “Make thy Lord thy exclusive object of worship: The Majesty and Love of Master Fard Muhammad,” on Friday, Feb. 20, and a closing plenary examining “What is the duty of a civilized person, and what is the meaning of civilization,” on Saturday, Feb. 21.

In between the two plenaries, believers can look forward to Salat-al-Jumuah, the Friday congregational prayer, and workshops on prayer, the Holy Qur’an, charity, fasting and Allah’s Divine Judgment.
“We will be observing Saviours’ Day for the first time (since 1993) during the Holy Month of Ramadan. That’s very significant,” Student Minister Ishmael Muhammad said. “We will be observing Ramadan and observing our prayers throughout the day, as Allah (God) has instructed.”
On Friday morning, Feb. 20, from 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m., martial arts and self-defense training will take place hosted by Student Assistant Supreme Captain Abdul Azziz Muhammad.
The Nation of Islam Historical Exhibit will also be a feature on Friday and Saturday.

Evening and social events on Feb. 20 include a singles meet and greet with approximately 600 single registered believers signed up, an awards banquet, an old school jam and line dancing event with more than 650 registrants, performances by the Nation of Islam Musical Ensemble and a chess tournament. The Nation of Islam Historic Exhibit will also be a feature.
This year’s banquet awardees include Student Southern Regional Minister Abdul Sharrieff Muhammad, pioneer Brother Thomas Jehad, Student Minister Donald Muhammad of St. Louis, former National M.G.T. and G.C.C.
Captain Betsy Jean Farrakhan, who is the daughter of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and Mother Khadijah Farrakhan, and pioneer Sister Aliyah Muhammad.
Posthumous recognition will be granted to pioneer Student Minister Abdul Karriem Muhammad, the late Final Call editors Brother Abdul Wali Muhammad and Brother Naba’a Muhammad, and Student Eastern Regional Minister Abdul Hafeez Muhammad.
On the morning of Feb. 21, believers can look forward to the private F.O.I. (Fruit of Islam) and M.G.T. (Muslim Girls’ Training) classes for the registered men and women of the Nation, followed by a private graduation for newly registered believers who accepted their own between 2025 and early 2026.

Every year, many Muslim children eagerly anticipate Mother Khadijah Farrakhan’s Children’s Village. Children can join in on the Saviours’ Day fun on Feb. 20 and 21 and can look forward to the annual village staple, “Mother Khadijah Farrakhan’s Gift Center.” Children must be registered in advance. Overall, the focus of this year’s Saviours’ Day is “Allah (God),” Student Minister Ishmael Muhammad said. “Our focus is on His Aim, His Will, His Purpose for coming, His choice of the Black man and woman of America, His Messenger, Messiah that He raised from us, the Honorable Elijah Muhammad and the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.”
“It promises to be a memorable, inspirational, spirit-filled Saviours’ Day, perhaps like we have never witnessed or experienced before,” he added.
