AM Electric Inc. celebrates 23 years of excellence and impact
PHILADELPHIA—In a city where businesses often fade, AM Electric has spent 23 years building a legacy of service, growth, and community impact. For the company’s founder, Brother Anthony Muhammad, this success is the result of perseverance and a deeply personal connection to the trade.
“My father was an electrician,” Brother Anthony shared in an interview with The Final Call. He picked up the trade in 1993 while working for the city, though he initially intended to pursue carpentry. “When an opportunity arose at the airport for an electrical helper position, I seized it.
That moment ignited my passion for electrical work.” From that pivotal moment, Brother Anthony’s path became clear. His growing interest in the electrical field led him to pursue a license, a process that included a life-changing meeting with the chief inspector in Philadelphia.
“He shared invaluable insights on obtaining my license, which ultimately set me on the path to launch my own business,” said Brother Anthony. A member of the Nation of Islam, he also serves as the Student Delaware Valley Regional F.O.I. Captain.
In 2003, Brother Anthony Muhammad founded AM Electric Incorporated, driven by a mission to provide exceptional work and unmatched customer service. “What inspired me to start the business was seeing how some contractors were mishandling customers and not doing a good job,” he explains.
“I wanted to change that narrative,” he added. Launching the business wasn’t just about fulfilling a personal dream; it was about addressing a community need.

Early on, he faced a critical decision when his side jobs in the electrical field began to grow. After securing a contract with the City of Philadelphia, he had to choose between his stable city job and pursuing AM Electric full-time. He chose to pursue his own business full-time.
The first year was a whirlwind of challenges, from navigating taxes and insurance to mastering the art of securing jobs. But Brother Anthony’s leap of faith paid off.
Since its inception, AM Electric has grown from a one-truck operation with a single employee to a thriving business with five trucks and 11 team members. “Our growth reflects our commitment to doing things right,” he emphasizes. The company specializes in a wide range of services, including residential wiring, new construction, and commercial projects.
Faith and integrity are central to Brother Anthony’s leadership and business philosophy. As the Student Delaware Valley Regional F.O.I. Captain and Student Captain of Mosque No. 12 in Philadelphia, Brother Anthony draws inspiration from the Teachings of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and exemplified by the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.
“Being a Muslim-owned business strengthens our resolve to serve our customers with honesty and dependability,” he shares. “The Teachings of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad.

Under the guidance and example of the Honorable Minister Farrakhan, and the principles of integrity guide his business,” he explained. “Our culture is about satisfaction and immediate rectification of any issues.”
Yet, these obstacles have only fueled the company’s resolve to adapt and grow. “We’ve improved our structure and operations, and it’s been a growing phase,” he adds.
Over the past two decades, AM Electric has weathered industry challenges, including the 2008 housing market crash and skyrocketing material costs. “The price of materials has tripled, and finding quality employees has been a challenge,” Brother Anthony admits.
As AM Electric celebrates 23 years of service, the company’s impact extends far beyond its projects. By hiring young men and women from the community and providing quality work for low-income homeowners and local businesses.
AM Electric has become a pillar of support in Philadelphia. “We actively hire from within our community, focusing on young talent,” he notes. “It’s essential to give back and provide opportunities.”
He also emphasizes the importance of legacy: “Longevity means the company will go on, even if I’m not around.”

The milestone has been met with heartfelt congratulations from colleagues, partners, and family members. On December 31, 2025, a celebratory luncheon was held to mark the occasion.
Joshua Kim from TAFJK Group shared, “Congratulations on 23 remarkable years in business with AM Electric. It has been our privilege to support your company as a digital marketing and website partner.
We wish you continued success in the years ahead.” Kim Carter from the Enterprise Center added, “That’s a huge accomplishment. I wish you another 23 years in business and, after that, a really happy retirement. Thank you for always being a great person to work with—a standup guy. Much continued success!”
Colby Miles from Top Tier Builders shared his admiration: “You’ve built something awesome. You have an incredible team and family surrounding you, and you give all of us young guys a lot of inspiration and motivation. Congratulations!”
Brother Anthony’s sons also expressed their pride, with one sharing, “Dad, I just want to wish you congratulations on 23 years of business. Everybody knows it’s not an easy thing to do, but you’ve managed to stay reputable year after year.

I’m proud to call you my dad and look up to you in the business world.” Another son added, “Watching you take everything from the bottom to where you are now has been humbling. You’ve put your heart into this business, and it shows. I’m proud of you, Dad, and I wish you all the success and happiness in the world.”
Looking to the future, AM Electric aims to expand its reach and the vision for the next five to 10 years includes more trucks, more employees, and a streamlined operation that can run independently of its founder. “Our goal is not just growth but sustaining a business built on integrity,” Brother Anthony said.
For aspiring entrepreneurs, Brother Anthony’s advice is clear: “Dedication and focus are key. Learn as much as you can about financing and business operations. Education is essential.”
With a reputation for excellence, a commitment to community, and a foundation of faith, AM Electric stands as a testament to perseverance. “Staying in business requires continuous learning and adaptation,” Brother Anthony continued. “But with dedication and a strong foundation, anything is possible,” he added.
