This year will mark the 250th birthday (Semiquincentennial) of the United States of America, which will commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.
There are grand events, celebrations, and parades scheduled, sure to be full of pomp and circumstance, as the country marks this historic moment. But what exactly will folks be celebrating?

The promises of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness,” and the statement that “all men are created equal,” outlined in the document, were always meant for White men only.
Since its inception, the United States has and continues to maintain its legacy of oppression, violence, and hatred toward Black and Indigenous people.
Each year since this country’s founding has been a constant reminder that the “promise” has been deliberately withheld from us. Why? Because we have never been viewed, considered, seen, or treated as citizens or “real” Americans.
A 2022 Pew Survey revealed that “Black Americans are pessimistic about their position in U.S. society.” Of the people surveyed, they noted the following: “Black Americans see little improvement in their lives despite increased national attention to racial issues;
Few Black adults expect equality for Black people in the U.S., Black adults say racism and police brutality are extremely big problems for Black people in the U.S.” and lastly, “Personal experiences with discrimination are widespread among Black Americans.”
This pessimism felt and lived by Black people, as outlined in the Pew survey, should not come as a surprise. We have always had to “work twice as hard, to get half as far” or be the docile “respectable Negro” to try to appease our slavemasters and their children to get into their “good graces.”
However, no matter what we do or have accomplished, Black people in America are always seen by most Whites as “other.”
The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, National Representative of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, pointed this out in Part 12 of his 58-week lecture series, “The Time and What Must Be Done.”

“In ‘The Great Seal’ of the United States of America, the first one that was commissioned to be designed in 1776, on the back of the Seal appeared a coat of arms of the six European nations that made up this new nation, this new country, ‘The United States of America.’ And all six of those nations were White; all six of those nations were European,” Minister Farrakhan explained.
“And if you get an old dictionary, and answered the question ‘What is an American?’—in those old dictionaries it will tell you it is ‘the people of Europe’ not including the Aboriginal People of the Earth.
This shows us that this country was never made for the Dark People of our planet; and, particularly for the Black man and woman of America, whom America mockingly calls ‘citizens,”’ he continued.
However, while our sojourn in America has been one of slavery, suffering, and death, Allah (God) has promised that our suffering will not be in vain. The people of America, Black and White, had and have two Divine Warners in our midst to caution those in authority and our open enemies that their time of rulership will not last forever and will come to an end.
The Holy Qur’an, the Islamic book of scripture, states in Surah 7, Ayat 34: “And every nation has a term; so when its term comes, they cannot remain behind the least while, nor can they precede (it).”
The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, the Eternal Leader of the Nation of Islam, made it plain throughout His book, “The Fall of America,” that Allah (God) is our Patron and will destroy America for its ill-treatment of Black and Indigenous people.
Around the world, America is seen as a peacebreaker and mischief-maker. And right here at home, it is more of the same.
“The White race has been disgracing the entire Black nation of the earth. Africa is suffering under the same wicked power of the White race and having an awful time trying to rid herself of such a demon. She will do so—and soon,” He writes in “The Fall of America,” on page 83.
“Here in America, Almighty Allah (God) wants to make himself known with both the punishment and the destruction of this mighty, powerful, and rich people. Fear not, my dear Black people, for we have Allah with us; and He is a mighty, strong, and the most powerful one to be feared. Come follow me, and I will lead you to your salvation,” the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad continued.
Like the civilizations of Babylon, Sodom and Gomorrah, Thamud and Ad written of in the Bible and Holy Qur’an, they were destroyed, but not before Allah (God) in His Infinite Mercy, sent a warner to the people.
“It is our Sacred Duty to warn America that the ‘term’—a fixed term—of her power to exercise authority and rule not only over her own citizens, but over the peoples of the Earth: That term is fast coming to an end,” Minister Farrakhan warned in part 12 of his message.
He then referenced Revelations, Chapter 11, verse 8 which states: “And the nations are angry, and Thy wrath is come, for it is the time of the dead, that they should be judged and given justice.”
For decades, the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan have stood as Watchmen on the Wall as Servants of Almighty God and as warners to the rulers of America and to Black people. What we see unfolding in the United States and coming to pass confirms the truths that these two servants spoke.
Minister Farrakhan explained that, like Moses, the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad appealed to the “modern pharaoh,” which is the United States government, “that God has come, and has chosen for Himself the despised, the rejected, the unloved, the unwanted Black Man and Woman of America to be The Cornerstone of His New Kingdom of Righteousness.
And God is very angry at the way the government and people of the United States have treated His Chosen People; and He’s giving America a chance, a ‘Grace Period,’ that they might repent of the evil that they have done to us, and do justice by us, that they might be given an ‘extension of time.’”
So, as America looks forward to celebrating its 250-year anniversary later this year, the “modern pharaoh” would be wise to take heed of the guidance of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, and pray for an extension of time before it may be too late.
