CHICAGO—The Muslim Friday congregational prayer service known as Jumu’ah at this year’s annual Saviours’ Day convention was led by Nation of Islam Student National Imam Sultan Rahman Muhammad. He encouraged the hundreds of Muslims seated in front of him to “understand the gravity of the moment.”
Student Imam Sultan explained it was “Allah (God) the Most High (who) brought us together here (on the grounds) of The National Center of the Nation of Islam.”
This year’s convention was at the Nation of Islam’s headquarters, The National Center.
“We, brothers and sisters, were brought together in a way that will cause us to transfer from one to another a depth of mercy and love that will shine around this planet,” Student Imam Sultan said.
“From this gathering at our National Center for the reeducation, of our people, our mission is to help Allah (God) The Great Mahdi, Who came in the Person of Master Fard Muhammad and The Great Messiah (the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad) establish the kingdom of God.”
During the khutbah (sermon) he said, the “Merciful God … has given us guidance for this moment in time through the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan … that is the fulfillment of prophecies.”
He explained that if we, as believers, “are not expanding our breast, we are not expanding the territory of the Kingdom of God.”

He added, “If we are not connecting to Allah in prostration, and prayer, and complete submission to the Will of God as our sole object of worship, we, brothers and sisters, are not expanding the territory of the Kingdom of God.”
Student Imam Sultan shared that we (Muslims in the Nation of Islam) could never thank Allah enough for His intervention in the affairs of the Black man and woman in the Person of Master Fard Muhammad, the Great Mahdi, to establish the Kingdom of God.
Referring to the Holy Qur’an, surah (chapter) 39, ayat (verse) 61, Student Imam Sultan said, “And Allah will deliver those who were mindful of Him to their place of ultimate triumph, no evil will touch them, nor well they grieve.”
The imam, while delivering his message explained, “We, brothers, must know that Allah is deliberating (through) us, by His mercy, because if it was left to our deeds, we would be stuck in a condition that we would find no escape from.”
He told those in attendance: “Allah will deliver those who fear Him, to their place of salvation.”
“No evil will touch them, nor will they grieve. We have to ask ourselves, are we grieving? Has evil touched us?” he asked.
Making a historical reference to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Student Imam Sultan explained that one time, the Prophet, was in constant motion under a death plot. “The time of prayer came while he (Prophet Muhammad) was literally riding his camel.”

Student Imam Sultan explained that the Prophet did not stop his camel to get off and pray the traditional movements of prayer (rakats) because he understood his life was more valuable than ritual. The Prophet “made subtle movements to represent each movement of our prayer.”
“It is the recitation of the prayer that we must break whatever activity we’re doing for the focus to be on Allah,” added Student Imam Sultan. The focus during prayers must be totally on Allah (God), he said.
