CHICAGO—Visitors, guests, community members and supporters of the Nation of Islam gathered in Chicago and in cities around the country the weekend of October 11-13 to commemorate and observe the 29th Anniversary of the historic Million Man March and Holy Day of Atonement which was called by the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.

The Million Man March was held October 16, 1995, and drew nearly two million Black men to the Nation’s Capital of Washington, D.C., for a day, devoted to Atonement, Reconciliation and Responsibility.

This day unlike any other in the history of this country, still resonates as a gathering that will go down in history. Convened by the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, the unprecedented, divine March brought together Black men from all over the country from various religions, political ideologies and socio-economic backgrounds.

The weekend observance for the 29th anniversary held at The National Center, headquarters of the Nation of Islam, included a special Jumu’ah (congregational) prayer service led by Student National Imam Sultan R. Muhammad on Friday.

On Saturday, October 12, a plenary session, “Atonement, Reconciliation, Responsibility,” was held at Mosque Maryam. There were also several informative workshops presented including:

“Disaster Preparedness,” “Strengthening the Bond of Marriage and Preparation for Marriage,” and “Achieving Good Health Through How to Eat to Live.” There were also activities for children and families held on the grounds of The National Center.

On Sunday, October 13, a critically important message: “Atonement and Repentance: Who of the Presidential Candidates Can Save the Lives of the People of America from the Wrath of God?”
