Trials placed upon God’s servants

“And We never sent a messenger or a prophet before thee but when he desired, the devil made a suggestion respecting his desire; but Allah annuls that which the devil casts, then does Allah establish His messages. And Allah is Knowing, Wise. That He may make what the devil casts a trial for those in whose hearts is a disease and the hard-hearted. And surely the wrongdoers are in severe opposition, And that those who have been given knowledge may know that it is the Truth from thy Lord …” –Holy Qur’an 22:52-54.

The Honorable Elijah Muhammad told us that his teacher, Master Fard Muhammad, Allah in person, told him that He had given him the hardest job of any man who ever lived. The Honorable Elijah Muhammad, under the guidance of his Teacher, put the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan in his seat, during his absence. How do we really see his (Minister Farrakhan) “job?”

Then, the Honorable Elijah Muhammad gave Minister Farrakhan, in 1985, a special message. And then Allah publicly backed up and proved that what he was told, to be the truth! Have you studied this?

The Holy Qur’an and the Bible teaches us, all over the earth, that Aaron was a very special helper to Moses. That was for that time. But, the best understanding of this is, that Aaron was a divine sign of Minister Farrakhan.

Now, how does Minister Farrakhan’s unique power, to speak the Word of God, so effectively, relate to his heart? The Honorable Elijah Muhammad told Minister Farrakhan: “Allah prepared you for me.” This includes his power to speak and his heart. How does this relate to his trials?

Holy Qur’an Surah 6:19 reads: “What thing is weightiest in testimony?” (It took me from May 9th to May 14th to finish the above paragraphs and to send this article to The Final Call. What bearing does this fact have on this article? I intend to answer this question, next article, Allah willing.)

In “Closing the Gap” the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan said: “Sometime in July, I was made the minister of Mosque No. 7. I packed up my family and drove down to New York. The house that Malcolm lived in was firebombed. When they re-did it, they re-did it as cheaply as they could do it. When I moved into the house, it had carpet on the floor that was maybe an eighth of inch thick with rubber backing on the carpet. They had a chandelier in the dinning room with plastic things from the chandelier. My family then of seven and I moved into that house.

“But other trials began from his laborers. You know, those things I don’t want to go into except to say, that the things that laborers do against a person who is helping, can either destroy that person or help that person to be who that person should be.”

During the rebuilding of Mosque No. 7, Maceo Haziz became very close to the Messenger.

“He did things in New York; getting monies and loans and whatnot. I’m not clear on all the things that he did, but he endeared himself to the Messenger. Many times at the end of the month when we would bring the labor out to Chicago, he would always accompany me. I would go out once a month and Maceo would be with me and we would listen to what the Honorable Elijah Muhammad said at his table.

“Three or four more trials–sequentially. I’m trying to get to each of them. He made me his National Representative. After making me his National Representative and giving me the name Farrakhan, which I didn’t quite like, because I had seen the name Muhammad and I thought, surely, if he were giving me a name it would be Muhammad. But he gave me the name Farrakhan.

“When he gave it to me in 1965, September, through the newspaper, when I came out and sat at the table, he said, “Well Minister how do you like your new name?” I didn’t want to tell him, dear Apostle, I didn’t like it because I saw the name Muhammad. I said, “Oh it’s nice dear Apostle but what does it mean?” He said, “Oh, I has the meaning upstairs. It has very many good meanings. It is a modern up-to-date name of God. Has many good meanings, Brother, but I will give you the meaning in time.”

“That was 1965. He left in 1975, never telling me the meaning of the name. Since he told me that he would give me the meaning of the name, I would not press him for its meaning. I waited for him–not realizing that that too was a test. You wait on the Lord. Lord have mercy.

“Then, Brother, there was this program with Tony Brown: “Is It Too Late?” There was to be a nationally-televised program of all of the top Black leaders to discuss: “Is It Too Late?” I don’t remember when this was but the riots and things were taking place and it was upsetting.”

He brought me out and he said, “Brother, I want you to go and do this program for me.” I said, “Yes, sir, dear Apostle.” He brought me out again and he’s instructing me on how I should go and he’s telling me, “Now, Brother, you don’t have to fear nothing from no neuter gender, because what I have given you is superior to anything that they have. You stand up on what I taught you,” in words you know. It’s like he’s setting me up, and preparing me to meet with the leaders on this nationally-televised thing.

“Well, I take Brother Akbar (then Larry 4X) three days before the program, I check into a hotel and I’m studying, fasting and praying–preparing. I sent my friend and Brother companion, Brother James, now known as Muhammad Ali, to buy me a new suit to wear. I was preparing.

“On the morning of the show there is a dress rehearsal; getting everybody in place. They wanted me there at a certain time. I wanted to call the Messenger to see if there are last minute instructions or anything. I called him and he comes to the phone and I ask him, “Are there any instructions, dear Apostle?” He said, “Instructions for what?” “This is the program where all the leaders coming together, “Is It Too Late?” He said, “Well, you do what you want to do, say what you want to say,” and hung up the phone. “Huh?”

“I called back. He wouldn’t come to the phone. They said he had a diabetic coma and he was in a coma. So I sat with the Brothers, Akbar and James and I said, “What should I do?” He said, “Call him back.”

“So I called back. He said, “Is this a program for the leaders, Brother?” I said, “Yes, sir, dear Apostle.” He replied, “Well when did you become the leader of the Nation of Islam, Brother?” I said, “Well what do you want me to do, dear Apostle?” “Do what you want to do.” Then he said, “What do you want to do?” I said, “Well I want to be with you.” He said, “Well come on then” and hung up the phone.”
