[Editor’s Note: This article is reprinted from February 26, 2005.]
Since I wrote my last article (January 10), much has happened, in favor of the cause for which The 10th Anniversary of the Million Man March™ has been launched. Much has also happened against this most worthy cause. However, although the wicked perceive not, their evil serves this most worthy cause.
Among the motives of some, who subtly oppose the aim and purpose of Allah and His Christ–to be clearly articulated worldwide by the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan in his Saviours’ Day Address February 27–is envy.
The first time I ever heard the Honorable Elijah Muhammad speak of “envy” was in 1956. In that talk, he stated, “An envious person is the worst kind of person because he’ll kill you.”
People have and continue to kill other people every day. So why are envious people any worse from others who kill others?
Everyone does what he or she does from motives. Nothing we ever do is without the motive from which it comes. More often than not, we do what we do from more than one motive. But the point here is that all of our motives have different levels of good and different levels of evil.
One place where we can get an excellent idea of the degrees of goodness and evil is in the 90th verse of the 16th Surah and footnote number 1393 of the Muhammad Ali translation of the Holy Qur’an.
We should also include, in such study, the three broad stages of human spiritual growth, described in Holy Qur’an 12:53, 75:2 and 89:27. They are part of Minister Farrakhan’s Study Guides, which were based on his speech on September 16, 1986, in Phoenix, Arizona, titled: Self-Improvement: The Basis For Community Development.
Of all of the motives from which we act, envy is the worst. People who are envious are the worst kind of human beings. Can envious people be cured? Yes. How? Let’s see.
If envy is the worst of motives, what motive is the best? Minister Farrakhan has spoken on, or at least touched, the subject of love in every talk he makes. That’s the motive from which God acts.
One of the things Minister Farrakhan has taught of love is that it means–as his teacher taught him–Freedom, Justice and Equality. He has explained this in a comprehensive way, in this column and elsewhere. Reading and/or listening to this divine explanation alone should compel an altogether higher, different understanding view of and feeling for love than is taught by this world.
My last article ended with: “Is there a way that we can collectively transcend to a level of consciousness where we see that the turbulence in our collective mind, possibly, is inseparable from the turbulence in nature, because we are part of nature?”
“Yes. Minister Farrakhan represents that way.”
So this article begins my answer to this question, of the scientist who raised it, through Minister Farrakhan’s way.
Let’s start by getting Minister Farrakhan’s talk in Washington, D.C. titled: “Standing on the Past; Working for the Future; Building for the Future” delivered on May 1, 2004. In it, he gave one of the clearest statements you may ever hear of how we are direct descendants of God. He also explained what this implies about our powers and responsibilities.
That we’re His descendants is at the heart of the answer of man’s relationship to the forces of nature. Get his tape.
Since love is the original essence of the motive of God’s behavior, then His way is love. From this love, He created both the Honorable Elijah Muhammad and Minister Farrakhan. You, too.
I’m not aiming at making invidious distinctions between people, but how many people do you know of who demonstrate the kind of nonstop genuine love for every single Black person who lives in America like they have and do?
What does it take to love every Black man, woman and child in America? What kind of heart does a human being have to have to intelligently, sincerely and guilelessly, but with balance–and with an eye on what pleases Allah–love allBlack people?
We’ll look at Minister Farrakhan’s profound love for humanity, as well as this subject soon, Allah willing. But I think we should all agree that a Black man’s professed love for humanity deserves deep suspicion, if he does not passionately love the people from whom he was born.
Ponder these words of Minister Farrakhan gathered for me by Sister Lisa of Muhammad’s Mosque No. 15 for a project:
“Envy has at its root a gross and inordinate self-concept either on the side of gross inferiority or gross arrogance. A proper self-concept is vitally necessary to have a balanced and peaceful mind with contentment.
“What causes the division among us? Envy! And envy is the most irredeemable emotion in the human being. When one person envies another, that spirit is the spirit of Satan.
“It is when we cannot cope with someone else having what we desire and therefore, feeling a frustration and disappointment and not being able to handle that, then the ugly disposition of envy manifests.
“If I can rejoice in what God has given me, then I can rejoice in what God has given to others. So my thanks and gratitude for His gift to me makes me grateful for the gifts that He gives to others.
“Until and unless we can uproot the evil of envy, we will always be a prey in the hands of our enemies who continue to feed and create division among us by manipulating this wicked characteristic called envy.
“Think of everything that you want for yourself and then want it for your Brother and Sister. If you can truly desire for others what you desire for yourself, you will uproot the evil of envy.
“Remember, we are not Muslims or righteous people untilwe love or desire for our Brother or Sister what we love and desire for ourselves.”
On December 4, 2004, in our review of a certain subject, Minister Farrakhan mentioned that the Honorable Elijah Muhammad said to him in the ’70s: “Brother, when you see me again, the things that you see me doing, if I did not tell you that I was not God, you would be found worshipping at my feet.” [Emphasis mine.]
These words remind me of his October 24, 1989 press conference in which he stated: “He [the Honorable Elijah Muhammad] said to me that he would not permit me to see him at that time. However, he said that I had one more thing to do and when that one more thing was done that I could come again to the Wheel and I would be permitted to see him face to face.” [Emphasis mine.]
These words are momentous. They are connected to:IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THE HONORABLE ELIJAH MUHAMMAD IS STILL PHYSICALLY ALIVE???
Many people have been and are falsely accused, day and night, all over the earth, for all kinds of reasons, for thousands of years. Envy is at the base of much of this.
Other than Minister Farrakhan, no one has been more falsely accused, except the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. However, at a certain point, the heavens and the earth will cry out.
More, next issue, Allah willing.
