The Mid-Atlantic Regional Student Protocol Department of the Nation of Islam hosted “A Night of Talent in Tribute to A Star Without Equal,” dedicated to the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan. The event generated energy, excitement and applause as performances by youths and adults highlighted an unforgettable evening.
For over seven decades, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, who turned 92 on May 11, has stood firm on a great and pivotal decision of his life, accepting the Life-Giving Teachings of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad. Minister Farrakhan continues to live by the principle of making his word his bond.
The event was held virtually on March 29 and included participants from the Mid-Atlantic and Eastern Regions. One of the evening’s most inspiring moments came from the mother-daughter duo of Sister April Muhammad and Sister Amirah Muhammad of Mosque No. 24 in Richmond, Virginia, who delivered a breathtaking rendition of the classic song “Black Butterfly.”
Brother Tariq Aziz Muhammad, a Jr. F.O.I. from the North Charleston, South Carolina Study Group, demonstrated his artistic brilliance.
Talent showcase winners included Sister April Muhammad, Mosque No. 25 in Newark; Bro. Yusef Muhammad, Mosque No. 57 in Norfolk, Virginia; Bro. Najim Muhammad, Mosque No. 92 in Greensboro, N.C.; Bro. Zion Muhammad, Mosque No. 4 in Washington, D.C. and animation artist Sis. Samya Aaliyah Muhammad of the North Charleston, South Carolina Study Group.
Additional performers paid tribute to Minister Farrakhan, including: Sis. Amirah Muhammad, Mosque No. 25 in Newark; Sis. Charhonda Muhammad, Mosque No. 36 in Charlotte; Sis. Kenya X, Mosque No. 25 in Newark; Bro. Wykeen Muhammad and Sis.
Auriella X, Mosque No. 4 in Washington, D.C.; Bro. Jayson X, of the Greenville, S.C. Study Group; Bro. Michael Muhammad of the Bennettsville, S.C. Study Group; Bro. Malik Bilal and Sis. Asia Muhammad, Mosque No. 25; Sis. A’ishah Muhammad, Greenville, N.C. Study Group and Sis. Zahirah Ilyasah Muhammad of the North Charleston, S.C. Study Group.
“It takes courage to step on that stage, and every single participant poured their heart and soul into their performance,” said Student Mid-Atlantic Regional Minister Abdul Khadir Muhammad.
Serving as the host and hostess was Bro. Torrioun Muhammad of the Greenville, S.C. Study Group, Sis. Rakkiyah Muhammad of Mosque No. 36 in Charlotte and Student Minister Jamil Muhammad, all of whom kept the energy high and the audience engaged throughout the night.
Electronic voting for the winners was managed by Bro. Letrevious Muhammad, Greenville, S.C. Study Group. Bro. Jasper Muhammad, of Mosque No. 34; Bro. Christopher Muhammad, of Mosque No. 56 in Winston Salem, N.C., and Bro. Kyle Muhammad from the Greenville, N.C. Study Group were also vital in contributing to the success of the event.
