TAMPA, Fla.—On Saturday, April 20, Candy Lowe hosted another trip on the Black Business Bus Tour. The tour began at Rebirth Gospel Park where riders loaded on a charter bus and were transported throughout the Tampa Bay area to shop at Black-owned businesses and circulate dollars in local Black-owned businesses.
Mrs. Candy Lowe founded the Black Business Bus Tour as a way to bring awareness to Black businesses. Since 2006 the tour has spotlighted hundreds of Black businesses. Business owners have expressed their gratitude for the bus tour and shared how one tour that generated thousands of dollars in profit kept their doors open and changed the trajectory of their business.
Another feature of this unique experience is that riders have the opportunity to network with community members on the charter buses as they travel from business to business on the tour.
Student Minister Chad Muhammad, of Mosque No. 47 in Tampa, took this opportunity to speak to the passengers about the Nation of Islam. He thanked Mrs. Lowe and highlighted the good works that the believers are doing in the city, under the leadership of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.
Some impactful stops on the tour took place at Shades of Gray, an art studio business owned by Ron Watson. The bus also stopped at Black English Book Store owned by Councilwoman Gwendolyn Henderson, among many other Black-owned businesses.
