DETROIT—The 15th Annual Marriage Retreat went wonderfully by Allah’s grace! This year’s gathering was held Aug. 28-31 in Detroit. The weekend was coordinated by husband-and-wife Brother Marcus and Sister Cecelia Muhammad of Atlanta’s Mosque No. 15.

Participants were joined in person by Student Minister Troy Muhammad of Mosque No. 1, who welcomed several couples to the city.

Sister Cecelia and Bro. Marcus helped the couples to grade their marriages. There were special husbands-only sessions and wives-only sessions. Presenters presented in person and via Zoom during the weekend.

Presenters included Student Min. Darryl Muhammad of Macon, Georgia, Student Southwest Regional M.G.T. Captain Maalika Muhammad from Houston, Texas, and Sister Tesha Muhammad.

Couples attended an excellent Jumu’ah prayer service conducted by Brother Yon from Detroit. There were sessions on effective communication; Sis. Dr. Jennifer Muhammad spoke on the topic of trauma. There was a special session on disaster preparedness with Sis.

Tequella Muhammad from Atlanta, Georgia, and Bro. Keith and Sis. Anne from Boston spoke about farming. On Aug. 30, the wives attended M.G.T. Class at Mosque No. 1 while the husbands attended a powerful session with Student Minister Jamil Muhammad from Washington, D.C., via Zoom.

Later in the afternoon, the couples attended a session about finances with Sis. Carmen M. Herrera. Later, they concluded the day with a session on credit done by Bro. Dawud Muhammad.

August 31, they attended the Sunday mosque meeting where Student Minister Troy delivered a powerful message. Later, couples attended a question-and-answer session with Student Min. Lee Muhammad, Bro. Victor Muhammad and his wife, Student M.G.T. Captain Dr. Missey Muhammad.

Then Student Min. Troy performed the marriage recommitment ceremony where couples renewed their vows.
