The Nation of Islam, under the leadership of The Honorable Elijah Muhammad, under my guidance and direction, has suffered a great loss, and I personally feel a great loss. The editor of The Final Call newspaper, Brother Naba’a Muhammad, has passed away and returned to Allah, but he has left a legacy of work that cannot die. For as long as The Final Call newspaper lives, we will be blessed with the memory of this wonderful brother of ours.
Brother Naba’a was a very special human being. The Final Call newspaper brought out the best in him, not only as a writer but as a thinker and a Muslim follower of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. Brother Naba’a lived for the truth and lost his life while being a believer in and a faithful servant of the Cause of Islam in America and throughout the world. I grew to admire and be grateful for his sense of purpose and great courage as a man, a Muslim, and lover of our people. Brother Naba’a had his feet firmly planted in the religion of Islam, seeking always for more knowledge, truth, and facts to write the many wonderful editorials that he has written over the years for The Final Call newspaper.
As editor of this unique and unusual newspaper, he won many awards personally and for articles written in The Final Call newspaper. He brought prestige among his peers for the paper that he was the editor of. He will be missed by those of us who have benefited from his life of service, and his labor will be written in the history of The Final Call newspaper. His labor in the Cause of Islam put him in a category of those who live and cannot die because his life of service will continue to inspire those who come after him. Having him as a brother and a companion in our struggle for Freedom, Justice and Equality was a great blessing to me and all of us whom he served. But the greatest gift I received from knowing him was that he was a friend, a genuine friend of those whom he loved and to those who loved him.
Jesus, the Master Teacher, wanted us to love each other and not just be a believer but have genuine friendship. I consider Brother Naba’a as a friend in service of our people. Jesus said, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” As a believer and follower of The Honorable Elijah Muhammad, in Brother Naba’a I found a friend.
May Allah be Pleased in his labor and his life and reward him and those closest to him with the reward of Allah.
To his family, his beautiful children, lift up your heads and throw your shoulders back, and know that your father was a friend of God.
May Allah’s (God’s) Peace be with his family, his fellow laborers, and all those who saw him as a friend.
Sincerely,
I Am Your Brother and Servant,
