HOUSTON—During the last weekend in April, Fruit of Islam (F.O.I., the men of the Nation of Islam) from around the country gathered in the beautiful city of Houston, Texas, where they were hosted by the gracious staff of Muhammad Mosque No. 45 for the first Saviours’ Tour of 2025.

Participants described the weekend as “a gift from God,” “the embodiment of love,” and “lightning shining in the darkness for a brief moment.” The weekend began on Saturday, April 26 at 10:00 a.m. sharp at Mosque No. 45.

Due to the sisters holding their separate weekly class at the mosque, Student Southwest Regional M.G.T. Captain Maalikah Muhammad briefly entered the sanctuary to welcome the brothers to the city.

She thanked them for traveling near and far to help share and spread the Teachings of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad under the leadership and example of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan in the city of Houston.

After briefly hearing from local mosque officials and receiving instructions, the F.O.I. headed to an event in the city celebrating Black Men’s Wellness Day, which promoted the fitness and health of the Black community. They spoke and interacted with several attendees and organizations at the event who recognized the brothers and applauded their mission.

Afterward, the F.O.I. went to an area of the city known as “The Third Ward” to spread the life-giving Teachings of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and promote peace for the Black men and women living in the area.

Knocking on doors and shaking the hands of curious passersby, the F.O.I. were embraced and met by mothers, fathers, and excited youth who all wanted to see what the brothers had to offer.

Among them was 11-year-old Jevon, who was born and raised in Houston. He felt inspired seeing the F.O.I. When asked how it felt to see over 200 brothers dressed in suits march into his neighborhood, young Jevon said, “It was good.”

He added, “I felt like it was probably something special. I like the suits and I like how y’all act like real soldiers.”

Traveling further into the city, the brothers came across multiple youths who were eager to follow alongside them. Many residents also expressed they felt compelled to hear the Sunday lecture, especially after seeing the F.O.I. perform a drill exhibition.

The drill demonstration attracted the attention of men and women sitting on their porches and to others who looked out their windows to see what was going on.

Brother Alton Muhammad of Mosque No. 7 in New York shared the intention behind displaying drill and saying the names, “Elijah and Farrakhan,” as they performed. “We want the babies to say, ‘mommy, who’s this man Farrakhan that they keep talking about?” said Brother Alton.

While in the community, F.O.I. distributed The Final Call newspaper and collected phone numbers of people who agreed to come to the Nation of Islam mosque meeting on Sunday, April 27.

The brothers made it their duty to interact with community residents. Mariah, a 21-year-old mother of one, was especially grateful for the men appearing in her neighborhood to spread peace and unity.

“I knew y’all were gathering for a fellowship, but I see an uprising in the community. I’ve been here almost three years, but I see positivity in the community. … I see y’all with y’all’s suits on, and it seems to bring peace in the community,” said Mariah.

“We’re in an impoverished community. Yeah, it’s poor, but it’s not where you live, it’s how you live. It’s how you bring out the best in your community and how you better yourself,” she said.

The Houston stop of the Saviour’s Tour was declared by several F.O.I. as “the best one yet.”

With Houston being the city to start the tour off for 2025 the brothers were celebrated and thanked by Student Southwest Regional Minister Dr. Abdul Haleem Muhammad.

“We have to have things necessary that perpetuate beyond our individual accomplishments, but for the whole of our people,” Student Min. Haleem said. He explained the importance of “thinking for the whole” as taught by the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad.

“The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan taught me … He said ‘Brother, I don’t want you thinking for the Muslims alone. I want you to think for the whole and speak for the whole.’

The Saviours’ Tour represents that. They’re not just acting as individuals from different cities—they’re coming together because they are thinking for the whole and speaking for the whole and acting for the whole,” said Student Min. Haleem.

“Take it from your brother who has served as a student minister for 37 years and a student regional minister for 31 years—you want to have the Saviours’ Tour in your city and in your region,” he continued.

He stressed the importance of the Saviours’ Tour which is to help in the mission of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan “which is to raise and resurrect the dead.”
