PITTSBURGH—The light, life and power contained in the words of the life-giving Teachings of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad as taught by the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan shone brightly in the city of Pittsburgh.

On Sunday, March 23, Student Minister Nuri Muhammad of Mosque No. 74 in Indianapolis traveled to the city of steel and delivered a powerful and timely message titled, “Have No Fear For The Future: The Future is Ours.”

He delivered the message to a packed house at Mosque No. 22. The message uplifted and electrified the crowd of attentive attendees.

During his message, Brother Nuri quoted chapter 17 of the monumental book by the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, “Message to the Blackman in America” which states, “fear is the number one enemy that is blocking progress and success from coming to the so-called Negroes.”

The powerful message resonated with young and old alike. When asked about her experience watching and listening to Brother Nuri, 10-year-old Sister Samiyyah Muhammad said that she “loved hearing about the characteristics of God and how these can be found in us.”

Sis. Samiyyah smiled and said that she was amazed to see how much enjoyment Brother Nuri got from delivering the message.

“It was a very proud moment to have Student Minister Nuri back in the city and to recognize the great achievements and progress made by the believers,” said Student Minister Victor Muhammad of Mosque No. 22.

“We accept the challenge not to be afraid and to keep all those who accepted today all the way through the process to help the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan,” he said.

As part of his visit, Brother Nuri stopped by LIFE Male STEAM Academy which was founded by Dr. Darryl and Reverend Taleeta Canady. LIFE Academy is a 6th through 9th-grade school designed to “prepare male scholars for college success and career readiness.”

He spoke to a room of about 30 students, educators and administrators. His message of empowerment included anecdotes about overcoming difficulties of his personal educational experience and principles for success. The boys in the room were full of excitement and asked questions at the end of Bro. Nuri’s presentation.

Brother Nuri’s visit culminated on the evening of Monday, March 24, when he delivered the keynote message to the men of Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church. Rodman Street Church held a weekly Monday night men’s revival in March.

Throughout his message titled, “The Return of the Original Man,” Student Minister Nuri lifted principles of manhood from the Holy Qur’an, the Bible, and the Teachings of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad. He also shared guidance from the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan on fatherhood.

Pastor Darryl Canady shared his thoughts on the gathering. “We were honored and blessed to have (Student) Minister Nuri Muhammad at the school to encourage our young kings to grow tall enough to wear their crowns and at the church to empower our men to return to the glory that God purposed for us in His image and likeness.”

Proverbs 27:17 which states, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another,” beautifully captures the spirit of the interfaith collaboration and gathering.

At the end of his message attendees stood in line as Brother Nuri signed copies of his various books.

Bro. Craig Howell is a long-time supporter of the Nation of Islam and attended both days featuring Student Min. Nuri. “It was perfect timing for the city of Pittsburgh and Muhammad Mosque No. 22 to have the opportunity to host such a highly recognizable (Student) Minister of the Nation of Islam,” he said.

“There is so much going on with the youth that it was inspiring to have such a profound word speaking to their condition. He affected a lot of people on Sunday at the mosque and Monday at the church. You could feel the spirit of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.”
