Member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Party, Roberto Morales Ojeda, on Nov. 13 received the Executive Secretary of the Sao Paulo Forum (FSP), Monica Valente, who is on a working visit to Cuba.
Morales Ojeda thanked her for her presence in the country, in a complex moment, but characterized by optimism and confidence that “we will come out ahead, as on previous occasions.”
They reviewed joint issues and highlighted the role of Cuba to promote unity from the Forum, a key element to face future challenges, said the host leader, who conveyed to Valente the greetings of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, who was visiting areas affected by Hurricane Rafael.
Morales Ojeda also thanked the Forum for its support to Cuba in its fight against the blockade and the denunciation of the arbitrary inclusion in the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
The Communist Party of Cuba is a founding member of the Sao Paulo Forum, an organization that emerged in 1990 as an initiative of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and Brazilian leader Luis Inácio Lula da Silva. It was the responsibility of the Brazilian Workers’ Party (PT) and Lula to convene the founding meeting in Sao Paulo on July 2-4, 1990.
The priorities of the FSP are to promote the unity and integration of the left political forces of the continent in the anti-imperialist struggle; and to defend peace as a common objective for Our America, currently materialized with the support to the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, approved at the II Summit of the Celac in Havana, in 2014.
The visit will allow exchanging on the work projections for 2025, and in her agenda the Executive Secretary of the FSP will hold meetings with representatives of the FMC, the UJC and the University of the Ñico López Party.
