After hosting several virtual gatherings, The Nubian Leadership Circle (N.L.C.) is preparing to host an in-person National Black Leadership Summit, October 18-19 in Washington, D.C., at Union Temple Baptist Church, 1225 W. St. SE., in Washington, D.C.
The N.L.C. officially came together a little over three years ago with a mission to identify, organize and mobilize leadership of various organizations locally, nationally and internationally, said organizers.
“The intent is to ‘coalition build’ and utilize our community resources to function in the best interest of Afrikan /Black people across the planet and make it become a reality for many generations to come,” organizers stated in a news release.
They have held 10 summits, all via Zoom. However, “National Black Leadership Summit XI” will be held in-person and is themed, “Stand Up Mighty Black People and Become What You Say What You May!!!”
During the previous gatherings, participants met virtually in eight cadres or working groups that explored the areas of: food/land; economic development; family essence; spiritual renewal; communication/technology; health/education and arts/culture.
Sidiki Kambon, the convener of the summits, told The Final Call in a previous interview, “The goal is to establish Nubian Leadership Circle Summit satellites throughout America and abroad.
The aim is to develop a national strategic plan to address the issues and conditions of Black life and ultimately build an independent Black nation that includes all Africans and Black people.”
He added: “The summit is also committed to Black survival, countering the adverse conditions damaging Black families, systemic disparities in health care, economics, education and countering the weaponization of Black culture.”
Those who were in attendance virtually at Summits I through X are encouraged to re-enroll as participants in their same “cadre” for continuity in developing respective “work projects” in moving forward, organizers said. For more information visit, nubianleadershipcircle.com.
