CHICAGO—The Coalition for Justice in Palestine, which includes the U.S. Palestinian Community Network-Chicago, other activists and organizations, participated in a demonstration on May 8 in Chicago in protest of President Joe Biden.

The president was in the city for a fundraiser for his 2024 campaign. The Democratic National Convention will also be held in the city in August. Protesters gathered in the Loop, expressing anger and displeasure over the president’s visit and his handling of the Israel-Hamas war.

“We know that Biden comes here often to chase campaign donations, but he also knows that he’s not welcome because he’s responsible for the 35,000 Palestinians killed by Israel in Gaza,” said Hatem Abudayyeh, National Chair of the U.S. Palestinian Community Network, in a news release.

The organizers vow to continue protesting every time the president comes to the city. “In Addition, USPCN is one of the organizations leading the Coalition to March on the DNC, and we expect tens of thousands of Palestinians, Arabs, Black people, Latinos and many others to descend on Chicago in August to protest Biden and his Democratic cabal who are supporting Israel unequivocally as it continues to perpetrate war crimes and genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza,” Mr. Abudayyeh said, according to the statement.
