Unveiling the Number 19

“Praise be to Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth, and made darkness and light. Yet those who disbelieve set up equals to their Lord. He it is Who created you from clay, then He decreed a term. And there is a term named with Him; still you doubt. And He is Allah in the heavens and in the earth. He knows your secret (thoughts) and your open (words), and He knows what you earn.”-Holy Qur’an, Surah 6, verses 1-3

The sacredness of being single can be likened to a single note on the musical scale of God’s Divine Creation. As we combine in harmony with other notes within the scale of a whole note, we create the great orchestral symphony of The Music of the Spheres. As I departed from the San Antonio airport following my participation in the 2nd Annual NOI Singles Retreat the weekend of May 19-22, organized by Sister Ati Muhammad and her host staff, many wondrous thoughts were racing through my mind from the impact of that conference.

Waiting to board my flight to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, I stopped by the nearby newsstand and picked up the June issue of Discover magazine. At the very top of the cover appeared this question and topic for discussion, “Can a single brain cell think?” What struck me immediately were the words of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad contained in his Lecture Series on, “The Theology of Time,” when he spoke on the Origin of God generating Himself into existence from the dark womb of space as He emitted the first brain cell of thought. As students of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, we are discovering more proofs everyday that substantiate the spiritual and scientific foundation of his work today. Science and the discovery of new fields of Knowledge are verifying and confirming the Body of The Supreme Wisdom Teachings we have received over the last 74 years in the Nation of Islam in America.

I once asked the Honorable Elijah Muhammad about the value and application of the White man’s studies in science and technology that is surfacing in the world today, and he answered me in these words: “The more we know about the White man’s studies in these fields of knowledge, the more advanced we will be in the Hereafter.” His words along with the subsequent discoveries he is making in every field of science, caused me to reflect upon Yakub’s history and the scientific studies that he engaged in while studying in the laboratories and schools of his day. Though Yakub had a strong premonition of the work he would do as a child, while playing with two pieces of steel–one with magnetic in it attracting the piece that didn’t have magnetic in it–he ultimately discovered while looking through a microscope, the secret of two people lying dormant in the life-germ itself. It was through the study of the life germ that he altered the genetic material lying dormant in the Original Man and people. Thus through a special method of birth control, practiced in a specially chosen environment, he gave birth to every race and people that has come to populate our planet today. This experiment began with the Original Black Man and People, and it is our responsibility and challenge to perfect the evolution of our species for the whole of humanity. There is a saying that Truth is Stranger than Fiction!

One might ask how are these studies relevant to the Singles Retreat in preparing ourselves for courtship and the partnerships that will lead to successful marriages, community life and development. The more we know of the science and material of self and others, the more we will grow into the likeness of God and reflect His image in higher states of mental and spiritual consciousness. Thus, we become molded and fashioned into the Oneness of God and the Oneness of Humanity.

“And there comes not to them any message of the messages of their Lord but they turn away from it. So they rejected the truth when it came to them, but soon will come to them the news of that which they mocked. See they not how many a generation We destroyed before them, whom We had established in the earth as We have not established you, and We sent the clouds pouring abundant rain on them, and We made the rivers flow beneath them? Then We destroyed them for their sins, and raised up after them another generation.” -Holy Qur’an, Surah 6, verses 4-6

To be continued.
