CHICAGO—During Muhammad University of Islam’s 2022 graduation ceremony, members of the Elite 50 Plus, the men of the Nation of Islam over the age 50, presented two graduates with $1,000 scholarships.

Presenters of the scholarships included Brothers Barney Muhammad, Ronald Muhammad, Abdul Akbar Muhammad, James G. Muhammad and Kevin 12X Devers.

Brother Lieutenant Khalil Muhammad Foundation provided the scholarships. This foundation was started in 2017, spearheaded by the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.

Both recipients, Isaiah Muhammad, 14 years old, and Allan Seals-Menefee, 16 years old, are exceptional students, according to the scholarship presenters. Isaiah will be attending Chicago State University majoring in engineering and Allan will be attending Southern Illinois Edwardsville majoring in mass communications.

Isaiah and Allan both stated that they felt good about being recipients of the scholarships and were grateful. The graduation ceremony took place on July 14 at Mosque Maryam in Chicago.

Barney Muhammad, member of the Elite 50 Plus, stated, “The importance of this scholarship, is that these are the first of many scholarships in the future. The emphasis should be on the decree that the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan gave regarding having a scholarship foundation in commemoration of Brother Lieutenant Khalil Muhammad.”
