Muslims from the Nation of Islam’s flagship Mosque Maryam gathered at The Foodie’s Spot restaurant across the street to prepare, pack and deliver meals to the less fortunate in the city of Chicago.
The post-worship service act of kindness March 13 reflected the Islamic values of charity, kindness, and love. Carmella Muhammad, owner of The Foodie’s Spot organized the free meals and feeding of the homeless, which has been a regular project of the Believers in Chicago. Medical students from the University of Chicago joined the effort by conducting screenings and referring people with medical issues to places for help. In addition to nutritious meals, smiles and warm spirits were free copies of The Final Call newspaper, published by the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam, donated by the Fruit of Islam.
