CHICAGO—Muslims from Mosque Maryam in Chicago recently did their part to help those in need in the “Windy City.” FOI and MGT (the men and women of the Nation of Islam) distributed dinners to community residents on the South Side of Chicago. They stopped at various location to provide a fresh, hot meal to people in need, some who may not know where their next meal is coming from and others who just need a helping hand. Meals included chicken, fish, rice and vegetables.
The brothers and sisters also distributed water, face masks and Final Call newspapers. Medical students from the University of Chicago under the direction of Dr. Abdullah Hassan-Pratt assisted efforts by conducting health screenings to residents, which included blood pressure and glucose checks.
The Jan. 24 community outreach was coordinated by Student Minister Shahid Muhammad and Sister Carmella Muhammad.
