As the old year goes out and a new year comes in, there is anticipation and hope that the future will be better and brighter than the immediate past. Resolutions are made to change, plans are conceived and a new spirit seems to permeate the atmosphere.

The New Year, hopefully, brings new desires and a new commitment or a renewed commitment to do what is right, just and necessary. And, if we can envision and commit to a fight for financial advancement, to lose weight or eliminate negative people and negativity from our lives, nothing is wrong with worthwhile personal goals and efforts at self-improvement.

But we should also consider a recommitment to fight for the full and complete freedom of our people and to do all we can to make the idea of nationhood a reality. In a world where the enemy is unrelenting, merciless, cunning and manipulative, opposing him and his minions is an arduous task. Remember that in the Bible, in Revelation, the snake in Genesis has grown to be a great dragon who sits before a women in the throes of birth and desires to devour her child.

We have been taught this represents the enemy before the Messenger of God, or God’s Servant, who is pregnant with a new idea, a new way of life and a new nation. The Dragon, the 6,000-year-old enemy, desires to destroy the Messenger and that which the Messenger seeks to bring into reality as the fulfillment of the Will of Almighty God Allah.

The Bible also tells us that the Dragon is not successful and the woman and her offspring escape his grasp and his death plot.

That does not mean that the battle with Satan and his hosts will be an easy one. The Holy Qur’an warns us not to expect a short journey and a near gain, but it does promise victory to the Believers and Allah (God) commands us to fight.

“Fight them; Allah will chastise them at your hands and bring them to disgrace, and assist you against them and relieve the hearts of a believing people,” the Holy Qur’an promises the Believers in Verse 14 of Chapter 9: “Al-Bara’at–The Immunity,” in the Maulana Muhammad Ali translation.

“And remove the rage of their hearts. And Allah turns (mercifully) to whom He pleases. And Allah is Knowing, Wise,” Verse 15 continues in the same chapter. In Verse 16, Allah declares: “Do you think that you would be left alone while Allah has not yet known those of you who struggle hard and take not anyone as an intimate friend besides Allah and His Messenger and the believers? And Allah is Aware of what you do.”

So this an old fight against an old enemy, the hypocrites allied with the old enemy, the weak-hearted ones and the internal weaknesses of our own selves. It is a struggle, a contest, a place in the arena and a test of our hearts, minds and faith.Would you turn back? Would you turn back and suffer the abuses of an old, heartless slavemaster and the day-to-day degradation Black people suffer in America? Would you return to old sins and old haunts seeking to hide from that which cannot be averted? The Holy Qur’an says that we can flee to a cave and hide and if Allah has decreed a judgment for us, His judgement will find us. There is no hiding place.

Consider what Allah promises those who fight: He promises us victory. He promises to raise us to eminence in the world. He promises that the enemy suffers as we suffer, but give good news to the Believers who will enjoy the ultimate prize and joy. He promises the enemy will, not may, will be driven into hell with all who follow him.

Allah says that He loves the steadfast. He loves those who strive hard in His way. He loves those who call on Him and rely on Him for their strength. He says in the Holy Qur’an that He will give us security after insecurity. He promises us that if we suffer, the enemy suffers and is deprived as we are deprived–but the enemy is doomed to destruction.

“Surely Allah will make those who believe and do good deeds enter Gardens wherein flow rivers–they are adorned therein with bracelets of gold and (with) pearls. And their garments therein are of silk,” says the Holy Qur’an in Chapter 22: Al-Hajj–The Pilgrimage in Verse 23.

“And they are guided to pure words, and they are guided to the path of the Praised One,” continues Verse 24. “Those who disbelieve and hinder (men) from Allah’s way and from the Sacred Mosque, which We have made equally for all men, (for) the dweller therein and the visitor. And whoever inclines therein to wrong, unjustly, We shall make him taste of painful chastisement,” Allah promises in Verse 25.

Praise be to Allah, who has guided us to this.

The year 2018 was a year of assault on our beloved Servant, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, and an assault on our Nation and our people. As the Bible says, smite the shepherd, scatter the sheep. Scattered defenseless, helpless lost sheep are easy prey for a blood thirsty beast and cannot fend for themselves. So the good shepherd who would give his life for the sheep is hated by the beast and those who desire kinship with the beast and nearness to the beast and its systems of reward and punishment.

These attacks are not going to slow down in 2019. The enemy is not going to simply walk away and let bygones be bygones. The enemy, the beast, the Dragon will not be happy until he has destroyed all of us. We need to be clear about that and we need to be clear about our stand and our duty. We plan to fight this enemy and will not be cowed by his lies and his supposed power, because he is not all powerful. The Mighty One is on our side and we should be with Him. We must speak strongly, boldly, intelligently and passionately in defense of our Minister. We must go after our people in a committed and serious way as part of the fight against the beast and may the beast die in his rage. We must support the mosques, the study groups, the officials and support one another. We are soldiers in the Cause of Allah and we will surely win. Let’s take this fight to the enemy in 2019.
