“An envious person is the worst kind of person because he will kill you.”
I heard these words spoken by the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, in the spring of 1956.
I wondered over the depth of these words because many people murder for different reasons.
What was it about envy that caused these words?
No one wants to be seen as envious. Yet many are. There are many instances in which envy is revealed.
For example, a person may not want you to enjoy the same privileges he or she has. He/she may be in some higher position than you. He/she may also have control over some items that would make life easier than you now have it.
But this person withholds the items from you that you may have had a right to. Your comfort is not his/her objective. He/her wants you to be uncomfortable.
This also involves lies or lying.
This illustrates the evil nature of envy.
Another illustration: You have just purchased four new tires for your car. Another may have a better or worse car than you.
He/her may not have new tires. That is not the question. The fact is that you have a car and especially–four new tires.
The envier, envies you, for those tires. When you are not aware, he/she cuts holes in your tires.
Or, as may just as likely occur, the envier may do nothing about your tires. Yet he, or she, wishes you did not have them.
In addition, the envier dislikes you for buying them with your own money that you may have worked very hard and saved for. This also is envy and depicts its inner nature.
What is envy?
Envy is that which distorts a person’s perception of reality to the extent that the envier sees no merit in whatever is the object of his envy, despite its merit.
Envy makes a person speak evil of that towards which his/her envy is directed to help himself or herself feel good.
Actually envy does not “help” the envier. He/she only deludes himself/herself into thinking this, while not seeing that he/she is envious, nor its evil.
Ill-will, begrudging others that which is theirs are central factors making up envy.
The above does not cover all that can be written or what defines envy. Nor was it intended to do so. On the other hand, the above is not mere theory. There are many people, more than you can count, who have been robbed, mutilated and murdered because someone else envied them.
Innocent people have been sent to death or to prison because of the envy of others.
Many have served as witnesses, in trials, for example, who persuaded themselves that their self-distorted views and information was true.
Their accusation of the guiltless was based on their envy-distorted observations.
The above I wrote some years ago. I made very few changes in it for this article.

The public has not had the actual or full knowledge of God until now. The veil, or the partition, or that, generally, which separates man from God, and which has kept God veiled from man/women, has only recently been removed.
This involves the book of Revelation 10:7 “that in the last days or in the days of the voice of the 7th angel, the mystery of God should be finished.”
“The mystery of God,” or veil, has only recently been removed by God Himself.”
This is the “last days.”
He has done this in His coming, and by revealing Himself and the most important of all truths to the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. But this knowledge, or unveiling, did not come except through the most excruciatingly painful period since life has been.
The last 6,000 years of Satan’s rule, in general, that’s the enslavement of Black people in America, in particular, and we are not out of it yet, 100 percent.
However, I heard a very intelligent White doctor, who specializes in the study of viruses, speak of how we get the common cold. She traced its work and how it duplicates itself in our cells.
At a certain point, she observed, the body begins to fight back. That is when, she continued, we begin to feel sick.
The congestion, the fever, the headache, the bodily aches and pains, are all symptoms that are contrary to what the person who has the cold often thinks. These are actually indicators or signs that the body is in the process of defeating the viruses.
We don’t feel the virus when it first begins its work. It spreads, and then the body begins to fight back. That’s when we know we have a cold, according to this doctor.
As I listened to her, I was reminded of such saying as, in the Bible:
“The darkest hour is before dawn,” and of other wisely worded insights of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, including those of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan in his Self-improvement Study Guides.
So it is with the tremendous up-stir in the forces of nature and in the nations of the earth, as well as in individuals. The war that is going on in each of us is between God and his enemy. The battle is not only throughout the earth, but it is in the hearts and minds of the people who make up the population of the planet earth.
One of the main purposes of the book of Revelation, which is said to have been written during a time of persecution of the early Christians, was to keep the persecuted aware that despite the dark clouds of oppression, the sun was still in its place and was shining.
The dark clouds would soon vanish.
