CONCERNING A LETTER BY THE HONORABLE ELIJAH MUHAMMAD ON HIS ESCAPE FROM A DEATH PLOT

On the morning of June 17, 2002 I received a phone call from Sister Andrea Muhammad of Muhammad Mosque #12, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the effect that she received a letter from Minister Rodney Muhammad (of that same Mosque) for me.

It was the letter I referred to on page 114 of the eighth chapter of this book that was written to me by the Honorable Elijah Muhammad in November 1966.

I had it when I published this book in 1983 and in 1990. It did not occur to me to mention nor include it in those printings.

However, I did not have this letter at the time this book was published in 2001. If I did I would have published it in that printing which was about double the size of the previous two.

If you notice, I did not mention, in that chapter, whether or not this letter came up in what he told me of his future escape from a death plot. The letter was not on my mind at the time of our discussion, which developed, for me, quite unexpectedly. Nevertheless, I was and am grateful to Allah and to him for what he did tell me.

I am very thankful to Allah for blessing me that day with that letter. I hope you share this gratitude. And, perhaps this letter will stimulate deeper thought over the future of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.

P.S.

On June 5, 2006 I interviewed the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan on a number of topics. One of them was what he thought about my idea of placing the letter that the Honorable Elijah Muhammad sent to me back in November 1966, in this book. Here was his response.

“There is no witness stronger than his own witness of what he knew would come to him, except Allah. He told you in the letter that he would escape a death plot. He gave several instances of scripture that confirmed that.

“So our saying he’s alive is strengthened by his words and he confirms what we’ve been saying that he is alive in the face of those who say: ‘Well the Honorable Elijah Muhammad never said nothing like that’ or ‘I don’t believe the Honorable Elijah Muhammad is alive.’

“Well here’s a letter that he wrote at such and such a time in a certain context. And he bears witness that he would be taken on the heel of a death plot. Then, in connection with this death plot, the Honorable Elijah Muhammad told you that, ‘If Allah had not shown me how I was going to escape, I would have no hope.’ ”

In other books to be reprinted, and in others to be published soon, be it the will of Allah, I intend to cite testimonies from Minister Farrakhan and others on this subject of the veracity of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad’s statement in his letter, and that he is indeed, alive, well and in power.

In Fall of America, chapter 58, he wrote: “The disbeliever believes that which he sees present and not that which is prophesied to come.”

The Meaning of This Cover

The cover of this book has meaning. The photo of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad I selected for this cover suggests (to me) the profoundly deep side of his being that could, and can only be accessed by the spirit and permission of Allah.

It is in the heart where the depth of the powers of the human being resides. There is where the intent and motive are formed and housed. There is where the Honorable Elijah Muhammad was often misunderstood.

So, when I wrote the letter that forms the heart of this book in December 1975, the Honorable Elijah Muhammad was, to most, a fading memory.

Since 1977, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan has and is yet changing the thinking of the world about his teacher.

These two facts account for my placing this photograph of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, on this book’s cover, in what is called in the printing industry “ghost” and then elsewhere in its original color and sharpness.

Minister Farrakhan recommended to me that this letter (which again, forms the heart of this book) be published in 1982. He also recommended the wording and the form of its title. Minister Farrakhan’s recommendation was but another manifestation of the nature of the content of his heart.

He wanted for others that which he had of good for himself. After much difficulty, it was published the following year. In fact, this book has had a very controversial and difficult history.

I’ve placed the title in green as this represents the profound nature of the truth it suggests and the wise reasons for which Minister Farrakhan wanted others to read it.

The green is intended to remind us of the extraordinary nature of the wisdom of the wise man, from whom Moses sought wisdom, according to the 18th Surah of the Holy Qur’an, which is a sign of the even more extraordinary wisdom of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad.

The photos of Minister Farrakhan that I’ve selected for this book, are intended to suggest that the process of the changes, I’ve indicated above, are taking place.

May Allah bless each reader of this little book to think more deeply than ever over the answer to the questions it raises to which I’ve placed three question marks, which indicated “trial.”

Thank you for reading this.

P.S.

Briefly, this book’s cover signifies two time periods and two truths. The first was the time and circumstances under which the original part of this book was written. Since then its size has a little over doubled. This has been explained in this book, which was written at the end of 1975. The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan did not receive   it until 1977.

During all of that time the Honorable Elijah Muhammad had become, and was becoming, more and more of a fading memory in the minds of most who followed him.

This was also true of those outside of his following.

Hence, I’ve presented an image of him that was faded when the core of this book was written. The second time period began on February 22, 1981. That’s when Minister Farrakhan announced before approximately 3,000 people that the Honorable Elijah Muhammad was in fact alive. Minister Farrakhan began to spread this fact throughout America. He increasingly was bringing his teacher back to life in the minds and hearts of a growing number of people.

Minister Farrakhan was the one who suggested to me that the material that he read in 1980, which originally was a letter, be published. That was early 1983. It was also at that time that he suggested the title: Is It Possible That The Honorable Elijah Muhammad Is Still Physically Alive???

The question he raised fits the scope and nature of the original book. It was to raised the possibility, first in his mind and next, in the minds of others.

It took Almighty God Allah to make that possibility a reality in the heart and mind of Minister Farrakhan–not his book. That’s true of others. That’s why I have the letters of it’s title coming down from above.

I used the color green to state two facts in one sentence. It is that it is a great truth that the Honorable Elijah Muhammad is still physically alive.

Be it the will of Allah this brief statement of the significance of this book’s cover may be expanded in some other book.

Thank you for reading this.

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, in Chicago Illinois, on February 22, 1981 announced to about three thousand people that the Honorable Elijah Muhammad was alive. Later, in The Final Call, in 1984 he wrote:

“I, Louis Farrakhan, am saying to the word that the Honorable Elijah Muhammad is not physically dead. I am further stating that he was made to appear as such as written in the Bible and in the Holy Qur’an, in order that the scriptures might be fulfilled.

“We stand ready, at any time, to pay for the exhuming of the ‘body’ of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad and we stand ready to pay for the two dentists who worked on his teeth to compare their dental records with the dental records obtained from examination of the ‘body.’ We will also pay for two other dentists to make an examination and give their findings.

“I am willing to go before the world to be seen as one whose belief that the Honorable Elijah Muhammad is physically alive is false; or, be manifested as the true representative of the Mahdi and the Messiah, the Christ that the world is now looking for and whose return is imminent.”

Of this book, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan stated:

“In reading [this book] particularly the scriptural references, certain things that the Honorable Elijah Muhammad said to me began to make complete sense. In fact the whole New Testament, after the four gospels, began to make very good sense to me.

“Then, I became convinced that my father was alive indeed … .”

More next issue, Allah willing.
