–Presentation of Love and Reflections from Muhammad University of Islam Students from Detroit, Michigan–

“And certainly We conferred a favour on Moses and Aaron.   And We delivered them, and their people from the mighty distress.   And We helped them, so they were the vanquishers.   And We gave them both the clear Book.” —Holy Qur’an, Surah 37, verses 114-117

Some of the students from Muhammad University of Islam in Detroit, Michigan, directed by Student Directress Chinyerim Muhammad and her staff of assistants, presented a closing skit summing up their impressions of being on Bimini during our May 15 – May 21 retreat to the island this year.   This skit was performed in the plaza annexed to a small shopping mall where one of the women vendors, whom we have met on previous visits to the island, joyfully applauds the students and welcomed us back again.   She also expressed her desire to become a part of our ongoing activities in her island home and wishes to join our studies.

One of our young sisters and student of M.U.I. in Detroit named Sammayyah, who is 15 years of age wrote a poem, which I include in my article, along with a list of all the Detroit participants who accompanied us.   We dedicate this series from our youth to our families and friends of Bimini who have a special love in their hearts for us as we do for them. Sister Sumayyah’s poem:

BIMINI
We learned from those who were
originated from
BIMINI,
unveiling the number 19;
BIMINI,
reflecting the world that was,
and is as we go into the future;
BIMINI,
we stand on the  threshold  of history;
BIMINI,
slaves were brought and  shackles  were removed;
BIMINI,
the peaceful land where a cultural revolution begins.
‘’SO STOP THE BOAT AND LET ME OFF IN BIMINI!”

The following words are from Brother Jamal Malik Muhammad, from the Inland Empire, California, whose youthful spirit abounds in his character wrote the following reflections on this last journey to the island of Bimini.

As I reflect on our trip to Bimini, Bahamas, I thought about what stood out to me the most and that is the dawn of a new day.  Not only the dawn of a new day but a new mind, spirit and consciousness.  To me this trip, which will make my second time visiting this beautiful island, was an enrollment into one of the classrooms of higher learning.   Now, when you enroll into a new classroom or school, you have tests or exams upon entering the classroom so that you may be placed in the right class with the proper instructor and in the right level of understanding (grade level).

Now, when it comes to the classrooms of higher learning, we have to ask ourselves, what are the prerequisites?   I believe that the prerequisites are the Teachings of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad. The Teachings lay the foundation for any school of higher learning; it is the core to all study.

The second question we should ask ourselves is: what type of spirit should I have upon entering the class?   If there is one thing I learned on this trip it would be to always keep the right spirit when being guided by Almighty God             Allah. We should always keep an open mind especially when it involves the mysteries or higher levels of thought.   The more our minds are open and our spirits are aligned perfectly with Allah and His living Christ, then the more we will see worlds opening up to us.   Maybe that’s why children are most times more in tuned than adults, and just maybe this is why children see things that we don’t see.

Jesus said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.”  I believe that we must be like children in pursuit of knowledge.   Children are not afraid.   They are curious.   They want to know and learn all that they can about whatever it is they do not know. With that said, could it be that maybe that was the reason why there were a total of nine students on this trip? (Something to think about.) However, we are all students in the classroom of Allah, but what is it that Allah is trying to show us all?   Could it be that we as adults young and mature missed some key important steps in our understanding of life and the Teachings of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad?  Were the children chosen by Allah (and they were) as a sign to us (adults) that the steps we missed were not keeping the proper spirit while in the classroom, and being afraid to move out on that which we know is good and proper?

These are the questions I have asked myself, and I am still asking myself even now.   So in order for Allah to guide us we must do away with that “old mentality” the, I’m too old for that;” “That’s children’s play;” “I don’t have time for that.”   So let’s not overlook our children.   They have a lot to offer if we would only listen to them.

 I can honestly say that I enjoyed being around all of the youth on this trip. They reminded me of my childhood which was not that long ago. They showed me that no matter what, never be afraid to take chances as long as they are right (smile) and walk out on faith (smile).

So the Classroom of higher learning is something that we all MUST set our minds for. I believe that the Teachings of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, along with the Classrooms of higher learning is how the Hereafter is going to be established.   We most certainly cannot forget who the guide is and the Master Teacher over us all. We would not have these Teachings if it were not for Him, and we would not be who we are were it not for the one who created us in our mother’s wombs, Almighty God Allah.

The writings say that the people of Atlantis were a people who were highly enlightened with knowledge. They say that Atlantis was divided into two groups, one of light, who took the knowledge and wisdom that they had and used it for good, and the others were of darkness who also took the knowledge and wisdom,  but used it for weaponry. Sound familiar?

They say that it is prophesied that Atlantis will one day rise again.   How? After being on this trip and entering one of the classrooms of higher learning, I believe as we have learned that Atlantis will rise within us! I can never thank Almighty God Allah and his Living Christ, the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad for guiding me, and always making sure I stay on track.   I want to thank the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan for his love and continued support for Mxodus coffee and the Mxodus Team.   Words cannot express how much I am thankful for Mother Tynnetta Muhammad who is truly a Mother to us all.   I thank you for seeing in me what I did not see myself; I thank you for helping me and guiding me also with love just like a mother would do. Thank YOU so much, I love you.

To My Mxodus Team, thank you for being steadfast with me and understanding; we have a great work ahead of us and I am glad to be sharing in this work with you.

“And We guided them on the right way. And We granted them among the later generations (the salutation), Peace be to Moses and Aaron!   Thus do We reward the doers of good. Surely they were both of Our believing servants.”—Holy Qur’an, Surah 37, verses 118-122
