(FinalCall.com) – The military commander of the rebels fighting against the government led by Col. Muammar Gadhafi in Libya has been killed leaving the opposition’s forces in turmoil.

Mustafa Abdul-Jalil, the leader of what is called the National Transactional Council–the name given to the Western-backed opposition fighting to topple the government–announced July 28 that General Abdel Fattah Younes, 67, was assassinated.

“With all grief and sadness, we announce the death of Major General Abdel Fattah Younes,” said Mr. Jalil also announcing the deaths of two others, Colonel Mohammed Khamis and Major Nasser Mathkour at a late night press conference.

Media analysts say the death of Gen. Younes represents a significant setback not only for the numerically small, poorly trained and ill-equipped rebels, but also the U.S., led NATO coalition which includes Britain and France as they have worked tirelessly to undermine the established government of Libya in an attempt to kill the African nation’s leader, Col. Gadhafi.

Details remain murky regarding Gen. Younes’ death and conflicting stories are circulating regarding whether he was killed by members of a faction of the divided opposition, or killed by forces loyal to Col. Gadhafi.

Original reports stated he had been arrested for questioning regarding possible ties to Col. Gadhafi’s government. Numerous media reports in the U.S and abroad have reportedly centered on an armed rebel group called the February 17 Martyrs’ Brigade, who according to members of Younes’ tribe, took him away for interrogation and never returned. The leadership of the February 17 Martyrs’ Brigade is said to consist of many members of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group which violently opposed Col. Gadhafi’s rule in the 1990s.

Gen. Younes was a previously a high ranking member of Col. Gadhafi’s government served both as the head of Libya’s special forces and the interior minister. His defection to the side of the rebels was seen as a major victory for the opposition. His death is now a cause for concern among those heavily involved in the destabilization of the Libyan government.

The Tripoli Post reports there had been a continuing public rivalry between Gen. Younes and his rival military command, Khalifa Hifter contributing to a “pervasive sense of chaos in the ranks.” Suleiman Mahmoud al-Obeidi, a senior deputy to Gen. Younes is reportedly the new head of rebel military forces.

The burned and bullet ridden body of Gen. Younes was returned to his family buried after an emotional funeral July 29 in Benghazi, the de facto capital of the Western-backed Libyan opposition.

Since his death, there have been several gunfights beteween between rebel factions.

According to the Associated Press, Gen. Younes’ young son Ashraf broke down crying and screaming as his father’s body was lowered into the ground and reportedly shouted in frustration: “We want Muammar to come back! We want the green flag back!”

In another bizarre twist, Eman al-Obeidi, whose highly publicized–though never proven–claims of rape and other atrocities allegedly by Gaddafi’s forces arrived in the United States July 27. According to reports she is seeking asylum and will take up permanent residence here. Her claims were spread worldwide by the controlled media, which also refuses to tell the truth regarding Col. Gadhafi’s accomplishments, including major irrigation projects which benefitted the people of Benghazi and Tobruk–areas which are now strongholds for the opposition as a result of Western interference.

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan in a June 15 press conference held in New York exposed the international skullduggery of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), The United Nations, Britain, U.S. and France while delivering a pointed warning to the combatants in this contrived civil war.

“I am telling my Libyan brothers, whether they are in Benghazi or Tripoli: The Western world does not intend to give you justice! They will use you; and in the end, they will suck your blood! They have gathered like vultures, and they’ll pick your flesh as soon as they finish picking his (Col. Gadhafi),” said Min. Farrakhan.
