“And nothing prevents people from believing, when the guidance comes to them, except that they say: Has Allah raised up a mortal to be a messenger? Say: Had there been in the earth angels walking about secure, We would have sent down to them from the heaven an angel as messenger.”
–Holy Qur’an, Surah 17, verses 94-95

The second part of Problem No. 32, which appears in the Problem Book of the Supreme Wisdom Lessons, is entitled: B. No. 1. It continues speaking about the uncle of Mr. W.D. Fard who lived in the wilderness of North America. He is working sixteen hours out of twenty-four hours for a very little pay. He has eight in his family to support. We are then introduced to a “Cave man” (representing the Caucasian or White race), who sells him an old touring Car which travels downhill at the rate of forty-eight miles per hour. From the above words comes the title of my article. What might this mean to the student, and how might this be applied to our current expedition traveling Down South to the country of Mexico?

In my first mathematical figures, I multiplied the number 48 by the number 60 which is equal to 60 minutes in each hour, with the result of 2,88[0]. This figure equals twice the number of 144, which is the square of the number 12. In our outreach to our aboriginal family members living in Mexico, this would make another nucleus group of 144,000 people who will also be counting among the stars representing a New World Order. This is only intended as food for thought as we continue our journey and testimonials of those who travelled with us downhill to Mexico in our “University on Wheels.” The following is a report from Sister Chinyerim, Columbus, Ohio:

As I rode on the touring bus that has become our “University on Wheels,” several words came into my mind: MATER (mother), MATTER, MATERIAL, MA’AT and MATHEMATICS. These words formed an equation or formula in my mind. As a single mother of five, the sacrifice to go to Mexico (especially this trip) was significant, to say the least. But at that moment, I got a glimpse of what we were truly engaged in and the heart of the work and our involvement.

MATERIAL has been defined as the substance of which a thing is made or composed; anything that serves as crude or raw matter to be used or developed. MATERIAL also means a group of ideas, facts, data, etc., that may provide the basis for or be incorporated into some integrated work. MATERIAL can mean a person considered as having qualities suited to a particular sphere of activity. In law, MATERIAL has been defined as something (or someone) pertinent or essential; likely to influence the determination of a case; being of real importance or consequence; being relevant to a subject under consideration; specifically: being something (or someone) to be taken into consideration by a reasonable person in acting or making a decision. Lastly, MATERIAL is something (or someone) used for or made the object of consideration or study: as in “evidence” and is of sufficient importance or relevance as to have possible significant influence on an outcome.

The word material is derived from the word MATTER which is the substance composing our universe and our very beings. According to the scientist Lee Smolin, “Fully 70 percent of the matter density in the universe appears to be in the form of dark energy. Twenty-six percent is dark matter. Only 4 percent is ordinary matter. So less than 1 part in 20 is made out of matter we have observed experimentally or described in the standard model of particle physics. Of the other 96 percent, apart from the properties just mentioned, we [the Enemy speaking] know absolutely nothing.” [Note: This can be said of the current educational system as well. The schools “know absolutely nothing” about how to truly educate a person and tap the vast resources of the human mind.]

And there is an interesting connection between MATTER and MATER. MATER, in many languages, means “Mother.” According to Sri Ramakrishna, darkness is the Ultimate Mother: “My Mother is the principle of consciousness. She is Akhanda Satchidananda; indivisible Reality, Awareness, and Bliss. The night sky between the stars is perfectly black. The waters of the ocean depths are the same; The infinite is always mysteriously dark.” On this trip, as with all of the tours I have been on, we would work and study into the night (dark). There are other names related to MATER with similar meanings, one such name being MAYA, the name given to the original people of Mexico. The ancient Maya were great artists and architects and also made great discoveries in the field of mathematics and astronomy (basis of new education) and were considered to be great experts in these fields. The name MAYA has also been defined as Queen and goddess. In fact, Queen Māyā was the birth mother of the historical Gautama Buddha and the first woman ordained by the Buddha. Another derivation MAIA meaning “mother or great one,” in Greek mythology is the name of a goddess, the eldest of the Pleiades, the name given to the seven daughters of Atlas and Pleione and in astronomy, is the brightest star in the Pleiades. MAIA was said to be “the most beautiful. Being shy, she lived quietly and alone in a cave on Mount Cyllene, in Arcadia.”

Brother Steven Muhammad reporting from Phoenix, Arizona

Among some of the many thoughts I have been reflecting on from this latest trip to Costa Chica was how hospitable the people were. We were greeted on the highway by a police officer that smiled and waved at us as we turned onto the only road in and out of town. It did not occur to us at first, but he was waiting on our humble group to escort us into town.

When we got off of the bus, all eyes were on us with looks of both curiosity and joy. We were very well received and taken care of. The whole town pitched in to provide enough food for everyone who came. Everything was made fresh that day from scratch. The people were so friendly.

At the presentations and the round table discussions young and old, men, women and children all listened intensely. They were like brand new sponges absorbing every word that was said. A lot of ground was covered over this fantastic weekend. We learned about the people of Costa Chica, and they learned about us. We learned from them and they learned from us. It was like a family reunion over 400 years in the making.

After I had some time to think about the day’s events, some thoughts kept replaying in my mind. I could not stop thinking on how universal the teachings of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad are. For every question they raised to us about the lack of knowledge they had about education, history, and culture, you name it, we had the right answers. We can go anywhere on the earth and teach what The Honorable Elijah Muhammad gave to us from the Master Teacher. I also could not stop thinking about how many times I have gone out with The Final Call to take to the people and they rejected it as if it was going to do them harm; and here are a people yearning for the teachings. It is a mere reminder of the work we need to do with all of our people in America. We cannot tire or quit on our posts, Brothers and Sisters.

Lastly, I truly enjoyed Brother Jabril and Dr. Patina traveling with us on this trip. Brother Jabril shared so much insight on so many things with all of us. It was so good to see so much joy on his face throughout the entire trip. We were all so grateful that he could make it.
