The newest single released by rap artist Jadakiss is called “Why?” The artist, Jason Phillips from Yonkers, N.Y. looks at current events and asks the simple but basic question, why?

“Why is the industry designed to keep the artist in debt?”

“Why they stop lettin’ n—rs get degreez in jail?”

“Why you gotta do eighty-five percent of your time?”

The anti-Muslim era sweeping our nation has jaundiced our senses to accept what is clearly absurd. The response by these groups is totally nonsensical. These students are innocent of terrorism. If anyone thought they had something to do with anything directly or remotely related to terrorism, those graduates would be with the rest of the Muslims locked up and wondering why they can’t get a lawyer or see their family.

Jadakiss doesn’t provide answers, but he does make you think. Using that song as a backdrop, why did the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and right-wing and pro-Israel groups protest the decision by Muslim students graduating from the University of California to wear draped green stoles with printed Arabic phrases that translated to mean, “There is no god but God and Muhammad is the Messenger of God” and “God, increase my knowledge”?

Why did they think that expression, a declaration of faith, also known in Arabic as the shahada, was “an expression of hate” that is “closely identified” with terrorism and is “offensive to Jewish students”?

Why did the Jewish groups’ claim that the color green, commonly associated with Islam as the favorite color of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him), “is the color of Hamas” and therefore, an expression of support for terrorism?

The government no longer needs rhyme or reason–suspicion will suffice. We don’t even know how many Muslims are detained and in jail without indictment or trial.

It’s a new day and Muslims have become the new Negro. Azhar Usman tells a joke in “The Official Muslim Comedy Tour” that Blacks can’t get a fair trial. Muslims and Arabs, he goes on to joke, can’t even get a trial.

When does it end and how far will it go?

So, students, who were simply expressing their religion, are now accused of supporting terrorism, while green is supposed to be the color of Hamas. How ridiculous!

Are we truly supposed to think green is the color of terrorism–because the U.S. Army wears it and the terrorist monetary policy of the U.S. is based on the almighty dollar, the greenback?

Green is the color of Islam. Every Holy Qur’an you see is either green or tinted with green; it is considered the color of peace and serenity. The Southern California office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has demanded that the ADL apologize to Muslims for their, “hate-filled Islamophobic rhetoric.”

Don’t hold your breath. The very fact that Muslim students would organize for anything is frightening only to those who want to block the light of truth. Islam is the fastest growing religion in America. In spite of all that’s done to make Muslims look like the boogey man, the terrorist next door and the suicide bomber just waiting to detonate, the community can clearly see the difference.

Why can’t Muslim children demonstrate their love for God in the manner they please? Why can’t Muslims live in peace in America? Why did anti-Muslim incidents show a 70 percent increase across the country in 2003?

The false claim of religious tolerance that America says she has is now being shown for something else: “We’ll tolerate you as long as you are approved and sanctioned by the Jews.”

Why? The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan explained in a speech that, “History says that those who are moved by the spirit to go contrary to the flow of traffic toward madness, and who wish to be recorded as a sane voice, though crying in the wilderness for peace, are often reviled and persecuted, maligned and evil spoken of by their contemporaries, who never quite get to know them until after they’re gone.”

History will record the fact that Muslims, as a group, are purveyors of peace as our religion dictates. We are not the picture portrayed by the ADL or the American media, which has fueled the increasing anti-Muslim incidents across the country.

Around the world, people are angry with U.S. foreign policy towards their people and country. Minister Farrakhan said that the greater the injustice, the greater the imbalance.

So, what we are tragically witnessing are the results of that injustice and the actions of imbalanced people who love death as much as we love life–not the color of green.
