From the cradle to the grave, Black life is the victim of a modern genocide that is so skillful and deceptive in its approach that all around the country lives are lost continually without even so much as a hue and cry from the victims. Black life is devalued, undervalued and so valueless that the infant mortality rate for Black babies is more than twice that of White babies.

If we make it past the first year of life and grow up, if you’re Black and male, you face health challenges that decrease your life expectancy, even as America scales new heights in medical advances. Police brutality is more of a constant than a variable. Drugs have become the “Pied Piper” of the Black community, leading our men into the river of incarceration and death, while Black women suffer alone with children wondering if their families will ever be whole.

Our marriage rates are so low that we were better off right after slavery in 1890 when 80 percent of us were married. To add insult to injury, even if we do get married, we don’t know how to stay married–giving us the worst figures in divorce, too. The destruction of the Black family is an ongoing and ominous work in progress. AIDS is ravaging our community in general, with devastating effects on young Black women in particular, who lead the numbers of new cases. Our unemployment rates are persistently the highest in the country, regardless of the economic climate. Whatever is the worst, we lead and whatever is the best, we bring up the rear.

Are these just coincidences? Are we just inherently inferior? Or is it prophecy being fulfilled that we would be the intended targets of a real conspiracy? Bible, Exodus 1:10-22, –Holy Qur’an, Surah 7:127-129.

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan said in Washington, D.C., November 14 that we live in the times of a mounting conspiracy. Genocide is the systemic killing of a national, racial, ethnic or political group. What is happening today to Black people are spokes on the wheel of genocide. It is not happenstance; it is by design.

This is not the genocide of historic villains like Germany’s Adolf Hitler or Belgium’s King Leopold. This is not the contemporary genocide of tribal factions in Rwanda or the ethnic cleansing of Bosnia. This is a more subtle, but equally deadly, form of mass murder.

The worst aspect of it all is the complicity with the perpetrator by the victims; some Blacks are willing participants in our own demise. Some relish and welcome the enemy with open arms.

Why do we continue to abuse and deal in illegal drugs? Why do we continue to keep our mouth in our enemy’s kitchen, while we dig our graves with our teeth? Why do we disrespect and mistreat our women and celebrate the image of a pimp?

We must assume a greater responsibility for our own survival.

We want freedom. We want a full and complete freedom, as the Honorable Elijah Muhammad writes in point number one of “What The Muslims Want” in the Muslim Program printed on the back page of The Final Call newspaper.

Presently, we seem only to be free to be fools and tools for our enemies. Too many of us feel free to be buffoons, pimps, and whores for their amusement. We reject that kind of illusory freedom, which only leads to our death and destruction.

We demand a real freedom! The one who is teaching us to survive and prosper in the midst of genocide is the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan who is bringing us the life giving teachings of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, which lead to freedom, indeed.

Unless and until, Black America comes to grips with this fact, we will continue by our weakness and disunity to serve up our children into the clutches of a society that means them no good at all. We will either all be free or we will all be dead. The choice is yours. This is The Final Call!
