“And say to My servants that they speak what is best. Surely the devil sows dissentions among them. The devil is surely an open enemy to man.”Holy Qur’an, Surah 17, verse 53

In every stage of our journey in life, there are setbacks and obstacles that confront us in attaining our projected goals. The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan characterized these difficulties in many lectures to the community by describing struggle as being ordained as an essential part of our life’s journey to meet with our Lord. He has also stated that the first casualty in any war or battle is Truth.

The above verse defines perfectly some of the contentions that arise in the process of defending Truth. Most often our detractors arise from the enemy within who invent lies and falsehood leading to arguments, in- house fighting and the disruption of peace in the attempt to abort the Mission both at home and abroad. Thus through manipulation, fear and trepidation, we are derailed temporarily from achieving the goals.

The Honorable Elijah Muhammad stated in the following words that we are living in the Days of Allah, which is a contest between Believers and Disbelievers, of whom the latter may appear to have the upper hand during a certain period of time, until Allah separates them into groups. When the Disbelievers join forces with the Hypocrites, they appear to be a formidable party or group. But the Party of Allah, (The Believers) will always be the Winners at the end of the day. Thus, the Believers are enjoined to seek assistance through patience and prayer in overcoming all obstacles in defending Truth against falsehood.

The study of Korea and the attempt of its Society and People to build bridges of friendship with the Nation of Islam over the years presents us with a remarkable study. The point of origin of this activity was initiated through the example of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, when he first opened the doors of trade between Korea and the Nation of Islam in the early 1970’s.

There is nothing that we say or do that does not find its root in a word or an action on the part of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. He is the Foundation of our Faith in Almighty God, Allah, and His Religion of Truth, Islam.

In the Rebuilding phase of the Nation of Islam under the Spiritual leadership of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, this link of Divine word and action in the example of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad is inseparable to the quality and success of his work as a Helper of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. He has given us an opportunity to be co-workers with him in this great Cause.

The story of Korea’s Friendship with the Nation of Islam has many diverse paths in its history. I opened this series of articles with the Reverend and Mrs. Sun Myung Moon and the leadership of the Unification Church, and my recent visit to Korea and Mongolia. This story will be covered in the next publication of the Cultural Links News Journal.

I wanted to end this series on Korea by acknowledging those individuals who have worked silently in the background to establish another link to the Nation of Islam as manufacturers of products designed for the Exodus Program.

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan introduced the Exodus Program at Mosque Maryam beginning in 1998, as a self-help economic stimulus that would help the Nation to become more productive by marketing our own products as an incentive for self improvement and community development.

This was the same year when contact was made by an interest sector of the Korean business community through Sister Yoni Kim, who was instrumental in introducing us to manufacturers from Korea that could help to expedite our Exodus Program into the arena of international trade and commerce.

We have experienced a setback of several years in the fruition of this project, which requires our preparation and training to take on the task and responsibility of international trade and commerce, to be accomplished on the basis of mutual respect and the building of friendships between our various nations abroad.

At the root of all relationships with governments and societies is earning the trust and confidence of the people involved in working out all interrelated programs of national development. The Nation of Islam is striving to overcome great difficulties in all these affairs, due in large part to the working of the enemy within.

I have no doubt that we will soon emerge in the forefront of this battle in the preservation of Truth over falsehood. Whatever God has ordained for us, it will come to pass, whether realized in our lifetime or in future generations. God’s Merciful and Providential Hand upon us will not fail!

“Your Lord knows you best. He will have mercy on you, if He please, or He will chastise you, if He please. And We have not sent thee as being in charge of them.”
–Holy Qur’an, Surah 17, verse 54
