(FinalCall.com)–The upcoming 100,000 Man March–called to help stem the flow of violence in the Los Angeles area–recently gained a boost with the endorsement of the Brotherhood Crusade.

Crusade President Danny K. Bakewell Jr., personally issued the call, urging the community to join the efforts of Nation of Islam Western Regional Representative Min. Tony Muhammad and the Peacemakers.

Mr. Bakewell put his money behind his words with a $2,500 donation to the organizing effort. He also encouraged other business and community organizations to come onboard.

“We are also calling on businesses, corporations and community organizations to support this effort because what is good for our community is good for all of Los Angeles,” said Mr. Bakewell, who chaired the West Coast Delegation at the 1995 Million Man March.

“The Brotherhood Crusade is not only proud to support the 100,000 Man March, but more importantly, we are compelled to support it because it is going to help remove our young people from the clutches of the gang violence and the gang culture. Our young people are our responsibility,” he said.

City leaders who have expressed support include L.A. County Supervisor Yvonne Braitwaite Burke and L.A. City Councilpersons Jan Perry, Nate Holden and Bernard Parks, among others.

Grassroots and celebrity support comes from actor Steve Harvey, former basketball star Earvin “Magic” Johnson, activist and football great Jim Brown, activists Bo Taylor, Khalid Shah and Malik Spellman and activist/actor Malik Yoba, among many others.

The theme of the march is “Blessed are the Peacemakers.”

The march is scheduled for May 31.
