“We want our people to be exposed to the best that the Nation of Islam has to offer in terms of etiquette, refinement and righteous fun,” explained event hosts Brother D’Aundre Muhammad and Brother Ron Muhammad.

“Lastly and most importantly, we want to express our love and dedication to our beloved Minister [the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan], who has sacrificed his entire life in the mission of raising the Black man and woman.”

Attendees enjoyed a three-course meal prepared by Sister Haniyyah Muhammad of navy bean soup and salad; a vegetarian, salmon, or chicken entree; and the Supreme Bean Pie for dessert.

Guests also enjoyed dancing and upbeat music played by Brother Demetrius 3X and saxophonist-player, Brother Rahim “The Sax Preacher” Aton.

Student Minister Caleb Muhammad of the city’s West Side thanked Allah (God) and Brothers Ron, Bro. D’Aundre and Bro. Marvel. “The idea came from the West Side [Study Group], but the spirit and energy brought believers from all sides of town.”

Bro. Ron told The Final Call, “When I saw everybody sit down, the turnout was a great success! We did what we had to do to make it happen. This is the foundation we’re standing on!” he continued.

Sister Marcella X said she enjoyed herself at the gathering. “The Sax Preacher was awesome, the food was delicious; lots of smiles and everyone enjoyed themselves,” she said.

The West Side Study Group expressed their gratitude to the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, the M.G.T. and F.O.I. and The Salaam Restaurant staff for the assistance in making the black-tie dinner a success.

CHICAGO—Once again, the Nation of Islam Musical Ensemble did not disappoint with its dazzling and refined performances, featuring skilled orchestral musicians and waltz dancers, on September 27 at Mosque Maryam. It was the ensemble’s second concert tour performance at Mosque Maryam.

The elegant evening was a part of the ensemble’s “Sounds of Harmony Tour” which was inspired by the words of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan to the N.O.I. Musical Ensemble during its inaugural performance at Saviours’ Day 2024:

“All of you were so great, we have a talented family among us, and I want to encourage you to keep going and inspiring others to pick up an instrument, and let’s make the Nation of Islam Symphony Orchestra a reality!” Minister Farrakhan said.

So far, the ensemble has performed in several cities, including Atlanta, Los Angeles, Houston, and New York.

The musicians, dressed in vibrant, colored floor-length gowns and black and white suits, performed a four-part masterpiece which included pieces such as “Nocturne in E Minor, 0p. 72 No. 1” by F. Chopin, played by pianist Jamilah Shakir-Muhammad;

“Tarantella S. Prokofiev-Raging Storm” by M. Bober, played by pianist Timothy Muhammad II; “Leave the Door Open” by Bruno Mars, played by Najm Muhammad on the saxophone; “Evolution” by E. W. Hardy, played by Amirah Imani Muhammad; and much more!

The audience also enjoyed a stunning waltz performance coordinated by Brother Timothy Muhammad and his wife, Sister Nadiyah Muhammad.

The curtains closed, and the ensemble performed the “Muslim Fight Song,” by the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, inviting the audience to sing along.

CHICAGO—Now approaching its 5th anniversary, Final Call Radio has broadcast the Teachings of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad through his servant, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, to reach over six million listeners in 149 countries worldwide.

The platform allows anyone to tune in anywhere, at any time, 24/7 online via www.finalcall.com, www.finalcallradio.com, or by downloading the Final Call Radio app.

Nation of Islam Student Supreme Captain Mustapha Farrakhan, son of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, and radio programmer Michael Saunders have worked tirelessly to ensure that Final Call Radio becomes bigger, better and continues impacting people around the world.

“I feel honored to serve in this capacity,” Brother Michael told The Final Call. “I’ve always wanted to help our Nation and certainly help Minister Farrakhan to take what I’ve been blessed to do for the past 40-some years and give it to our Nation and the believers and everyone who listens [and] really responds to Final Call Radio.”

Hearing from listeners is very important, he explained. “The biggest thing for me as a programmer, I want to hear as many of our voices on Final Call Radio, and let us know where they’re listening from,” he said.

Listeners can tune in to hear excerpts of messages by the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and beautiful melodic selections from his musical project, “Let’s Change The World.” The Nation of Islam’s (N.O.I.) national Sunday 10 a.m. live mosque meetings are also broadcast on the platform as well as segments featuring the N.O.I. Healthy Minute and other content.

In a previous interview with The Final Call newspaper, Brother Mustapha Farrakhan said that the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad told the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan that Allah (God) made friends for him all over the world. “Well, this message is going all the way around the world. So, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan is making friends for us, all the way around the world,” he said.

Tune in and support the 2025 Final Call Radio Thon! Visit www.finalcallradio.com or download the Final Call Radio app! You can also stay up to date with Final Call Radio by following @FinalCallRadio on X and Instagram.

In various cities, Muslims observing the holy month of Ramadan helped distribute meals to their communities in an act of service and kindness. During the holy month Muslims fast from food and beverages during the daylight hours, read the Holy Qur’an, work on strengthening their faith and increase their good deeds, such as feeding those in need.

In Chicago as in previous years, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan gifted free meals to residents. His example inspires members of the Nation of Islam in various mosques and study groups across the country to participate and help to make our communities a decent and safe place to live.

The Fruit of Islam (F.O.I.) and M.G.T. and G.C.C. (Muslim Girls Training and General Civilization Class), the men and women of the Nation of Islam, worked cheerfully as they prepared and delivered meals. This outreach will continue throughout Ramadan.

The acts of kindness and service was met with a smile, and the Muslims’ presence was much appreciated and welcomed in the communities.

It is set to return with its magnificent production of “Bronzeville: The Musical” at the famed Apollo Theater in New York City on November 16 and 17.

“We have a mission and that mission is to inspire through our art,” Ms. Mahdi told The Final Call. “Whatever your art is, we can instill the new world order because it is time.

My particular choice of genre is musical theater because there is nothing like a good story; here is something new, it is shining light on what is taking place with our Black youth, and it is radical and it is bold,” she said. “Our philosophy is that we work as a collective.”

The message behind the musical, she said, is about connecting to one’s history and being an agent of change.

“Bronzeville: The Musical” is a “poignant and captivating journey that follows a father guiding his wayward teenage son on an enlightening path through their ancestral roots.

This soulful musical resonates with themes of redemption, faith, legacy, and the courage of a community, emphasizing the crucial role of history in preserving identity and heritage,” states a media release by Mahdi Theatre Company.

The saga also explores “the Great Migration from the South to Chicago, showcasing the resilience and brilliance of Black history and culture.”

“The message is ‘connect with your history and if you don’t know it, it’s your responsibility to dig deep and find it,’” Ms. Mahdi told The Final Call.

CHICAGO—Girls Like Me Project Inc. (GLIMPI) is proud to host their 13th Annual Chicago Day of the Girl, on October 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the South Shore Cultural Center on the city’s South Side. This year’s focus will be on mental health and empowerment.

The Day of the Girl is dedicated to affirming the incredible strength and potential of Black girls ages 13-18.

GLIMPI Executive Director, Lakeisha Gray-Sewell, is proud to say that the Girls Like Me Project has expanded from 80 girls in 2012 to 250 this year. She told The Final Call,

“I am hoping that girls walk away with their intrinsic power and control of their destiny and future and I hope that the adults of this society all walk away with a reinvigorated commitment to the wholeness of Black girls.”

Ms. Gray-Sewell was particularly excited to have the event at the cultural center because of its history and beautiful scenery. “It was an exclusive place and behind the walls is a beautiful lakefront, it’s a place that makes you feel free and [want] to dream,” she said.

The event also offers invaluable resources and experiences in the following categories: cultural exploration, resource access and community connection. The program intends to serve as a resourceful career-driven program in the Chicagoland area by creating a safe space for Black girls who aspire to pursue careers in the media industry.

Part of this year’s program will include fun and educational activities for the girls such as art therapy and workshops. “Our girls will be talking to other girls from other communities and really foster our global sisterhood,” Ms. Gray-Sewell continued.

In 2012, the United Nations declared October 11 the International Day of the Girl. In observance, GLMPI produced Chicago Day of the Girl to connect Chicago’s Black girls to a global community and advocate for their success beyond the myriad of injustices.

Ms. Gray-Sewell also rallied for 11 years to have the city of Chicago recognize October 11 as an official Chicago Day of the Girl holiday. On September 21, 2022, the resolution was passed by the city council, officially making October 11 Chicago Day of the Girl.

And Sister Chantal Muhammad, Sister Sajdah Wendy Muhammad, Sister Sonya Muhammad and Sister Nataki Muhammad, for Business Women of the Year Award.

Sister Madinah Muhammad is the daughter of Sister Lisa R. Muhammad. She was very proud to see her mother receive an award. “It is such a blessing to see my mother being honored for such an award. I grew up right beside her serving the community and helping build relationships for us in the Nation (of Islam) with people of all walks of life,” she told The Final Call.

The wonderful evening was hosted by Student Minister Jamil Muhammad of Baltimore, who charmed attendees with humor and his appreciation for Sister Carmen Muhammad’s hard work.

Sister Khadijah Y. Muhammad performed a beautiful solo that evening and expressed her appreciation for Sister Carmen’s representation of modest fashion. “If you think about modest fashion, there are different ways to represent that so you can see different examples of modest fashion with everybody here so that sets the tone.”

The fashion show on Aug. 31 did not disappoint. Hosted at the Drake Hotel in downtown Chicago, it featured designs from Sister Carmen, Evetta Petty of Harlems Heaven; Queen Aminah; Sister Nisa Islam Muhammad of Orchard Allure Collection; Asiyah Collections; Hakeem and Aliyah Collection, and a host of others.

Models as young as three years of age walked the runway. Young Sister Imani Siddiqah Muhammad, age 5, was very excited to participate in the show. “It was really great!” she told The Final Call. “I like how the dresses look; they look pretty!”

Student Minister Jamil and Brother Hannibal Muhammad of Phoenix shared emcee duties.

The show featured designs for infants, children, teenagers and adults for casual and formal wear.

Sister Naeema Muhammad was one of the models. She told The Final Call, “The show was well put together, the designs were up to date and beautiful. I was really proud of the work I saw, the craftsmanship from Sister Queen Aminah to Akilah’s Closet,” she said. “I’m happy for the opportunity to show off Muslim collections throughout the world and our community.”

Designer, Sister Jalilah Muhammad said, “I think Sister Carmen is amazing in what she’s doing for the M.G.T. (Muslim Girls Training and General Civilization Class) and sisters and getting us out there and showcasing our wears and our modest wears. I’m proud to be a part [of it]; I’m grateful for her including us.”

Her mother, Queen Aminah, inspired her interest in fashion design. She thanked her mother and the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan for giving her the foundation needed to represent modest fashion for the past two years.

At the end of the evening, Sister Carmen Muhammad thanked the attendees and her supporters for helping her put together what she says is a part of her mission of “integrating Muslim women and fashion” and showing that modesty can be beautiful.

CHICAGO—This year, Women Working Together Inc. is presenting its 3rd annual International Modest Fashion Weekend with the theme “Fashion for Peace” on August 31 at the Drake Hotel. Sister Carmen Kamilah Abdullah Muhammad is the owner of Al-Nisa Designs and founder of Women Working Together Inc.

Her aim and purpose is to help ensure that beautiful, fashionable and modest clothing and Muslim designers are recognized and appreciated. She also wants to shine a light on the role of women in civilization and society. This year’s fashion show theme is, “Fashion for Peace.”

“I wanted to go back to the original concept that I had and that is celebrating women,” Sister Carmen told The Final Call. “What’s making it unique is how we are integrating Muslim women and fashion.” Her vision since 2005 has been to empower women through fashion and show that modesty can be beautiful.

In addition to a fashion show featuring a variety of designers, Sister Carmen will also be honoring and recognizing talented women of the Nation of Islam with awards at the event. Honorees include Sister Betsy Jean Farrakhan, daughter of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and Mother Khadijah Farrakhan;

Sister Kabasa Muhammad, daughter of Sister Carmen; Sister Sajdah Wendy Muhammad, a businesswoman and entrepreneur; Sister Sonya Muhammad, a longtime companion and helper of Sister Carmen; Sister Aminah Muhammad, a fashion designer and businesswoman; and Sister Margaret Mahdi, a playwright, producer and director.

The weekend will kickstart with an evening of fine dining, entertainment and awards gala at the Salaam Restaurant on the city’s South Side on August 30.

Sister Sonya Muhammad of Monroe, Louisiana, one of the awardees, shared her excitement about the upcoming fashion weekend. “We’re striving to do something that He (Master Fard Muhammad) asked us to do and that’s cover the women,” she told The Final Call.

“When you think about what Jesus said, he said, ‘let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus,’ and he had women who were following him who were covered … it brings a virtue to the woman. We’re showing and striving to show women that you can be covered and be beautiful.”

Sister Carmen spoke on the importance of Muslims supporting one another in the mission of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad under the leadership of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and the importance of the Nation of Islam being an example before the world.

“We are the Vanguards of modest fashion,” she explained. “When we show up and show out, we show the world who we are!” For more information and tickets, visit www.wwtmfw.com or email womenworkingtogetherinc@yahoo.com

The celebration commemorates the Hebrew-Israelites who migrated from the United States to Israel in the 1960s. The journey is known as the “New World Passover.”

Claudette Marie Muhammad, former Chief Protocol Director of the Nation of Islam, was also among the honorees. She said it was a “wonderful” celebration with much to be remembered.

“The event was fabulous. It reminded me of the times in Israel where we all came together,” Sister Claudette said. “I felt exceptionally honored. … Brother Ishmael talked about how we all have to come together and work together in order to survive.”

The former protocol director said she was humbled to receive an award, but she was most excited to hear that Minister Farrakhan received one as well. She said the NWP community has great respect for the Minister and his more than 60 years of service to the Black and poor community.

Arel Ben Israel, one of the sons of the late Prince Asiel Ben Israel said of Minister Farrakhan, “He’s been a friend of his for say, 50 years to Prince (Asiel) and to the community.”

Arel Israel said it was his pleasure to be a part of the celebration and for the awardees to be appreciated.
