DETROIT—The Nation of Islam’s 2024 Saviours’ Day weekend was a huge success as thousands of Muslims and supporters convened in the city of its founding. People traveled from near and far to participate in plenary sessions, informative workshops, Mother Khadijah Farrakhan’s Children’s Village, vending that featured Black and Muslim-owned businesses, an awards banquet, orchestra performance, drill competition and much more.

The weekend concluded with a powerful message delivered by the Honorable
Minister Louis Farrakhan at the Huntington Place in downtown Detroit, titled, “What Does Allah The Great Mahdi And The Great Messiah Have To Say About The War In The Middle East?” To view the plenary sessions and the Minister’s message in its entirety, visit media.noi.org.

DETROIT—On Saturday, February 24, attendees filled-to-capacity meeting room 330B at Huntington Place for the workshop: “How to Eat to Live: Recovering from Chronic Illness, Cancer, & COVID-19,” during the Nation of Islam’s Saviours’ Day convention.

Included on the panel of health professionals who shared practical applications of “How To Eat To Live” From God In Person Master Fard Muhammad by the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, were Sister Dr. Safiyya Shabazz (owner and director of Fountain Medical Associates), Sister Dr. Danita Muhammad (Osteopathic M.D.),

Brother Dr. Akili Graham Muhammad (general family physician who practices in Houston, Texas) and Sister Anissa Muhammad (Los Angeles-based public health expert) and Sis. Dr. Christina X Parks (Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology). Sister Vickie Muhammad, Sis. Najmah Muhammad and Sis. Naomi Muhammad shared extraordinary healing testimonies.

“The truth is, the War of Armageddon has begun and what we would like to do today is first, sort of the gift that Allah has given me, is to really look deeply into the mechanism by which these weapons that have been brought against us are destroying our health,” Sis. Dr. Christina X stated.

She simplified the powerful science of the mechanisms of injury and how what the Honorable Elijah Muhammad gave to his followers is the antidote to the enemy’s weapons of mass destruction against them. The real epidemic within the community is that epidemics are related—autoimmunity, chronic illnesses, diabetes, cancer and obesity, she explained.

“We are not suffering, in many cases, from all these different illnesses. We are suffering from our bodies being out of balance, a lack of balance, and in many cases, extreme immune dysfunction,” Sis. Dr. Christina X added.

Statistically, she said:

•       One in six children has a neurological disorder;

•       Half of all children suffer from a chronic illness;

•       One in five people will suffer from an autoimmune disorder;

•       There have been dramatic increases in cancer in younger people (30-50 years of age);

• Childhood cancer rates have jumped 30 percent.

She gave a further explanation of inflammation and immune dysregulation, and how it leads to autoimmunity, huge rates of cancer, and inflammation, thus exacerbating everything from diabetes to Alzheimer’s.

Sis. Dr. Christina also explained the problems with live viral vaccines such as Measles, Mumps, Rubella [MMR], chicken pox and old polio vaccines and how as a result, people are inundated with both animal and human retroviruses that have been spread to the vaccines.

“Get in a car accident, it reactivates the virus that you didn’t know about. They don’t catch it. You don’t know what it is. You’ve got all kinds of chronic health problems and you don’t know what’s going on,” she said. Similar injuries are caused by the Childhood Vaccination Schedule, she added. Sis. Dr. Christina then gave explanations about the impact of chronic immune system activation and how drugs are not the solution.

“The spike protein is highly, highly inflammatory. It is a biological weapon, whether you get it from the disease or the vaccination,” she stated, speaking about the COVID-19 shot.

One could almost hear a pin drop during her presentation. “In addition, the vaccination itself is hyper, hyper-inflammatory and, and it shuts off your immune system.”

The weapons given to fight this onslaught are in “How To Eat To Live,” the books written by the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, Sis. Dr. Christina added.

One meal a day as prescribed in the books reduces inflammation, immune activation, leaky gut, toxic load and that burden on the immune system, and insulin, which drives metabolic disorder and diabetes, which causes inflammation.

An amazing weapon given by the Honorable Elijah Muhammad is the Three-Day National Fast, she continued. “It actually resets your immune system. … The other thing that it does is it breaks down cellular stuff that shouldn’t be there and that includes the spike protein.”

The Three-Day National Fast also silences viruses and activates cellular healing, the genes that rejuvenate the body. In terms of physical and emotional trauma coded within DNA, she added, “When you fast for three days, you actually reset your epigenetics. You actually are getting rid of transgenerational trauma. … When you fast for 72 hours, you activate the production of stem cells that make you grow younger.”

Sis. Anissa Muhammad discussed how growing food in nutrient-deficient soil leads to nutritional inadequacies or deficits. She advocated testing for nutritional deficits, especially in children. “If you catch it in early stages, you can give some sort of standard of care, be it herbs or more nutritional food, something that can help build their immune system back up to where it should be,” she said.

“The root of all disease is spiritual,” explained Sis. Dr. Darnita Muhammad, quoting the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.

She spoke on the spiritual aspect of health and healing, specifically for the more serious conditions, such as cancers, autoimmune illnesses and neurological conditions.

Such diagnoses are not easy, she acknowledged, but a first step toward healing is to look at it, not retreat into denial. She highlighted ways to begin detoxification and decrease stress and anxiety and she talked about understanding “science” in the realm of faith, the mind and spirituality for health and healing—as it occurs through prayer and study.

“You don’t have to be a superwoman or superman. … You have to know that Allah, God, however you know the Creator, is with you and your body wants to be whole. Allah wants us to heal,” Sis. Dr. Darnita shared. She added, “Do not give in to it. Allah is the ultimate decider. But, we have to fight and we can fight.”

“The basis of our health plan is two main things: ‘How To Eat To Live’ and the Restrictive Law,” said Sis. Dr. Shabazz, who went into health benefits from a sole source, according to the Teachings.

“The Honorable Elijah Muhammad told me that in the Sun, there are billions of vitamins that you can’t get in anything that is created except through the Sun,” said Dr. Shabazz, quoting an excerpt from the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan’s December 2020, “Message to the National Leadership Summit.” Sis. Dr. Shabazz went on to share what she’s been learning about the healing aspects of the sun and the benefits of light. For example, early light exposure helps to reset one’s internal clock or circadian rhythm.

“Just to sum it up, go outside! … and go to bed,” urged Sis. Dr. Shabazz.

As a cancer survivor, Sister Najma Muhammad urged unity and support. She was in the small three percent that was allergic to her treatment and subsequently had to navigate herself through healing. “In that process, I found out that so many of us don’t know how to advocate for ourselves,” she said. Her objective is to help develop a support group within the Nation of Islam for those with various illnesses, but her passion is cancer, she said.

“I didn’t know what to do, but I thank Allah for the words of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan. He called me up and he said, ‘Follow your doctor’s advice. Do what they say to do and Allah will bless you to be successful,’” she stated.

Sister Vickie Muhammad shared with workshop attendees that she has been eating one meal every three days for just over a year. After two stress-related heart attacks, which she thought was ‘just indigestion,’ she submitted to the Teachings, but one meal every other day, or every two days worked for her. She tackled one meal every three days and her doctor, three months later, found only scar tissue where the heart attacks were. In another three months, her doctors couldn’t even see where she’d had heart attacks, she said.

“I was doing it for health reasons but there were so many other things that I got from it. I got spiritual enhancement. … He’s given me spiritual abilities that I didn’t even know existed. I wish I had done this a long time ago, because I’m making a connection with the God,” she stated.

Sister Naomi Muhammad of Phoenix has suffered multiple seizures due to immune malfunction. She’s had major surgeries and, like Sis. Vickie, she contacted Bro. Dr. Akili. She did a six-month detox on “How to Eat to Live,” she said.

“I am now not suffering from any seizures at all. … Every week I would fast one day, I built myself up to two, and right at the beginning of February, I finally was able to do the three-day fast,” Sister Naomi shared.

Bro. Dr. Akili stated plainly to those in attendance to get into “How To Eat To Live,” and practice it.

He recited from Book 1, page 34: “I offer you His teachings and it is up to you to accept or reject them. But, I repeat, His is the best way as He says in the Holy Qu-ran, ‘I Allah am the Best Knower’ (Chapter 2, verse 1). Since He represents Himself as the Best Knower, then it is nothing but intelligence on our part to follow and obey that Best Knower Who gives the best advice and Whose guidance is best for our future regardless of what we desire. He is the Best Knower of what guidance we should have.”

But no longer can others dismiss the influence of the Nation of Islam’s foundational beliefs of God coming as a Man and the reality of the Mother Wheel presented in the documentary, “Answered: Part 2: The Coming of God” Saviours’ Day weekend.

In the documentary, film producer and member of the Nation of Islam Research Group, Student Minister Illia Rashad Muhammad interviewed a plethora of guests, scholars and believers to give testimonies, evidence and facts concerning two of the most dominant declarations by the Nation of Islam.

Some featured speakers interviewed included National Assistant to the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, Student Minister Ishmael Muhammad; Student Minister Dr. Ava Muhammad (May Allah be pleased); Dr. William Lane Craig, research professor of philosophy at Talbot School of Theology in Houston and many others.

“It’s Saviours’ Day and we’re dealing with the coming of God, highlighting His work here in Detroit, where it all started. That, in my judgment, really is the most important of all knowledge of who God is, and that God has been identified as Master Fard Muhammad. So, it is imperative upon us as believers in the Nation of Islam to be further inculcated, further grounded in what we already know and believe.

And be strengthened in that, as well as those who may not believe. I think those who may not believe, and even are critical, once they just see some basic facts that are presented, now that starts to change things,” Student Min. Ilia said.

The standing-room-only crowd filled the convention room excited to view what is described by some as one of the most important films of this time. Bro. Ilia’s first documentary, “Answered: The Prelude,” debuted earlier this year in Phoenix and also attracted a large crowd and buzz as the film premieres continue throughout cities.

“I think it was absolutely amazing!” said Sis. Rhianna X from Dallas. “I saw the first documentary ‘Answered: Part 1’ and it has made me feel closer to Master Fard Muhammad, understanding who He is as a Man and as our Guide.

It showed the power that we have as members of the Nation, and Black people in America; which we were unaware of before but are coming to the awareness of,” she said.

“The Mother Wheel is the greatest sign of His presence and the proof that God is real,” said the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan from a clip of a previous lecture shown in the documentary. The United States Pentagon has reported more than 400 sightings by pilots and science that cannot be explained.

According to the Teachings of Master Fard Muhammad, founder of the Nation of Islam, the reality of God must be explained as well. This reaffirms proof of the N.O.I.’s position of God as a man and the Mother Plane, the documentary shared.

“When He comes, He defies the people’s expectations,” said Minister Farrakhan. The Minister shared how Allah (God) found the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, a man preconditioned with a certain heart and with that heart he heard God.

To conclude the evening, a panel, including Student Min. Illia and some of the film presenters, provided a question-and-answer session. Student Minister and Shura Executive Council member Dr. Wesley Muhammad shared, “No other theologies teach the way we teach the theology that God is a man.

People made slaves and robbed from their names, language and religion have been programmed into thinking God could never be in human form so that for many years and even today, people reject this idea,” he said.

“Wherever I go now people share similar stories because now they feel comfortable to speak about it now. It may be difficult to admit that the Nation of Islam was telling the truth all along,” he added. But he challenged scholars of this world to contest this truth introduced by the Teachings of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad.

Other panelists included Southwest Regional Student Minister Abdul Haleem Muhammad; digital creator and hip-hop artist Sister Akilah Nehanda of Mosque No. 45 in Houston, and activist and attorney Sister Sadiyah Karriem also of Mosque No. 45 in Houston.

DETROIT—The Nation of Islam’s Youth Committee hosted its first in-person Saviours’ Day workshop, “Guarding Our Righteousness.” This workshop placed Muslim youth in the forefront of establishing a culture and standard of righteousness. Instead of a traditional panel discussion, this Feb. 24 workshop guided attendees to form study discussion circles on various topics dealing with righteousness.

“The circles that I was in [and] who I was discussing, the questions at hand, it was really informative just seeing other people’s perspective on how to follow the Restrictive Law and different perspectives of how to go about it,” said Brother Asaad Muhammad of Mosque No. 15 in Atlanta. He said one of the questions posed was, “How can we as youth find our place in the kingdom of God?”

“And one of the brothers said that we have to really love the Teachings, we have to love the law. Because we can’t cheat our way out of Allah’s (God’s) law. We have to follow it. And if we love the law, that just makes it way easier to follow it,” Bro. Asaad added.

Steering committee members included Sis. Joi X of Miami; Sis. Aalia Muhammad of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Sis. Naajia Muhammad of Brooklyn; Sis. Elisha and Sis. Ilyasah Muhammad of Memphis; Bro. Sultan Sadeeq Muhammad of Chicago and Bro. Kaleem Muhammad of Washington, D.C.

Sis. Joi X, 19, explained that one of the things mentioned is that there are young Muslims that do not have a lot of other youth in their mosques or study groups. “So, we wanted to make a study group style for specifically youth, of course others were invited, but it was for specifically youth so that they can talk amongst each other and get their own perspectives and just really unite,” Sis. Joi X, 19, explained.

“That was the main purpose for our workshop. And I think it turned out beyond our expectations, because we had a lot of people, and insha’Allah (God willing) we can put on another workshop like this in the future,” she added.

Group discussion facilitators included Bro. Zuri Muhammad of Memphis; Bro. Nasir Muhammad, Bro. Hassan Muhammad and Bro. Khadir Muhammad of Waxahachie, Texas; Bro. Zahir Muhammad of California; Sis. Ilyasah Muhammad of Houston; Sis. Saaliah Muhammad and Sis. Nassirah Muhammad of Brooklyn, and Sis. Siyyan Muhammad of Atlanta.

The entire workshop was youth-driven, youth-led and youth-facilitated. The words of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan served as the basis of the study circle discussions. Each group discussed topics such as “What is your own self?” “What does Allah require from us so that we can accept our own and be ourselves?” and “As youth, how do we find our place in the Kingdom of Allah (God)?”

Toward the closing of the workshop, Bro. Sultan-Sadeeq Muhammad, 21, of Mosque Maryam, emphasized the importance of study and respecting the structure of attending study group.

“We are to be consistent in our study no matter what we have going on,” Bro. Sultan stated.

DETROIT—An electrifying performance of the newly formed Nation of Islam Symphonic Orchestral Ensemble left those in attendance in awe after they performed for the first time at the Saviours’ Day convention Awards Banquet in Detroit, Michigan, on February 23.

A full-capacity Grand Ballroom patiently waited over four hours to hear the orchestra. The ensemble consists of 48 musicians ranging from ages five to mid-60s including instrumentalists and chorus members.

The inspiration behind their coming together happened in November of 2023 when the Ministry of Arts and Culture presented a recital at Mosque Maryam in Chicago, Illinois. When Student National Secretary of the Nation of Islam Sa’ad Alim Muhammad attended the event, he was inspired by their performance.

He told them that it was time to have the Nation of Islam’s first orchestra. Members of the group took his words to heart and began to organize musically talented members of the Nation of Islam for the orchestra. “We got to work and put a call out for musicians and vocalists from around the Nation to send in their material.

We received audition tapes from all over the Nation,” said Amirah Hashimah Muhammad, 22, concert violinist and concert master for the ensemble. “Our process for preparing was that every musician sent in practice check videos so we could hear each individual player and vocalist and how they were preparing.”

The musicians from across the nation rehearsed weekly and taped their practices, then sent copies to all the players who were participating. The players had their first in-person rehearsal together one night before their live performance in Detroit.

“This represents a historic point in our Nation and it happened at a particular time,” music director Farrad Muhammad said. “Because Beethoven is loved by Minister Farrakhan, we were able to perform a Beethoven piece, the 9th symphony on the 200th year of its debut. It was historic as well because we had musicians from all over the country.

We have an orchestral membership now. Students, musicians can upload videos and much of the music is specially arranged for the Nation of Islam’s Symphony Orchestra for its instrumental makeup as well as the chorus.

This is a beautiful thing that we have and we plan on doing a performance in the spring, Insha’Allah (God-Willing), and when we come together we intend on doing a performance for our Nation.”

Mother Khadijah Farrakhan, the first lady of the Nation of Islam sat in the front row to enjoy the musical expression of the Nation’s Orchestra. Throughout the performance Mother Khadijah smiled with so much joy.

Henri Star is a classical violinist and father of four members in the Orchestral Ensemble. The proud father shared his heart felt gratitude to watch his children perform and continue the legacy of musical expression given by the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.

His daughter Amirah Hashimah Muhammad, his son H. Akbarkhan Muhammad, 17, a concert violinist and composer, A’ishah Maryam Muhammad, 15, and Aaliyah Isabel Muhammad, 13, performed.

“To witness my four children performing in this Saviours’ Day 2024 Symphonic Orchestral Ensemble, for me is a feeling of fulfillment of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan’s mission when he performed the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in 1993,” Brother Henri said. “And now my children are here to continue in his mission and further what he gave to the world in music. I am very grateful.”

Khadijah Y. Muhammad, 27, sang a special dedication song in honor of Minister Farrakhan’s mother, Sumayyah Farrakhan. Sis. Khadijah’s voice was beautiful and lovely. She received a standing ovation and thunderous long applause afterward.

Sis. Khadijah said she’s been singing ever since she was a baby, but formally started singing at age nine when joined a school choir in the 5th grade.

“There aren’t adequate words, it is humbling and has made me more grateful to Allah to have been blessed with a talent that can bring something of good to those who will hear.

I love to sing and I am overjoyed to share what I love with people that I love,” she said. “Working with other Believers from around our Nation, striving, rehearsing, and building bonds with one another has been beautiful.

Also being back in a choir setting was nostalgic, remembering my school choir days. I pray this programming continues so that we may share our gifts with one another and the world! It is truly wonderful.”

DETROIT—“Mommy, it’s the Children’s Village!” shouted eight-year-old Hakim Muhammad from Chicago, as he ran into the ballooned arched section of the Huntington Place convention center. “Wait a minute,” his mom shouted. “I have to register you.”

That scene was repeated over and over as if a magical spell was summoning children to abandon their parents and race with abandon into the Mother Khadijah Farrakhan’s Children’s Village during Saviours’ Day 2024.

This special section of the weekend’s events held Feb. 23 and 24 was the loving contribution of Mother Khadijah Farrakhan to the many families who traveled to Detroit. For more than 20 years she has provided a sanctuary for children. It was a child’s delight filled with bouncy houses, balloons, games, and gifts.

“This is my first time here with my children,” Sister Summayyah Muhammad from Atlanta, told The Final Call. “What I like about the Children’s Village is there’s a variety of everything for all different ages. It’s just a big space for them to roam free and enjoy themselves. I also like that there’s a lot of believers here with their children. We’re all here and we are a village.”

The Children’s Village is where parents can meet other parents, their children can meet new friends and play together. It’s also where strollers are welcome and can be found parked on the sides of the room so even babies can have fun. A new addition to the stroller brigade is wagons. They are the new carrier for multiple children. Wagons found their place too in the Children’s Village.

Activities for children included creating your own bear where children could stuff a bear and leave with a birth certificate. “I’m naming my bear Anwar because I have a best friend named Anwar and this bear will be my new best friend,” seven-year-old Humzah Muhammad from Detroit told The Final Call. There were also group games that excited even the most easily bored middle schooler.

The Children’s Village offered a tech free experience for parents looking to wedge their children away from phones and tablets. They could run to their hearts content, many until they just pooped out.

In addition to the bright lights, colorful objects and lots of space for children to run around, another factor parents loved was the security the space offered. “There’s one way in and even though there’s a door in the back, it’s guarded.

I feel safe and I feel like my children are safe too even though I do have a tracker on my children. I’m not worried about them being here and I can’t see them,” Brother David Muhammad from New York told The Final Call.

If you were looking for a quiet place to rest, the Children’s Village was not that place. It was full of children’s laughter, squeals of joy, the occasional tearful outbursts and music to lift your spirits. The Children’s Village for many was a refuge where a child could be a child. No worries about having children keep quiet in a workshop so people could hear the speaker or having them sit still so they don’t disturb anyone around them. It was freedom for the children to run and enjoy Saviours’ Day.

Mother Khadijah Farrakhan, her daughter Sister Maria Farrakhan and the Children’s Village staff worked diligently throughout the weekend to ensure that everyone had an enjoyable time.

DETROIT—The Nation of Islam’s Secretary College held their Elevation Ceremony on Feb. 22 as part of the kickoff activities of the Saviours’ Day Convention at the Huntington Place convention center.

Students of the 2024 class filed into the room to the traditional graduation song, “Pomp and Circumstance, March No. 1 in D,” adorned with cords and gold sashes as friends, family members and fellow Muslim colleagues cheered them on.

Administrative Team Member Sis. Naja Muhammad of Detroit, Michigan, explained the Elevation Ceremony was to recognize the students moving from one stage of development to another stage on the path to graduation, over the last eight months. Seventy-eight students were awarded certificates of progress.

The N.O.I. Secretary College was initiated by Student National Secretary Sa’ad Alim Muhammad for the purpose of standardizing the training of student secretaries and staff throughout the Nation of Islam.

“This ceremony represents just one step more beyond where you currently are to learn a little more. So, the word “elevate” is defined as to move or raise to a higher place or position. So, whatever we know right now, there is a higher place or position awaiting us,” he said in his brief keynote remarks.

Student National Secretary Sa’ad Alim Muhammad went on to give an analogy of the work of a people within a Nation to the human body.

“No organ is more important than any other part. Every last one of us has a role to play, that when we perform our function to the best ability, the body lives; the body thrives,” he said.

Sis. Tiffany X of Birmingham, Alabama, felt that she did experience an elevation of her learning and her growth in the Nation. “This is my third year in the Nation and to advance this far, even in my studies, it means a lot to me.
