In The Name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful.

“We all saw The Nation dismantled and reassembled, but tell me: Who did you see sinking beneath the waves, descending into the cold crushing abyss when the depths of The Minister’s Source had him anchored a thousand leagues beneath the sea?

It was she! She broke the chains! She freed the man! She resuscitated his inspiration, and FARRAKHAN lived again! She is the quintessential manifestation that no nation can rise any higher than its woman! …

“… So no, we will not wait for the Vatican or for the popes in Rome to pontificate and debate over whether to bestow sainthood upon our Queen Mother! She has gone through more trials and tribulations and has brought forth just as many miracles as any other.

So all those who are present and in agreement, raise your hand to the sky and say ‘I,’ thus, by the power of the people, in the presence of God’s Vicegerent and the rest, in acknowledgement of all the years that you have sat perfectly upon the throne,

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan: ALLAH-U-AKBAR! ALLAH-U-AKBAR! Thank you, brother. Boy, you could not have said it better. I know those are words inspired by God and touched my heart, because I know the truth of my wife’s greatness; greater than you would hear it said. But she will rise from among the dead to be crowned before God and the world, this beautiful Ruggles Street girl!

Well, I call her “Struggles Street,” because she struggled every day to be the best that she could be. So how could I not rejoice over the beauty of your soul that captured my wife and let her life unfold? You did it, dear brother.

And I am grateful for you, because you made my day that was very sad indeed! But I know there is a great future for all of us because she paved the road before we leave. Thank you so much. …

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan: Did you know that she is my hero? All the things I needed that she could be, God did it all to help me that I might be the one to resurrect a nation and then go on to a world and set people free.

Oh yeah, she is my hero alright. I mean, she really broke through. Every day on the news they were talking about her! They sent me all these words from around the world—I couldn’t even read it all; I had to stop.

She opened the door for us. She took a cover off of me! So, through her, the world will look at me a different way. But no woman could stay with a no-good man for now 73 years, and 10 years more before that! No woman got that kind of strength. But every rotten thing that the enemy would write about me hit my family, hit my friends!

It was like I had a disease; nobody wanted to be a close friend to me. Yeah …  They would come behind the door and say, “Farrakhan, we love you” a lot more. But Khadijah: She never let the news confuse her as to who her man is. Never! There was not one time in 73 years that she wavered about me.

I mean, just, just think about that. You all are married, but damn! I mean …  No, no, no! This is real talk! You all are married, but how long does it last? Damn, before the party is over the wedding is too! Talking about “honeymoon”?

All the honey dripped off that moon, and we as dry as the moon, (smile)— no water nowhere, no love nowhere! We’re playing games in the Name of God. … So beloved, go home and really try to make something out of your marriage by making something out of yourself.

You can’t be what you won’t live to be. So “faking”: You know, there is an old saying, “You’ve got to fake it (until/before) you make it.” And most of us are fakers.

Marriage is sacred. Living to be together and struggling with each other so that you could become one, that’s not funny, that’s not a joke. That’s the reality of life itself!

‘Khadijah still is The Wind Beneath My Wings’

If you’re afraid to be with God, you will never realize your own greatness, because when you are afraid, you can’t bring out of yourself what is buried there, hiding under fear, hiding under wanting to be loved but won’t do what will make you worthy to be loved.

This man sitting beside me, Brother Stevie Wonder: He’s like an archangel—you know I’ve got to talk about the angel! You think he can’t see? You wish you had eyes like he has! I want to say a few words about my Brother Stevie. Steve is like a conductor in the angelic choir of God.

Did you know that the Attribute of Allah, “Mercy,” “Beneficence”: He wants you to be comforted. Half of us probably in the room, forgive me if I step on your corn, but you really need to be reborn, because “faking it until you make it” is not God’s way. See, you’ve got to come out from behind the acting school of Satan, [where] Satan is the master.

And he is the one that gives you an Oscar. (“That’s my Oscar nigga.”) You didn’t hear me! Because you put on a face when you come out the door (“Who shall I be today? I’ve got to be what will make me accepted.”) If you will be yourself, you will not be “accepted,” you will be divinely protected.

So, beloved, you’ve got me fired up! And that’s because Khadijah still is the wind beneath my wings. So, when you go home and look at your wife, what do you see? No, no—no, please don’t answer! (Smile) You don’t know what you’re going to see, or you don’t know how to say what you see.

But you all have it deep within yourself: God is sitting there, waiting for you to discover Him. You running around making everybody your “hero,” but The Hero is sitting right up inside of you—or laying down next to you.

Stop faking it. Khadijah wouldn’t have been with me for 72 minutes if I was a false dude. And these are my children here, and they have grown up under me and their mother. … But they never heard me argue with their mother. They never heard me call my wife out of her name in anger.

Did you hear me?! How many of you speak evil words to your wife?I am very serious now! Brothers and sisters, we are hurting inside, all of us as Black people. In fact, all the human family is like that. So, we fight each other rather than trying to really discover what’s hiding beneath the cover, a very beautiful, righteous lover.

So, when you go home, as we celebrate Khadijah, let’s make a vow to turn over a new leaf, to be a better person. Joy has never been in sex. Righteousness is the joy of life itself, and if you are not trying to be right, you are never going to have peace or joy in your life.

That woman, right there, Khadijah: She lived her vow. And after 72 years, when she took her last breath, I wanted to scream out over her death. But as I was about to break down, God held me, and I could feel His arms around me; and therefore, I couldn’t break. And as Ishmael said, I cried out, “The Lord is my strength and He is my salvation. Of whom, then, shall I be afraid?”

And when you live in fear, you don’t know The Lord. When you are cowardly and won’t present yourself as God would have you to be, you are hiding the reality of the greatness of yourself. Come out of the closet.

Just don’t say that to those who are homosexual or lesbian. No, no, don’t do that. Come out from the closet of being other than yourself; and putting on a mask to hide the reality not of who you are, but of the fake that you’re trying to be today.

That wife of mine, O Allah! Look at that picture. Sister Monica Morgan, she loved that picture! And I am with her, Monica. I love that picture. And I love you for taking that picture.

So, I am going home to a lonely bed, and nobody is worthy to be in her stead. I’ll be alone until God says, “Come home.” Because she will never leave my side; she is the most beautiful kind of bride.

Dear Mother Khadijah Farrakhan, Mother of The Faithful: We’ll Be Loving You Always!!

So, I close with this point. You read about Jesus; they say Jesus was hated without a cause. People did not want to associate with Jesus when he was among us, and all the miracles that he had performed didn’t change their mind about him because they said his miracles were made by Beelzebub.

(That’s another name for the devil.) So even though he was doing things that others never could do, they refused to see who he really was. So, you could not talk about Jesus openly.

And people do not talk about me openly, honestly. You knowI’ve been a good man! Somebody on television said, “Seventy-two years and not one scandal.” It is not that me and Khadijah are perfect, no. But no scandal was behind our name.

Brothers and sisters, I will miss her, big time. And I am so grateful that all of you came to celebrate her.But underneath, you had to understand when you saw me, and the enemy writing about me day after day, week after week, month after month, and year after year … What did I do?

I didn’tkillnobody! I didn’t rob nobody! Didn’t rape no woman or sleep with no man! What did I do? I told the truth and spoke the truth, and the enemy didn’t like the truth.

I’ve got to tell you about my friend Stevie! Stevie and I were in Nigeria together. … Stevie corralled me one day and said, “Farrakhan, you should leave the singing to me.” It’s the truth! And Stevie said, “Why don’t you go back and get what Elijah Muhammad was teaching you?”

He said, “Now, you can help me, because you may be able to write lyrics and stuff, but let me do the singing.” Because I was so bad at it after I had been so good at it; but I was trying to get back at it when The Nation fell, and I couldn’t find my voice; I looked everywhere. I tried to play my violin; it looked like the strings would pop. (Smile) It wasn’t for me. And Stevie put me back on the right track!

And I can tell you this: This man came from God. Nobody talks about love better than this man, because love is the key to The Life of God. And in our pain and hurt living under White supremacy, God sent people into the world to comfort us, to preach to us, to sing for us. Mahalia Jackson, “Come Sunday” written by Duke Ellington; Billie Holiday, “Strange Fruit.”

And we marvel at their voices, and we love to hear our people sing. … Stevie caused us to live another day. And one day he called me on the phone and instead of saying, “Hey, Farrakhan!” he said, [singing] “I just called to say I love you!”

[Audience sings along: “I just called to say how much I care.”] Now, see? Wouldn’t you like to get a call like that from Stevie? How do you think I felt with my brother saying words like that to me?

I still got the call, Stevie. I will never throw it away, because Stevie invited me to be with him when he recorded “Songs in The Key of Life”—one of the greatest albums ever done by any musician. And I know this man will be tops in The Hereafter.

Each one of these musicians and artists are God’s gift to help us get through the horrors of living under White supremacy. And every time that Stevie sings about love, I would say “Stevie, you know, your songs and you are not for this world.” And Stevie doesn’t belong to this world. Stevie is in this world, but he is trying to get everybody in this world to be worthy of a better world.

So, “We just called to say I love you. We just called [audience joins in] to say how much we care. We just called to say I LOVE YOU, AND WE MEAN IT from the bottom of our hearts.” And so, Stevie, you can’t die.

I mean the flesh will go, but not Stevie. So, I thank God that he came. He’s a man [born also] in the month of May, on the 13th. I’m on the 11th; Mother Tynnetta is on the 10th. And here we are, together, to celebrate my beautiful wife.

 FC: Recent news reports have revealed a relationship among drug manufacturers, agricultural firms and the Food and Drug Administration. This has allowed substandard, chemically-riddled food to be approved that will undoubtedly lead to illness, more illness, for which the pharmaceutical companies produce so-called medicine to alleviate.

What are your views on this, and how can an unsuspecting public protect themselves from the danger to their health created by this link? How does the struggle for survival of Black farmers against discriminatory practices and regulations fit into this picture and perhaps a solution?

HMLF: I have read recently of this unholy alliance between pharmaceutical companies, agricultural conglomerates, chemical firms that produce pesticides and the Food and Drug Administration. There is no doubt in my mind that we live in The Valley of the Shadow of Death.

The Bible teaches that we are destroyed for the lack of knowledge. The unsuspecting American people have put their trust in those who feed and medicate us. Those who feed and medicate us are more interested in the bottom line of profit than they are in delivering health and well-being to the American people.

The Honorable Elijah Muhammad said to me that the medical profession is really not a profession of true healing; it is a profession of drugs. He said these drugs are created to stimulate a natural process.

However, stimulation of the natural process by the use of these drugs creates another problem—harmful side effects. This gives the pharmaceutical companies more leeway to make more drugs, to make more money, to cause more death.

How can this unsuspecting public protect itself? In reality, it cannot, unless the public is made aware and the public’s will is to take control of the earth and what goes in it that produces our food.

Unless we are watchful of the chemicals that are sold to the agricultural conglomerates and unless we are watchful of the pharmaceutical companies and their desire to make money from the illnesses that are created by this unholy alliance, then we are locked in The Valley of the Shadow of Death.

This is why the Honorable Elijah Muhammad wanted us to buy or lease millions of acres of land, so that we could be responsible for providing the food, which we need to maintain our lives. How our food is prepared and how we live our lives are important to help us to survive.

The poor Black farmer is in deep trouble and the small White farmer, as well. The farmers are in debt incurred for equipment, pesticides, seeds, water and the many things that they need to make their farms successful.

Many farms are in foreclosure. As the banks take over these farms, the conglomerates buy these farms and expand their unhealthy way of food production for the American people and for the people of the world. All of this is to the detriment of the masses of the people.

The greed of these companies is monumental and only our unity under the Guidance of Allah (God) will allow us to come up out of The Valley of the Shadow of Death and come to life. That is why the scripture teaches “to those who overcame, He gave them of the Tree of Life.” 

That overcoming is what we have to be involved in and it starts with a knowledge of Allah (God); a knowledge of self; a knowledge of the time and what must be done; a knowledge of the enemy of God and the true religion of Allah (God). This kind of knowledge will lift us up out of this horrible Valley of the Shadow of Death.

In my Saviours’ Day speech, I will go deeper into this aspect of what I’m now writing in a capsule form, be it the Will of Allah (God).

In The Name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful, The One God to Whom all praise is due, Who came in the Person of Master Fard Muhammad to Whom praise is due forever.  We thank Allah for blessing us, for our beloved leader, teacher and guide, The Messenger of Allah, the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad. 

‘What The Muslims Believe’: A Reminder on Our Position toward the abject, despised

I wanted to start class by reciting something from the 80th Chapter of the Holy Qur’an, called ’Abasa, which means “He Frowned.”  It talks about Prophet Muhammad, the son of Abdullah, in Arabia, talking to a very prominent rich man, and a blind man came tapping up to Prophet Muhammad.  Prophet Muhammad was bothered by this blind man—because he was into this conversation with this rich man—and he looked at the blind man, and he frowned, and turned away.  When Prophet Muhammad frowned at the blind man, and turned away from the blind man, Allah (God) frowned on The Prophet, and the following verses were revealed:

“In The Name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful.  He frowned and turned away, because the blind man came to him.  And what would make thee know that he might purify himself, or be mindful, so the Reminder should profit him?  As for him who considers himself free from need, to him thou dost attend.  And no blame is on thee, if he purify himself not.  And as to him who comes to thee striving hard, and he fears—to him thou payest no regard.  Nay, surely it is a Reminder.  So let him, who will, mind it.”

Allah (God) is saying to Prophet Muhammad: “Why would you spend your time with those who really have no need of you, when a man came seeking you, who would be benefited by what you have to say, and you turned away from him, and you frowned?” 

The Bible has something similar in the 14th Chapter of the Book of Luke, in “The Parable of The Great Banquet” (verses 15-23).  Jesus was at a feast in the home of a prominent Pharisee when he began to teach his host, and those gathered, about “a certain man” who was preparing a great banquet, and invited many guests.  When the feast was ready, this man sent his servant out for the doctor, and the doctor was busy; he the servant out for the lawyer and the businessman, and they both were both busy.  So, he (Jesus) told his servant (his disciples): “Go out into the highways, into the byways, and bring me the lame, the halt, the blind, the leper; they will fill up my feast,” and they did.

What is the moral, or the lesson?  Dear brothers and sisters, The Nation of Islam started and was built by the most abject of our people.  Yes, the people that nobody else wanted could come to Muhammad—he never would turn them down.  The people that had no home, no place to go, no one to love them, no one to care about them; yes, the prostitute, the pimp, the lowlife, the dope seller, the dope user, the wine drinker, the man that was so far down in the mud, nothing was looking out but his eyeballs… 

But that is the man that knew he needed somebody, that is the woman that knew she needed somebody, so they reached out for Muhammad, as Muhammad reached out for them; and they came, and in a matter of moments they were cleaned up!  Then when you looked at them again, you saw them clean, shining, and strong, doing things that the learned had not the courage to do.

Well, as it was that way in the first building of The Nation of Islam, so it is in the second re-building of The Nation of Islam.  Who are the people that are going to be the foundational stones of this re-building?  Oh, the doctor may come, the lawyer may come, the teacher may come, and what a blessing it is that such brothers and sisters come at the ground-floor level.  However, the brother and sister who is willing to make the sacrifice, even of life, is the brother and sister who feel that they don’t have anything to lose. 

To the brothers of The F.O.I., and the sisters of The M.G.T., and to those of you who visit with us: If you know that we are having a general meeting, go get the brother in the mud, go get the sister in the mud!  I mean, if your friend happens to be a teacher or doctor, we don’t reject anyone. But the brother and sister in the mud, they are the ones that nine out of 10 times will stand up when there is nothing there to stand on but The Word. 

Others who are used to going in and out of fine buildings, they can’t join you unless you have a fine building (“Oh, I would come…  But there?  That place, among those people?  I can’t come, oh, no!  But when you move up on Broadway, I shall be there!”).  Well, we understand.  But we have some brothers and sisters who don’t care where truth is, they will go there. 

Study the Holy Qur’an to understand God’s Nature, which is Your Nature

So I thought we would start on that note, to let the brothers and sisters who feel that nobody cares, nobody loves you, nobody respects you, I want you to know how the Honorable Elijah Muhammad looks at you!  When asked, “Muhammad, where is your God?,” the Honorable Elijah Muhammad said: “Every time I look at a Black man, I am looking at God.” 

I don’t take those words lightly.  When I look at you, sister, when I look at you, brother, I know who I am looking at!  There is no sense in me praying to God and then mistreating you, because if I mistreat you I am already a mis-treater of God, for the very essence of The Nature of God is in you both!  And if you doubt it, then study the Holy Qur’an.  The Holy Qur’an is an Index of The Nature of God; it is telling you what The Nature of God is, and really, it is a key to The Nature of Your Self. 

If you doubt that you are like the Holy Qur’an describes you, brother and sister, then let anybody come to you pompous and proud, and immediately you start closing off and rejecting them.  This is because the Holy Qur’an says “none comes to Allah except he comes as a servant,” and none can come to you and win your love, and your respect, except he or she comes to you as a servant.  They can’t come to you boastful and arrogant, and proud. 

The Holy Qur’an teaches us that “Allah hates any self-conceited boaster.” And you know what?  You do, too.  You may not know why people turn you off, but if they boast, if they are self-conceited, if they are arrogantly proud, it turns you off.  But you love the humble, yes, you do!  And it is something about you, that whether you are right yourself, you respect righteousness.  You hate hypocrisy!  It is in you, that you hate anybody that preaches a good word and then lives totally contrary to what he preaches.  (You can’t go for that!  There’s nothing in you to make you go for that.) 

You are, actually, the reflection of Allah.  And when you submit, and we submit our will to do the Will of God, and when leadership represents Allah properly, they get the goodwill of the people.  And the goodwill of the people is the very essence of the people, and that’s what Elijah Muhammad attracted from his followers.

Never has there been a Black man in the history of America who was able to get another Black man or woman to give him all that we had.  The Honorable Elijah Muhammad got it all. That’s the truth, brother!  He didn’t play no games, but we believed in him as The Messenger of Allah, and we submitted to him, and whatever he wanted for us, we gave it to him. 

When White folks saw Black men and women submitting to Black leadership in that way, it totally threw them, because they understand that when Black men submit to Black men, the end of their power over us has come.  Anytime a Black man rises up with good in him for us, they always try to come in between us and that leader by saying ugly things about that leadership so that you will never give your all to one from among your own kind. 

The enemy knows how to short circuit your respect and commitment, so he will say, “Yeah, they’re stealing from you.”  That will short circuit your respect and your commitment just so.  Or, “They’re jiving you.”  When they start talking like this, you pull back; and the moment you pull back, and you close up your support, then the enemy says, “We’re on the road to overcoming them.”

Understanding that ‘force governed by intelligence’ is The Reality of God in Man

Study Message To The Black Man in America by the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, the chapter “Program and Position.”  On page 172, the Honorable Elijah Muhammad makes a declaration on Allah (God) in the Person of Master Fard Muhammad:  “Who can be saved, you will ask?  The Muslim believers who have submitted to the will of Allah and His religion, Islam, and those who faithfully followed and obeyed His Messenger. Let us try to do something for ourselves.  Give praises to Allah for converting the people to me and blessing us with peace and security. Allah is one God. He is independent and has no need of us, but we have great need of Him. It is He the Prophets predicted would come in the last days of the world seeking us, the Lost People, to save us and restore us to our own. I declare to you that He has come in the person of Master Wallace Fard Muhammad by (1) a summary of His work for the past 33 years and (2) by the Messenger, who believes in what has been revealed to him by his Lord, as do the believers. They believe in Allah and His Prophets and His books. We make no distinctions in His Messenger. We hear and we obey.”

“Who is Allah (God)?”  “How can Allah (God) come in the Person of a Man?”  (These are questions that have been asked regarding the Teachings of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad.)  There is an old saying that “truth is stranger than fiction.”  Some of our people would rather believe that a spirit created the heavens and the earth rather than to believe that man is capable of doing this that has been ascribed or given to a spirit or nonentity.  …  And if we have misunderstood “God” all these years, we can’t say we are going to understand God in a day; but, the key to understanding The Reality of The Divine Being is understanding the reality of your self.

The Honorable Elijah Muhammad, in telling us that Allah (God) is a Man, that puts him on the outside of the whole Islamic world because the whole Islamic world believes that God is a spirit.  Well, consider this: We have heard said that God is a “Supreme Force,” right?  But there is no force that we know of in the universe that doesn’t have behind it intelligence.  Electricity is a force, but it is not intelligent.  We just can’t say that “the universe was created by a force” and leave it like that; there is too much intelligence in the design and order of the universe to say that it was just “a force” that created it, because forces don’t have intelligence!  So it must be something that is “force,” alright, but a force that is governed and guided by “intelligence.”

Brothers and sisters, the prophets said they heard God speaking to them in their ear.  What “force” do you know of that speaks?  Name any force that you studied in physics or chemistry, any force in the universe that communicates words in a language in the ear of men.  Can you name one?  No, you can’t.  So if the prophets said they heard God’s Voice, what “force” has a voice speaking words in a language that the prophets understood?  God didn’t present Himself to all of the prophets, but He communicated with them through what they call “dreams,” “visions,” and they heard His Voice.  Only one prophet in the scriptures says he saw God “face-to-face,” and God spoke to him out of His Mouth, and that is Moses.

If we want to understand The Reality of God, the Honorable Elijah Muhammad said that we live in a material universe—and God would have no pleasure in creating a material universe if He, Himself, were nothing of “matter.”  Everything that He created, you see; and there are things that He created that you don’t see, but nothing that He created is outside of “matter.”  “Spirit” and “energy” are wrapped up in matter; even down to the most intense light, which is called a “wave,” that is also matter and energy.  Even with an x-ray, which is a lower form of light than laser; the x-ray passes through you, but the x-ray still is “matter.” 

Now if this is so, then Master Fard Muhammad, Who was born of a woman: How could He be God?  The Christians teach that Jesus was born of a woman.  Yes, they do!  And they say that Jesus lived like ordinary men, and then grew to become God; and all the powers in the heavens and earth were turned over to Jesus, so that Jesus became “The Christ” which means “True God,” “True Man.”  That’s Christian teaching!  But when you tell the Christian that God is a Man, they don’t want to hear it—but yet, Jesus was a man.  Before and after his resurrection, Jesus was man. 

Allah (God), The Best Knower: His Nature is Our Nature

The Honorable Elijah Muhammad teaches us that Master Fard Muhammad’s Father was “Allah” before Him.  What does “Allah” mean?  The Qur’an opens up saying:  “I, Allah, am The Best Knower.”  Well, The One Who is “The Best Knower” is Allah.  Remember, there is no “force” that you know that can say it is “The Best Knower.”  Though knowledge is the supreme force, knowledge must be contained in something!  “Spirits” don’t walk around talking and conveying knowledge, it is a mind that contains knowledge, and Man is The Supreme Life in The Universe, and he is formed right after God, Himself. 

This is why the Holy Qur’an says Islam is not your religion, it is your nature, it is “The Nature of God and The Nature in which God created man.”  Allah (God) gives you His same nature.  Well, if you have His same nature, then you and Him are the same!  So, you’re not a “child” of God, you are a God, a descendent of The Creator Himself! 

“The time has come”: All the prophets have been talking about how God “will come.”  There is no prophet that said “God is present,” they said “God will come.”  Moses kept saying, “And when He comes…”; Noah said, “And when He comes…”; Lot said, “And when He comes… .”  Even Jesus said, “And when He comes, the Spirit of Truth, He will guide you into all Truth.” Jesus wasn’t talking about himself, he was talking about somebody that he recognized as greater than himself. 

David, the great prophet of Israel, looking down in the wheel of time, saw the “master prophet.”  This is why when you call the Honorable Elijah Muhammad a “messenger,” that’s the cheapest title you could give him, because he is not just a “messenger,” he is the master of all prophets.  He masters what they taught!  They were in darkness, and they revealed words of light, but they themselves didn’t understand the depth of what God had given them.  But the one who comes in the last days doesn’t come as a “prophet,” he comes with God. 

It is written that God would come after the sheep that was lost.  Brothers and sisters, God would come after you!  He wouldn’t send a prophet, He would come Himself. The Bible teaches, “In that day when God comes, every eye shall see Him, every tongue shall be made to confess.” 

How are you going to “see” something, but you can’t see?  What does this mean, “In that day, when you see Him, you will be like Him and He will be like you”?  What is the scripture talking about?  This means that as long as you don’t see God as yourself, you won’t call out of yourself your capabilities!  This means that as long as you think that The Master of The Universe is “some spirit out there,” you will never see yourself with the capabilities and possibilities of mastering the very forces of the heavens and the earth. 

You are the natural master of the forces of the universe, but you are going to have to grow into that, now.  So when God say it’s time to “go after the sheep that is lost,” where are they lost?  They are lost in The West, among wolves.  Who lives in The West?  The Caucasian.  Think about this: Anyone with jet black skin, if He comes into that house, they would spot Him immediately!  So the old Christians said, “Prepare me a body, that I may go down…” 

Brothers, this is beautiful wisdom if you understand it.  Here is a Man coming that is going to judge two people, the White man and the Black man.  He has to judge them, so He has to have the nature of both in order to deal with both.  In order to produce one that can get among the devils, The Father of Master Fard Muhammad had to find the right earth to plant His seed in. 

Look, there’s all kind of products that a farmer can produce, but you have to know the nature and quality of the earth and the nature and quality of your seed, and what you want to produce; then, you find the right earth for your seed.  One thing that we have never been taught, as the Honorable Elijah Muhammad mentions it in Message To The Blackman, on “Knowledge of Self”: The White man never wanted to teach Black people the science of mating.

We just lay down and have children, and luck up on geniuses (because we are so great).  But wise men study themselves, and know themselves.  Wise men say, “Well, I know ‘the multiplier,’ now let me study what ‘product’ I want.  If I want to produce this product, then if I am ‘the multiplier,’ and I know what I am, then what is ‘the multiplicand’?”  (Where will I find what I’m looking for to make my product?  For instance, if I know that I am a “4,” and I hope to produce an “8,” then I have to find a “2” to multiply with to produce the “8.”) 

Well, it is the same way in mathematics as it is in life: If I know what I possess, my characteristics, my qualities, and I know what I need, then I set my sight to look for the woman that has what I’m looking for, so that when I multiply with her I will get the product that I am after.  The Wise Father of Master Fard Muhammad was after a product that could get in among the devils.  And the scriptures say this of Him: “He came in sinful flesh to condemn sin in the flesh.”

Master Fard Muhammad, The Supreme Being: The Proof is in His Works

Master Fard Muhammad: A Man, born February 26, 1877.  He is not The Originator of the heavens and the earth; no, He wasn’t here then, but He is from that same line.  However, His knowledge is so great, that it supersedes the wisdom even of His Father.  He is so wise, so says the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, Master Fard Muhammad pictured and extracted the language of the people on Mars.  He spoke the language of the birds, talked to the wild beasts. He knew the language of the human families. I mean, He listened to you think; knows your thoughts! 

That’s no “heavy thing,” when you understand; that’s minor stuff!  But the heaviest thing is to control the universe and master its laws, and make the universe bow to His Will. That’s the kind of power that He has! 

Master Fard Muhammad comes to North America, as the scriptures teach “He came alone…”; and the Book teaches “He would measure the Earth, and tell its measurement.”  When He came, Master Fard Muhammad shot to us a barrage of questions: “What is the square mileage of the Earth?” “How much is the land? How much is the water?”  And He gives the answers: “196,940,000 square miles, that’s the square mileage of the Earth,” “The Water is 139,685,000 square miles,  and the Land is 57,255,000 square miles.” 

He starts running the circumference, the diameter and the distance between the Planets.  He is telling the Honorable Elijah Muhammad: “Look, I am The Master of this!  And I’m going to make you the master of this, so I’m going to give you a Flag that shows a master…  I’m giving you The Sun, The Moon and The Star—and the only man that is qualified to wear that Flag is a master!” 

And Master Fard Muhammad says to us, the Lost Sheep: “And you have to master the law that governs the universe in order to be qualified to wear The Flag of The Universe.  But I am going to give you that because I am a Master, and I am going to make you a master; but before I make you a master, I have to make one man among you a master.  Because, I am half-Original; I have a White-looking face, though my father is a jet-black man, but I’m coming to put a Black head on a Black body. 

I am not to be the head of that body, I am to be The Head of the head of that body; I am not to be the head of that body, therefore I searched among the Lost-Founds to find Me one man worthy.”  And Master Fard Muhammad found a little Georgia-born Black man that only went to the third grade of school, and He taught him three and one-half years, and went away. 

To prove that He, Master Fard Muhammad, is God, The Supreme Being: He leaves a man who didn’t go to school, and that man confounds the scholars with what His Teacher taught him!  To prove that He is God, Master Fard Muhammad tells little Georgia-born Elijah what was on Mars, what is on The Moon, and the nature of The Moon, and how The Moon got to be The Moon.  And the Honorable Elijah Muhammad reveals it, and the White man goes up and bears witness: “Elijah is right!”   Here is a little Georgia-born man telling you what was coming down the pike. We couldn’t even see the pike, much less what was coming!  And every word that Elijah spoke is right on it.  Who taught him but a Master?

Those who say that Master Fard Muhammad is not God:  Then who are you worshipping?  You say, “I worship the true God, Allah.”  Well then, what has your God taught you that is superior to what The Man, Master Fard Muhammad, taught Elijah? How come your scholars can’t handle the followers of Elijah?  How come the world couldn’t deal with that man Elijah? 

How come the White man, who is a vicious beast, brother…  God raised up a little lamb in the midst of a beast, and the beast couldn’t eat Elijah.  Who was The God shutting that man’s mouth, and opening the mouth of Elijah?  We don’t carry no guns.  We were taught by Master Fard Muhammad through The Messenger: “Don’t even carry so much as a penknife.”  And they have attacked us, and we’ve taken their weapons and killed them with their own weapons! 

What God has been with us?  And to prove that God is still with us: The Honorable Elijah Muhammad has left, but he left his word with us.  Now we take the same word, and go right back to what the White man tore down, with hypocrites among us, and we are building it back up, defying the world.  God is present…  And you’re going to see it more and more when the devil starts attacking in the future. You will see that they won’t be able to do anything with Elijah Muhammad, nor his followers.  No, there’s a God!  He is present, and He has power.

Go study into The Attributes and Characteristics of God as found in the Holy Qur’an and the Bible; they will show you that these are not attributes of spirits, these The Attributes and Characteristics of The Divine Human Being. 

God is Ever-Living, that is true!  The Nation of Islam: There is no end to us, we will always be here.  See how cells in the body die all the time, but the body continues?  Every time you get in the bathtub, you see that ring around the tub.  Those are dead cells.  You are alive, but the cells have died; but, they gave birth to other cells. You’re straight!  Well, that is the way it is with God: The body remains, and it keeps on producing one who will be the head of that nation; and that head is always the best knower.

How can you  tell that Master Fard Muhammad is The Best Knower? He is revealing that which no man ever considered before. And when they try to fight it, the more they fight it, the more they say: “Man, He’s right.”

Starla Muhammad, The Final Call (FCN): Brother Minister, why are you so concerned about health, food and nutrition? What do you see happening now and on the horizon? How is this related to the Honorable Elijah Muhammad’s teachings of How To Eat To Live?

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan (HMLF): You asked three questions in one, so I’m going to try to remember them in order.

First of all, it is written in the scriptures that on the coming of God, He would give us life and give it to us in abundance. As you look in your scriptures at the old patriarchs they lived many long years, 300, 400, 500 years, and in the time of Moses, God gave the people at that time 120 years.

And by the time David came to be, the life span was cut down to three score and ten (70 years) and now we have turtles that live 400 and 500 years, we have trees that live a thousand years, but man and woman who are the glory of God can hardly make it to 100.

The reason that we are interested in food and the raising of food and how—and the correct foods to eat—is because that is the only way we can prolong human life and that is the gift of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad from Allah to teach us what foods to eat and what foods to store in our houses.

FCN: What do you see happening now and on the horizon?

HMLF: As you can see, we are learning more of the better foods to eat, but unfortunately our food growth is in the hands of those whom we call the Merchants of Death.

They’re not caring about how food is raised or how to protect the earth and its nurturing qualities. Pesticides and chemicals are being used, hormones are used to grow livestock at faster rates and chemicals are used for the growth of vegetation;

It may look good but in the end the product is toxic. This is why so many diseases are afflicting us. So we’re learning how to eat to live, what foods to choose, but now we must be willing to go to the earth and produce that food so that we can extend our days.

FCN: Can you discuss the connection between developing and maintaining an independent sustainable food source, economics and health as it pertains to Black people?

HMLF: If we go to the Teachings of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, all economies are based on land and what the land produces.

If we now have no earth that we can call our own, then our food consumption is based on what others raise and how others raise that food. So we’re at the mercy of others because we don’t have earth that would give us sustainable agricultural growth and progress.

The Honorable Elijah Muhammad gave us an example—when he was here in the 1960s we went to Georgia and purchased 5,000 acres of land. We went to Alabama and purchased another 8,000 or 10,000 acres of land.

We went to Honduras and bought another 20,000 acres of land and the Honorable Elijah Muhammad had an ad in our paper at that time, Muhammad Speaks, that said we wanted to lease one million acres of land.

Why? Because we wanted to produce a sustainable agricultural program that would give us health, maintain our health and sustain us in a proper way.

FCN: Given the lack of access to healthy and nutritious foods in Black and poor neighborhoods nationwide (also known as food deserts) and the health problems that plague Black America, how should the community respond to this crisis? What should Black leaders and organizations be urging our people to do?

HMLF: Well, many Whites are building hoop houses and doing gardening to get away from the high cost of food and the denatured food being produced that looks so good in our supermarkets.

But in the Black communities, we have what are called food “deserts” because there are not adequate supermarkets bringing us whole food or organically grown foods, so we are living in the midst of death in the sense of fast foods and restaurants that are not producing or cooking and getting foods that are best for the consumers.

In these food deserts we are trying to utilize space in cities that are vacant that we might set up what are called hoop houses. One of the greatest exponents of that is a young man we had the privilege of meeting about a month and a half ago named Mr. Will Allen.

Who has gotten many awards, many accolades for the work that he is doing in the city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I went there recently to examine the work that he is doing.

And the beauty of Mr. Will Allen’s work is not only that he’s producing clean or wholesome fish for the consumer but he’s also producing products, vegetation that is from healthy soil that he himself is producing and teaching others how to produce good healthy soil.

We brought him to our farm in Michigan and he’s showing us how to turn that land and give life to the land that it would bring out more healthy produce for us.

And we’re going to hopefully set up some hoop houses and invite our laborers from across the country to learn how to do it then go back to their cities and produce this good food and fish—if they desire to eat fish—that they may be able to correct health problems and maintain a healthy life if they eat good food and eat it at the proper time.

FCN: In what ways can people with no agricultural or farming background be inspired to plant gardens and practice healthier eating?

HMLF: Just go and look at the food desert and see what you’re eating. If you’re not inspired to want to take care of the life that God has given to you then we’re truly mentally and economically, socially dead.

But if you love the life that you have, your desire should be to maintain that life and to give yourself a healthy lifestyle that will give you longer life. Anyone who is alive wants to have health and well-being.

The only way to have it is to have some of this earth that we can call our own and then go back to the earth and grow our own food, produce our own soil and give ourselves a chance to live the kind of life The Creator desires for us to live.

FCN: We have been “conditioned” to eat unhealthy food; how do we reverse that trend?

HMLF: The scripture says, “My people are destroyed for the lack of knowledge.” We eat unhealthy food because we don’t know what we’re eating and the effect of what we’re eating on the systems of our body, in particular on our brain.

So the only way to change that is to introduce new knowledge, correct knowledge, and when you have the correct knowledge, then you correct your behavior according to that knowledge.

So, the key is making our people more knowledgeable and that’s why the Honorable Elijah Muhammad set up Mosque Maryam and called it, “The National Center for the Reeducation and Retraining of the Black Man and Woman of America” and from there throughout the world.

FCN: Are more grocery stores, convenience stores and corner markets in poor communities the way to address the issues of health and nutrition or is more needed to educate and motivate people to take responsibility for their diets and lives?

HMLF: It would be great if we had more stores in our community servicing our needs. But we need earth to produce the food so the stores can bring the food that we produce to market so our people can have access to healthy food and good food. Yes, we need more convenience stores, more stores, more supermarkets, but what is the root of that? It is the earth and what the earth produces.

We need both. We need the earth to produce food and we need the urban marketplace to bring our produce to the market so our people absolutely can have good food.

FCN: As we know, Black farmers have been battling the U.S. Government to collect money and aid the farmers are due. In what ways can Black farmers and Black communities work with one another to combat these food deserts and to ensure the survival of Black farmers and a healthy food supply?

HMLF: First, if the U.S. government finally comes through and gives them the money that they have earned, that they deserve, they can plow that money back into producing crops for themselves, then bring those crops to the urban centers, putting products in convenience stores and stores in our community, or opening up marketplaces in the inner cities for the products from the Southern farmers.

It is going to have to be through connections—the unity of the farmers with each other, the unity of the farmers in the South with the urban centers of the South and the North, marketing plans, trucking systems, warehouses that we may begin, as the Honorable Elijah Muhammad said, to do something for ourselves.

FCN: And the last question: The U.S. House of Representatives passed bill H.R. 2749, a so-called food safety bill which gives increased regulating authority and control of growing food, storing seeds and harvesting crops to the FDA.

The equivalent U.S. Senate bill S510 was under review. With the passage of these bills, what are the social, economic and health implications on society as a whole?

HMLF: It will ultimately produce revolution. Because of the tyranny that is inherent in such a bill, the people that are suffering from these merchants of death and the quality of food and livestock that they produce are such that the people want alternatives.

With these bills it appears as if the legislation is designed to kill alternatives to big agribusinesses, such as the Monsanto company that produces seeds, and the genetically modified food being produced.

People don’t want it, people want health and well-being so if the government takes that position, then the American people, I believe, when they understand the weight of legislation, may rise up in rebellion against their government.

This kind of tyranny is what caused America to come into existence, and if government will produce these tyrannical laws that strip the American people of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, then the present government will need to be reformed or abolished and the American people are thinking along both lines.

In The Name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful

“My servants, the Righteous,
shall inherit the Earth.”—Holy Qur’an 21:105

Master Fard Muhammad, the Great Mahdi, to Whom praise is due forever, warned us (the Sisters, in particular) about the effects of weighing other than ourselves in regards to living the life and weighing properly. Being overweight is devastating to the proper functioning of the life organism that we call the human body.

The weight of the Earth is constant. The Honorable Elijah Muhammad taught us that the Earth has a weight of six sextillion tons (a unit followed by 21 ciphers). What you see above the Earth came from within it, therefore, the weight of the Earth is constant.

The Holy Qur’an teaches us of a Time when the Earth will cast off its burden. What burden? The Honorable Elijah Muhammad said, “unrighteous people.” The Earth was created for the righteous; the wicked are an unwanted burden. Allah (God) intends to remove this excess weight, according to the Bible and Holy Qur’an, “root and branch.”

The attitude of Allah (God) toward the wicked is the same attitude we should adopt toward the excess weight we are carrying on our bodies. If the Earth is casting off its burden (excess weight of the wicked), should not we cast off ours?

We have overburdened our skeletal muscles with unwanted FAT. Bone, muscle, tendon and ligament are designed to work together in a harmonious relationship to move the body. When we stand, our entire weight is carried by the power of our legs down to our feet. If taxed by excess weight, muscle wears down and eventually falters.

There is a precise, mathematical relationship between skeleton, height and weight. Like the bones, the skeletal muscles range in size and shape to suit the particular functions they perform. Their ability to perform with speed and power can be literally of life-or-death importance, enabling us to move in response to sudden danger.

When it is not overburdened, skeletal muscle can move into action within a few hundredths of a second and, when necessary, support 1,000 times its own weight.

The spine, our most central structural member, would collapse without muscles and ligaments. Health experts blame poor diet and excess weight as primary reasons why the number one daily physical complaint in America is backache.

The hundreds of millions of dollars spent on pain relievers specifically for this problem are misdirected. The human frame was designed to carry a precise amount of weight. When that amount is exceeded, there is a breakdown of the structure that painkillers will never repair.

When you begin to shed excess fat, you take on different thinking, as well as a different appearance. Allah (God) has given us a pattern for Life. All of the prophets gave us Guidance from Him for healthy living.

The Honorable Elijah Muhammad taught us that the brain cells of the Original people are constructed to “think right.” To “think right” means to think in accordance with Truth and Actual Facts. Thinking contrary to Truth does damage to brain cells and impairs the vision.

If we are created to think right, we are also created to do right. Any act we participate in that is contrary to right thinking and acting creates an unwanted burden on the mind. The burden of sin covers the intellect, veils the vision and impairs the power of the mind to do the wonderful things Allah (God) created the mind to do.

It is said that we use only a small portion of our brain. Why? Could it be that sin impairs our ability to use the Power of the Mind?

Paul wrote, “The wages of sin is death.” The burden of being overweight with sin causes spiritual and mental imbalance, then spiritual death, leading to imbalance of the systems of the physical body and ultimately, physical death.

I am appealing to all members of the Original Nation and to all people who desire the betterment of Self, to cast off the burden of being physically overweight, then let us begin to cast off the burden of sin (Transgression of Divine Law).

The mental burden people carry, particularly the American people, has exceeded the natural ability of the brain’s hormonal secretions to soothe and comfort us during stressful events in our daily lives.

There are 15 pounds of atmospheric pressure for every square inch of the human body; but we do not feel this pressure because, through the process of breathing, we are able to exert force from within us that is equal to the force outside of us.

Mentally, however, the burden of sin has rendered people incapable of exerting sufficient force from within to neutralize the stress and tension from without. This is why the Teachings of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad are vital to mental and physical health and well-being.

Let us cast off the burden of excess weight and begin to cast off the burden of sin. “When the earth is shaken with her shaking, And the earth brings forth her burdens, And man says: What has befallen her?

On that day she will tell her news, As if thy Lord had revealed to her. On that day men will come forth in sundry bodies that they may be shown their works. So he who does an atom’s weight of good will see it. And he who does an atom’s weight of evil will see it.” -Holy Qur’an, Surah 99, “The Shaking”

To be “overweight” is to carry a burden that we were not made to carry. Your frame was not made to carry the swill (garbage) that you put in it and on it. Nor was our mind made to carry the burden that comes from sin. The Holy Qur’an says that the Earth will cast off its burden.

The burden that the Earth will cast off is not physical weight; it had at one time more than five billion inhabitants. It is now over four billion, so it is not overburdened with the number of people that are on it, but the kind of people that are on it.

“The Earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof.” The Earth was not made for the wicked, it is the home of the righteous. But the Earth is burdened by a civilization that does not belong here. This is why, in both the Bible and Holy Qur’an, you read of a destruction coming to the people of this world.

Dormant volcanoes are coming to life, burning people up with lava; earthquakes, tornadoes, cyclones and hurricanes are destroying people. Allah (God) says, “I am getting rid of a burden on my earth and I am going to kill human beings until there is hardly anything left, because this Earth was made for the righteous.” 

Now, you and I must rid ourselves of the burden that we carry. If you are awake and conscious, you cannot do things you know are wrong and not bear the burden and scar of your own actions. When you know what is right and willfully go against what is right, then your mind carries a burden. That is called “the burden of sin” and sin produces the death of the mind and spirit. 

The way to relieve yourself of the burden of sin is to recognize that confession is good for the soul. Do not go to the preacher to confess, go to Allah (God). You have no intercessor between you and your Creator. You do not need any minister, priest, father or pope.

Go to your Creator and talk to Him, because He already knows. Then you openly confess. No one has to be there, just you; if you are sincere and sorry over what you did, you will start crying as you pray because you are so sad for what you did.

When you finish your prayer, you will feel clean and when you come out from the private place where you confess your faults, the burden is lifted. Don’t ever go back to that behavior ever, ever again. When you make up your mind and not go back to that behavior, you are free of it.

So, you go home, Beloved, and get that long mirror as I told you to do in Part I of this series. When you are alone, take your clothes off and look at yourself. Make up your mind you are going to cast off the unwanted burden of excess fat.

Do not take any crash diet. That is madness. The excess fat did not arrive in a crash diet. Losing weight is a slow, painful process. Select the right foods to eat and discipline yourself. Say, “I am not going to eat between my meals. I am not going to do it.”

Beloved, there is nothing more powerful than a made-up mind. Don’t say, “I’ll do it tomorrow.” Don’t tell me about “tomorrow.” Don’t tell me about tomorrow, because you know nothing about tomorrow. All that you have is this moment in time. Make up your mind, now! No more swill, junk or filth in the House of Allah (God).

May God bless you with success in your endeavors to do His Will for the benefit of yourself, your family and your Nation.

We are in a very, very serious hour. The sun is setting on this world, and as we approach the darkness of the hour, we have to be much more prayerful and much more mindful of what we think, what we say, and what we do. This is the greatest nation in the history of the present world, and our presence in this nation was fulfillment of Divine Prophecy. As it is written in the scriptures of the Bible, “I did not try you with silver and gold. But I tried you in the furnace of affliction.” We have been thoroughly tried in the 450 years of our sojourn in America and in all of our trials, in all of our pain, in all of our setbacks as a people, we have never turned on Allah (God). Even though some of us have wondered why are we suffering as we are suffering, what is it Allah (God), what have we done?

There is a scripture in the Book of John where there was a man born blind and Jesus and His disciples saw the man that was born blind and the disciples asked him, “Who did sin that this man is born blind? Did his mother sin? Did his father sin?” And Jesus said, “Neither his mother nor his father. But he is born blind that the works of God might be made manifest in him.”

Who did sin that we, as Black people, are in the condition that we are in–having eyes but not being able to see; having ears but having not really heard the word of God that would change the reality of our lives; having tongues but not being able to speak? Who did sin that the oppression on us has been harder than on any people in the annals of history?

There is something about the way Allah (God) handles what He loves. The scripture says that those whom the Lord loveth He chastens much. What is it that Allah (God) wanted from us that He would put us in the hands of somebody that hated us as the racist, White supremacists of this nation have hated and still hate us? How, God, could you tell me that you love me and then allow my fathers to be brought out of Africa and come into something like this? Allah (God) would say, “Yes, I know it was rough on you, son; it was rough on you, daughter. But I created the human being to struggle and to face difficulties. It is only when you struggle, it is only when you face the difficulties of your life that it brings out of you what I, the Creator, put in you. I never meant for you to have an easy time, because you can’t come into Me or come unto Me except you come through trial and tribulation. You can’t come into Me to be one with Me, and I with you, except that you be a purified thing. And the means of purification is not easy.

The Bible talks about gold and silver and their process of purification. When you are a purifying agent, you have to put that which is being purified into the fire and you’ve got to hold it there. You can’t hold it too long and you can’t hold it too short. You’ve got to watch it just right. When the dross is burnt off and it’s white hot but not burnt out totally, then you can fashion it and shape it into what you want it to be. Allah (God) wants to fashion a people to rule forever. This is what Jesus was talking about when he said if you follow him you will have eternal life. It does not mean that any human being will live forever. But, he will put you in a position where you and your people and your nation and your world will never die. We have been living in a world seeing nations rise and fall, seeing empires come up and go down. But, when Allah (God) makes a people after His own likeness, you will be like the sun: You will have permanence and you will be a light for the nations of the earth.

The Qur’an says that the Ka’bah (in Mecca) is a sign. The black stone there is a sign. And just as the Ka’bah had to be rebuilt–it’s an ancient, ancient house, the oldest house of worship known–so are you, the oldest people on this planet, like a house broken down that has to be rebuilt. You are a house full of idols, from which you must be purified. Taking stones and idols out of the Ka’bah is not more important than taking us away from polytheistic beliefs. Taking idols out of the holy house in Mecca is not more important than cleansing the human being from setting up rivals or partners with Allah (God) that are His own creation. It is only when we, as a people, are purified of all those things that are less than Allah (God) that we bow down and give worship so that we are washed and cleansed. The Bible teaches that you can’t put new wine in an old wineskin, lest the wine skin break and the new wine spill. That means we, as human beings, have to be renewed, purified, before that new wisdom can come in. And if that new wisdom is from Allah (God) Himself, and we take it in, then He will be in us and we will be the Glory of Allah (God).

We are not that right now. We are caricatures of what Allah (God) intended when He created the human being. We have not seen what the human being is capable of accomplishing, if we were cleansed of polytheism; if we were cleansed of the worship of things, rather than the pure worship of the one God. That is why we have been in this period of great suffering.

Sisters, you have been in a period of great suffering. You are to us like Hagar was to Abraham— You are running in the wilderness, looking for help because your man is not a help for you. That’s a negative condition. But, when we go to Mecca, we know Sarah was Abraham’s wife and we honor and respect Sarah, but we don’t follow the path of Sarah. When we go to Mecca and run between those hills, we are following the path of Hagar. Why Hagar?

Every woman wants a man that will be as Allah (God) intended a man to be. And what did Allah (God) intend a man to be in relationship to the woman? He said in the Qur’an that men are the maintainers of the woman. That’s a big job. That does not mean just giving her food, clothing or shelter. It means maintaining her in all aspects of her being, from the crown of her head to the soles of her feet. You can’t maintain a woman with physical strength. You can maintain a woman with spiritual strength and with wisdom. She is not created by Allah (God) to follow you with just physical strength. She can be attracted to you that way, but she will never stay with you. She will always be looking somewhere else because her mind is not being fed as it would be by a man who is a man of God. She is created from Allah (God), and the only man that she can be loyal to, and faithful to, and honorable with is a man who is truly a man of Allah (God).

Allah (God) created the human being to struggle. And most of us don’t like struggle. We like ease. But the Holy Qur’an says, after difficulty comes ease or with difficulty comes ease. You’re not going to get ease without difficulty. When the difficulties come in your life, know that ease is coming. You can’t run from the difficulty with a bottle in your hand, or with a reefer in your hand, or with the pipe in your hand, or with a woman by the hand thinking that this is going to console you and comfort you in your hour of difficulty. That’s running; that’s trying to escape. When you’re in difficulty, you must say, “Yes, Allah, I’m going to face it. Whatever it is, I know You are my Patron, you are my Friend, and You will see me through this. But I’ve got to face it. I can’t run from it.” When we face the difficulty with the help of Allah (God), we find ourselves overcoming it. And every time you overcome it with the help of Allah (God), you’ve wiped out another idol. You won’t worship this or that idol any more.

But, you know something? The Qur’an says, “I delivered you from every distress and lo you set up other God’s beside Me. Surely man is ungrateful.” And do you know that the first line of gratitude to show your love for Allah (God) is to show your gratitude to your mother? Whether you think your mother is all that you wanted her to be or not, you are not your mother’s judge. Allah (God) did not bring you into the world to be a judge of your mother. She may be wrong, but she’s your mother. She may not have been able to give you all the things that you needed or wanted, but she’s your mother. She bore us with fainting and pain and she died in order to give us life because the pain of birth is equal to the pain of death.

If you are not grateful for your mother, then there is nobody that you will ever be grateful to or for, and you certainly will not be pleasing in the eyes of Allah (God). You can’t be grateful to Allah (God) whom you have never seen, and be ungrateful for the blessings that He sends to you through those whom you see every day.

In The Name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful.

I am honored to have a few moments to address you on what they call “Father’s Day.” However, The Enemy always has a way of commercializing on our natural love for those who have served us, and served us well.

On “Mother’s Day,” billions of dollars is spent to fatten the pockets of merchants who benefit from our love for our mothers. And last “Father’s Day,” billions of dollars went out of the pockets of poor people who loved their fathers and loved their mothers, and wanted to show in some small way how much we appreciate what our mothers and our fathers have done for us.

But the Bible, in the Book of Exodus (20:12), the scripture teaches us to “honor your mother and father, that your days may be long in the land which the Lord, your God, gives you.”

God didn’t say honor your mother and father “one day out of the year”; but that is an every day work for us to honor our mothers, honor our fathers, and make them to know we love them and appreciate them.

Prepare yourself for the role of ‘father’

My subject is “The Need For, and The Search For, ‘Father’.” Every human being needs a “father”; otherwise, God would not have ordained such. Every human being needs a father, but most humans who are fathers do not generally know how to be that.

We think that the sperm that is emitted which produces life makes us a “father,” but the sperm that produces physical life is what starts a man on The Journey to prove what he has learned up to that point, that prepares him to be a “father.”

The Bible teaches in Proverbs 22:6: “Train up a child in the way it should go: and when it is old, it will not depart from it.” But the question is: What is “the way” that the child “should go”?

Since the word should is the conditional form of the verbs “to go” or “should go,” then what are the conditions that must be present in order for a child to go in the way that it should go? And how can it go that way if mother doesn’t know the way? How can it go that way if father is not there to prepare the way?

So when you look at the word “father” in the dictionary, “to father” something means “to create; to found, to originate, and to acknowledge responsibility.” We call old and venerable men “father,” because the word venerable means “one that is worthy of respect or reverence by reason of character, dignity, position or age.”

Father’s Day… There are too few of us around these days who know the real role of a “father.” Well, how can you learn what your role as a father is? Where will you find a book, or something to teach us how to be what all of us eventually become as men?

If we live, we are born to procreate, so we become what should be a “father”; but because we have never known a “father,” or we don’t have a guide to how to be a father, we rarely become that.

So I thought I would reference the Bible, the Book of Genesis, and see how to be a father: How to be a producer, how to be a creator, a founder, an originator; how to acknowledge the responsibility that God has put on the shoulder of a man.

Since Genesis is “the birth” or “the beginning” of things, then surely we should find some record in here on how to be a father.

Well, who is our example for a “father”? If God made man in His own image and after His own likeness, then The Example of a “father” is God. In Genesis, Chapter 1, it teaches that God “created the heavens and the earth, and the earth was without form and void.

And darkness was upon the face of the deep,” and God went about separating the firmament from the waters, put light in the heavens … . He was busy doing things in preparation for His creatures! God made a way for each creature to fulfill that which nature requires of it.

Now you think about that: There is no “bread line” for worms; there is no “welfare” for sparrows. Even buzzards that live from the dead flesh always have something to eat. Somebody prepared for a creature before the creature came into existence, in order that the creature might sustain the life that The Creator gave it.

The Bible teaches that after “six (6) days” of work—while The Holy Qur’an says it a little different, in “six (6) periods”—here comes Adam. But the thing that fascinates me is that after “the sixth day,” God saw everything that He had made and said (pay attention to His words): “It was good; it was very good,” so He didn’t make a “bad” man; He didn’t make a “bad” woman!

But God, for His Handiwork, wanted a man that is powerful. In Genesis, Chapter 2, He said: “And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.”

See, no man should be without work, because God didn’t create us to sit around and do nothing! God created the first man to go to work and “till the ground.” When you “till” something, you prepare the land for raising crops by plowing and fertilizing.

So God had given man a job; and the fruit of the job would be what he produced from his labor. God was teaching man how to be a father, because no father is better than Our Father which art in heaven.

It is interesting to me that if God made man and said “it was good, and very good,” how did we get into this condition?

God did not make a mistake. He made a man, and the one thing He did for the human that He never did for any creature is that all of the creatures have to obey the law under which it is created. They can’t deviate.

But the human being, male and female: He gives us what is called “free will.” You and I can choose.

A Father’s test for His son

The God, after He made Adam, put him in a garden. That is really nice; fathers should always prepare a place for their children… . As men: You don’t have babies and not the wherewithal to prepare a place for them to grow, and an environment in which they can grow in accord with their nature.

God put Adam in a Garden, and He said to him: “Look at all these trees here. You can eat the fruit of all these trees, but I have one here in the middle of this garden, ‘The Tree of The Knowledge of Good and Evil’—and I don’t want you to eat from that tree.”

Now, I have never heard God talk directly, but Adam had a direct communication with God. Then the Book teaches God commanded Adam; so the first act of God after putting the boy in the garden was to give him a command.

But He also gave Adam free will: No man can come to The Father except he is tested or tried, so by every right, God had a right to test Adam. He gave him everything, so God said, “Now I want to see if you appreciate Me.”

Every father that makes a way for his child should be appreciated for the effort; so God wanted to know: “Adam, I did all of this for you as a Father would do for a son.” He didn’t call him a “son,” but what else was he? When you make a son and he doesn’t look like your image or your likeness, you are going on The Maury Povich Show… .

Therefore, if this one was made in the image and the likeness of The Creator, then in Him were the same qualities that are in The Creator. It’s very special.

God wanted to test him. It doesn’t say “I made the serpent,” but if a serpent was there, God had something to do with that. So, “I am going to see now if My servant, My son, will be obedient to My simple command, to show Me his gratitude:

Son eat of all of these things, but this tree is The Knowledge of Good and Evil, and you shouldn’t eat of it. For in the day that you eat thereof, you will surely die.” It is very interesting that the serpent then comes.

And snakes—human snakes, or humans that have the characteristic of a snake—are always looking for a way to interpret, or reinterpret, a command of God that will make you or me rebel.

Now what in the world is wrong with Adam, that when God gave him all these herbs to eat, all these trees with fruit to eat, there now is this tree in the middle of the garden which he thought was good for food? As though God didn’t give him food!

See, you and I surrender to Satan because he is always offering you something that God has not yet given you; or that God has already given you, but you have “pasted over” what God has given you.

So Adam, a Father to be, was being prepared to be a Father as God was to him, and all of a sudden he finds a reason to disobey. When Adam rebelled he did two things that were the original sin: He disobeyed, and he set up another god beside God.

‘Further what your father’: Knowledge to pass on for future success

To all the men who may be reading this: You can’t be a “father” without God. You don’t know how to be a father or a husband without God. And as men, it has been our failure to submit to God that has weakened us in our ability to be a father or a husband.

When you rebel against God, you weaken your own power to provide a place for your wife, to provide a wholesome environment for your children. Don’t come to church and “talk God,” go back home and live God! The more we live God, the more ability we will have to be a father.

Look at the words “father” and “farther”: When you project the seed, or the sperm, you have furthered your existence into the future. So a “father” has to be able to further what he fathers! You cannot further what you father by saying “I love you.” You can further what you father by doing what God did for Adam.

The Bible teaches that God breathed into Adam “the breath of life,” and he became “a living soul.” The Qur’an says it differently: When God made Adam, He taught him “all the names.”

When you teach your servant the names of things, you teach your servant the characteristics and the nature of things so that what you teach your servant will allow your servant to rule.

God could not give Adam supremacy over the foul of the air, the fish of the sea and every creeping thing that crawled unless He gave Adam knowledge of those things, and knowledge of himself.

So you cannot “further your children” and don’t know how to breathe into them The Word of Life from God. When you know God, know His Word—and live your life according to His Word—then you can further your children by The Knowledge that you give them.

But as parents, you won’t be able to stop your children from being tested; from being tried in life. They must develop The Value System of Christ in their own lives so that they can make a choice now whether “I am going to live for him”—or die in rebellion against him.

Obedience to God is the beginning of The Eternal Kingdom

Let us study Cain and Abel: Cain was a tiller of the ground, and Abel took care of the sheep. The Book teaches that there was “no man to till the ground,” so certainly if the first-born was a tiller of the ground, surely that is an honorable profession.

We all have to eat. If you live on a farm, you know farming is “no joke.” So Cain worked the field, breaking a sweat; and when he got the first fruit of the ground, he presented it to The Lord. And Abel, who was tending the sheep, took the firstling of sheep and presented it to God. God accepted Abel’s work and “rejected” Cain’s.

Now here is something I just want to say to the children: Sometimes you may think mom and dad are “rejecting” you if they show displeasure with some aspect of your work.

They are not rejecting you; but when you see mom or dad make over one of the children for something that they did to please them—because we are human; we want our children to do things that please us… . Well, doesn’t God want us to do things which please Him?

But suppose you do something that you see is good and doesn’t seem to get the favor as something that your brother or sister has done: How are you going to handle it?

In the case of Cain, he misjudged the whole thing. God is so far-seeing; that this is in The Genesis—but He knew way down “The Wheel of Time” that “a sheep” would be “lost.” And “the first born of God” is called “The Lamb of God”;

So God took a lamb from Abel not because Abel’s offering was better than Cain’s, but because in the end, when The Rebellious Day is over, a Lamb of God would be born Who would obey God and become The Eternal Father of a Nation that would obey God.

“For unto us a child is born and unto us a son is given and a government shall be upon his shoulder and he shall be called wonderful counselor, the mighty God, the prince of peace, the everlasting Father and of the increase of his government of peace there will be no end.”

A “failed father” in the beginning; a “successful father” in the end: That is the beginning of an Eternal Kingdom of God.

A good diet and daily exercise must be accompanied with the right thoughts in order to work for the long life of the individual. Thinking properly is the most difficult part of the health equation to achieve, so we are asking the Black Nation to attack that which appears most difficult, which is to develop the Will to be completely wholesome in mind, body and spirit.

Why do I say that development of the Will “appears” to be the most difficult thing to do in achieving complete health? We live in a world where scientists have developed all manner of artificial methods to eliminate the effects of wrong habits:

Pills to stop smoking; pills to curtail the appetite; surgery to staple the stomach, forcing a reduction in the intake of food; plastic surgery to mask the effects of living in rebellion against Divine Law.

In a society such as this, where pill pushers advertise that we can “eat all you want and still lose weight,” development of the Will of the individual to overcome all impediments to good eating habits “appears” to be the most difficult approach, but in the long run, it is actually the easiest and most simple path to follow.

To develop the Will of the American people (Black people in particular) to live good, wholesome lives, is to make it easier to change behavioral patterns that have led or are leading to the general destruction of the health and well-being of the overall population.

The approach of government and scientists—spending inordinate sums of money on health problems—has not worked. We, the followers of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, are proving, with very little money, that we have the ability to change the destructive behavioral patterns of our people, not only as individuals but as a society.

The stigma of hate, bigotry, intolerance, anti-Semitism and violence that the United States government, its agencies and others have deliberately attached to the Nation of Islam is causing the cure for America’s social ills to be obscured while the effects of these ills multiply in diametric proportion to America’s own efforts to suppress the Truth.

If President Bush and the United States government would see (as Pharaoh in the time of Joseph saw) the value of a Divinely guided group of people in her midst, then steps could be taken to take the Revealed Message of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad and solve 100 percent of America’s social, spiritual and health problems.

I am trying with the Help of Allah (God) and the few persons working with me, to produce a healthy community of strong, able-bodied men, women and children who are willing to shoulder the responsibility of self-reliance, self-determination and self-independence.

The American food industry has gone a long way in destroying the health and well-being of the American people by its misuse of the knowledge of chemistry. The addition of coloring to change the appearance of food; preservatives to lengthen shelf life;

Injection of hormones into livestock to produce speedy growth and a fatter animal—the sum of these profit-seeking actions brings in its wake an unprecedented growth of cancer and heart disease, both of which have increased more than 250 percent since the beginning of the century and are now the leading causes of death in this country.

The American Cancer Society reports that more than 35 percent of all cancers directly result from “bad diet,” defining a “bad diet” as one that is high in fat and low in fiber.

The American Heart Association also points to “bad diet” as the “greatest single factor in heart disease” and blames poor eating habits for at least 50 percent of all cases of heart ailments that plague an estimated 60 million Americans.

There are safer and better ways to grow food and raise livestock. These methods may be slower and less profitable, but “What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul (the health and well-being of a Nation)?”

In The Name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful.

For the past two Sundays, I have been talking to you, and to the world through internet, about a human-built planet that is above our heads, made like the Universe. Wheels within wheels. The enemy calls them “UFOs.”

This Wheel was seen by Ezekiel in a vision 595 years before Jesus the prophet was born. His vision has now become a reality, and it has frightened the scholars and scientists of this world, because the wisdom that is apparent from the way the Wheels move tells the scholars and scientists that they have no wisdom, science, or the technology to equal or touch what God has produced for two purposes.

You have heard it said when Allah (God) destroyed the wicked in the days of Noah by flood; and you have heard it said when Allah (God) destroyed the wicked in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah: Water that time—fire the next time.

You have read in the Qur’an and in the Bible of a fire that would burn. You don’t need to look for that after you are dead. If you live through these next few years, you would be wise to try and escape the fire that was not prepared for you, but was prepared for Satan, and all his hosts.

I told you two weeks ago, as I had said it when I made the announcement that Elijah Muhammad gave me to make, that before you can mock me, you would see these Wheels over the major cities. And for 10 days straight, The Wheel was seen over Lake Erie. However, Chicago newspapers; the news media are not talking about it, because it verifies what I said!

The Wheel is there to destroy the United States of America at the Command of God.

Why did God destroy Pharaoh? He was angry with Pharaoh over Pharaoh’s mistreatment of the Children of Israel.

Why is God angry with America? Allah is angry over America’s mistreatment of the Black man and woman of America who are His people!

As I said in my Saviours’ Day message two weeks ago, the Children of Israel are not the so-called Jews. The Bible and Qur’an, from one cover to another, is talking about you, me,—us—that would be in bondage in America under a wicked oppressor for 400 years. And, for 450 years, we have been here in America, and we have caught hell every day of that 450 years.

You may think: “Yes, but today we have a Black president!” President Barack Obama cannot save America. He would like to; he has a good heart, but unfortunately he has come at The Time of the Fulfillment of the Judgment that is spoken of in both these books.

You have read, in both Bible and Qur’an, that we should be looking for a man like Moses. And Moses is referred to more in the Qur’an than any other prophet. Why? It is because the People of Moses were subjected to harsh treatment and torment by a wicked ruler. And the man like Moses would come from a people who are also tortured, destroyed, and turned inside-out by a wicked ruler whose people were wicked also.

In the Bible, Pharaoh said, “Me and my people are wicked.” So, in the greatest nation of the last 6,000 years, here we are, in the worst condition that we have ever been in.

We are proud of our Black president, and the beautiful people that he has surrounded himself with that are Black. When you turn on your television, you look at Black news commentators; we have Black governors, Black mayors, Black police chiefs, Black city councilmen, Black sheriffs.

What do you think they are in office for? They’re in office to show us that we have the ability to govern ourselves if we are separated from our enemies, and have land and territory of our own. We have qualified people among us that we can run a Nation, a government—and even a world!

The enemy already knows this, so today, you are a lawful captive, as Isaiah the prophet said. You’re legally bound to your slave master. You wear their names; and you confess their religion. You’re a White person in Black skin.

They have made us into themselves, so the wickedness that we do every day of our lives is because of our sojourn with wickedness; with wicked rulers that we have looked up to. And through a religious teaching, that makes Jesus a Caucasian; and then call him the “Son of God,” knowing that if he is the son, and he has a father, he’s White, then the father must also be that, so this is a subtle way of making you worship White people, and hate yourselves.

Don’t be afraid! I’m doing the talking. But the fearful and the unbelieving will have their part in the Lake of Fire.

God Himself has declared war on Satan

When God comes, after the workings of Satan, He declares war on Satan. So the Coming of God is the beginning of The Final War.

Do you know why Jesus, The Messiah, is dangerous to Satan? Because Jesus first starts as a teacher, casting out demons. Then Jesus said, “Think not that I come to bring peace, nay, a sword….”

When a man talks about “bringing a sword,” well, you know what a “sword” is. But when you look up the definition, it means armies, where there is going to be violence and destruction, because when Jesus comes, he comes to set in motion that which will bring about the destruction of the world that Satan has made.

This means systems of government, politics, education, juristprudence, religion, art, culture, economics, social system. All of that is already here!

And in the Bible, the man that comes says, “Behold, I make all things new, and the former things shall pass away.” You will not live under the government of America. You won’t live under the politics of this world. You will come out of their educational system that makes you a slave to material things, so that you work more for money than for the service of the people who need your knowledge the most. You will come out of their system of juristprudence. Yes—and you will also come out of religion.

Satan has poisoned all of religion, so God is not coming to reform it—He’s coming to get rid of it all, and set a new thing down! There will be a New Islam! He makes all things new.

Christianity vs. Islam: Which one will survive?

“Which One Will Survive the War of Armageddon?”—this is a question that Master Fard Muhammad asked, where on a blackboard under this question was a picture of America’s flag of stars and stripes on the left side, and the Flag of Islam’s Sun, Moon and Stars on the right side.

Underneath these flags were the words: Christianity vs. Islam.

Islam (The Sun, Moon and Stars) or the Stars and Stripes? The American flag has great meaning, but the Flag of Islam has greater meaning, because the American flag cannot exist without The Sun, The Moon and The Stars. The people of The Flag of Islam are the people of Islam. The people of this, the American flag, are the people of the Cross (Christianity).

Now look at this: America right now is leading the nations of the West—England, the European Union; even Japan, and some other nations—against what? Islam. Master Fard Muhammad knew that America was going to lead the fight against Islam!

Do you really think America wants peace? Do you see what’s happening to your country? I’m talking now to the citizens of America. Do you think that the wise in America did not know that a showdown was coming between them and your God? I want to show you how America is preparing for The Great War, which she has already lost. It’s just a matter of time now.

What is the meaning of Armageddon? In 1972, at Mosque Maryam, the Honorable Elijah Muhammad went into that word: The first three letters, A-r-m, does not mean your arm strength, but it represents arms and armies.

“Armies,” the Honorable Elijah Muhammad said, “gathered together for the doom.” All the armies of the Earth, now, are getting ready.

My dear Christian family, I hope that you will not say that we are enemies of Christians, because the Qur’an does not say that. The Qur’an says, “Those who are Christians and those who are Jews and those who are Sabians, those who believe in Allah and the Last Day, they have their reward from their Lord, and there is no fear for them, nor shall they grieve.”

If you follow Jesus as Jesus would have you follow him, you don’t have to be afraid in an hour like this. I’m saying this to Christians who are White, or non-White. But you can’t play with Jesus, because he’s not to come—he is present.

And to be very frank about it, I represent him.

The Synagogue of Satan

America has now become a “fascist” country. Do you remember how Senator Huey Long is quoted as saying, “When fascism comes to America, it will be called anti-fascism.”

Fascism is designed, and defined, as an authoritarian political ideology that combines nationalism with a corporatist, economic system. Fascists advocate the creation of a single party. Do you think that the Democrats and the Republicans are different?

Who controls the U.S. Congress? Do you think it’s you? Can you really depend on the Senate and the House of Representatives to represent your interests? They’re in bed with insurance companies. They’re in bed with special interests. And they’re in bed with Israel.

Many of your senators and congresspersons are honorary citizens of Israel, and members of the Knesset control America’s wealth. President Bush was controlled! There’s not a president that is the real power! The real power are those money people! Barack is not in power! How dare you think that he could give you what no other president before him has been able to give you, even if they desired to do it!

Right next to the Holocaust Museum in Washington is where the Federal Reserve prints the money. The Federal Reserve is the Synagogue of Satan. They, along with the Rockefellers, the DuPonts, the House of Rothschild: These are the people that have corrupted the entire world. And I am here to pronounce your doom!

You will never kill me

I have to pay the price for what I teach, but you won’t say that I don’t love you, because I’m willing to die to prove it, as well as to live to prove it.

What I said today is a death sentence on myself. But you know, the Bible says, “My father, he sits in heaven, and he laughs at you if you think thatyou can put that small-time stuff over today on us!”

I know that when you write of me after what I said today, you will step up your anger and your hatred of me, and those that are with me. It is written that the Dragon was after the Woman that was pregnant with a man child who was destined to rule the nations with a rod of iron. So the Dragon spewed out of its mouth a flood after the Woman.

The Book of Revelation teaches, “The accuser of our brethren”—meaning the prophets—“who accuse them night and day before the throne is cast down…” so unleash your flood. It will only carry away those who are not firmly moored; firmly settled.

Come after me with all that you have. ButI want to tell you today, that before the week is out, God will answer what I have said today.

He wants you to know that your hatred of me will bring about the death and destruction of what you think you love. He may allow you to take me into your hands—my life, you can’t have. But He may allow you to take me, but you will never kill me. Never!

Recently, there was some wind blowing in New York, and the planes couldn’t fly. There was some unusual snow coming down, where nothing moved; tornadoes; and floods and mudslides on the West Coast. But earthquakes: You’ve been having little tremors. Within one week since I last spoke to you, there were 72 earthquakes that took place. And you haven’t seen anything yet!

There will be more wind, more unusual rain and violent storms. You all better start storing something in your houses—and I’m not talking about guns—I’m talking about food that is non-perishable, because this thing is falling, and falling fast. And when your people can’t find jobs, and can’t have money, murder and bloodshed will be all in the streets. There may come a time when you won’t be able to come to the mosque, but the Qur’an says, “Make your homes places of worship.”

The Honorable Elijah Muhammad said that there will be hail stones coming out the sky like blocks of ice, killing all your livestock! Destroying your homes, and killing anything that it touches! So go ahead and come after us!

I am His Son, so to you preachers and rabbis: Call that blasphemy! And if you go to war with Iran, I can’t be with you, so call that sedition! I am not going nowhere!

According to the Bible, the Pharisees realized that Jesus was preaching their doom, and when they reached out to get him, he was gone.

When the enemy comes for me, know that when my feet are gone, the end of your world has come because God is going to multiply your calamities.

Walking: Complete exercise

When a boxer is in training, one of the first steps toward conditioning him is to raise his metabolism so that he can reduce the fat content in his body. This is done in athletes by running and other forms of exercise.

However, Master Fard Muhammad, The Great Mahdi and Teacher of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, said that the best and most complete exercise is walking.

Some of you may say, “I am only eating one meal a day, but I am still gaining weight. Why?” Because, as we get older, if we are doing less physical work, our metabolism changes and we become sedentary, meaning we are less active.

Consequently, we begin to gain weight. However, the moment we begin to exercise, we raise our metabolism, allowing our bodies to start burning the fat.

However, many of our young people do not engage in physical exercise, so you are young in years but old in your body. You cannot run too far, you cannot walk too fast, you cannot lift too much weight.

Scientists are learning that even the very elderly would not lose the power of their muscles if they just took a 2-pound weight and did a few curls with it. Your muscles will continue to work for you if you will continue to work for them.

My dear brothers and sisters, when you get up in the morning, do some exercise. You say, “Well, I have to go to work. I have things to do. I don’t have any time.” You must take time for yourself or you will take time from yourself.

I am usually up every morning between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. I say my prayers, read my Holy Qur’an and Bible, and study my Lessons. Shortly after 5 a.m., I am ready to do my exercises. I have stopped taking all telephone calls during the hours that I have set aside for myself.

See fat as an opposer

Two months ago, I had a little stomach (much too big for me!—smile). But it is not there anymore and by the Help of Allah, it is never, ever going to be there again. I am challenging all of you who are overweight to get that fat off of you.

Anytime you see an ounce of fat that shouldn’t be there, I want you to see that excess fat as an opposer, an adversary, a devil, an enemy of God’s Gift of Life to us.

I would desire that each one of us take a reading of our bodies and if you have unwanted fat on your sides, arms, back, then you have work to do. Let us go to work on the problem intelligently. Do not attempt to do it all in one day! Do a little at a time, enough to work up a little sweat, raise the metabolism and begin to burn the fat away.

You may say, “I am fat because I have a thyroid problem.” A thyroid problem is a reasonable excuse for being overweight, but even that we can overcome. Work from this day forward to get the fat off of you and I guarantee you that you will feel better about yourself.

You will have a healthier outlook, you will relieve yourself of much of the stress and hypertension that you are carrying and, of course, you will look a lot better.

The Honorable Elijah Muhammad taught us that our beautiful appearance, especially in our women, is enhanced or detracted from by what we eat and how we live.

Tomorrow, when it is time to make your regular visit to a fast food place, I want you to resist and say, “Not today!” Get an apple, orange, some grapes, or any fruit. Fruit is the best food to eat. Eat fresh fruit and the proper vegetables.

Red Meat = Death

Stay away from red meat. It is death for us. When you get red meat down into the stomach, the stomach produces powerful acids to digest it. If you want to see what meat is doing to your stomach.

Take one hand and rub it against the other hand for approximately five minutes—you will rub your skin off, because skin against skin produces friction which in turn produces heat that will burn the skin away.

This is what heavy, coarse meat will do when you put it into your stomach. Flesh against flesh and you wear away your stomach. Your body is the House of God. Keep it healthy, strong and firm.

Jesus came as a Healer. There is the Power to Heal in his words and his way of life and he gave every Disciple the same power that Allah (God) gave him. That is wonderful; and that is not yesterday, it is today. You can overcome any disease or illness that you have.

I am not telling you to stay away from doctors; see a doctor if it is necessary, but do not put your complete trust in a doctor. Put your complete trust in Allah (God) and no matter what the doctor says about how long you have to live.

Never accept it as truth and then adopt an attitude that “it’s over,” because the scriptures teach that where there is life, there is hope. If you adopt the right attitude towards health and disease, then we can overcome every ill and become whole. There is no sickness that Allah (God) cannot heal.

Jesus met a woman and she said, “If I could just touch the hem of his garment, I would be made whole.” She did not reach his garment, but Jesus looked at the woman and said, “Woman, thy faith has made thee whole.”

I repeat, this beautiful body is the Living House of the Living God. Go and make up your mind and never put an ounce of garbage in this House of the Living God ever again.

Away with the cigarettes, alcohol, grease, grime and filthy food. When you look at the fat on yourself, you are looking at Satan robbing you of Life. Get rid of it intelligently.

I recommend that every one of you get the books by the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, How To Eat To Live, Books 1 and 2, follow the guidance you find in them, and make sure you begin to get some exercise. Remember, the best exercise is walking.

In our neighborhoods, with so much crime and violence, I would advise the walkers to meet with your neighbors and walk in pairs and in groups. One day, with the help of Allah (God), the Fruit of Islam (men of the Nation of Islam) will be sufficiently strong to guarantee the return of peace and security to our neighborhoods.
