“They wait for naught, but that Allah should come to them in the shadows of the clouds with angels, and the matter has (already) been decided. And to Allah are (all) matters returned.”

—Holy Qur’an 2:210

It is narrated on the authority of ‘Abdullah b. Umar that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: I found myself one night near the Ka’ba, and I saw a man with wheat complexion amongst the fair−complexioned men that you ever saw.

He had a lock of hair the most beautiful of the locks that you ever saw. He had combed it. Water was trickling out of them. He was leaning on two men, or on the shoulders of two men, and he was circumscribing the Ka’ba. I asked, What is he? It was said: He is al−Masih son of Mary.

—Sahih Muslim 169a

It is in Point No. 12 of “What the Muslims Believe” that the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad boldly declares the following:

“12. WE BELIEVE that Allah (God) appeared in the Person of Master W. Fard Muhammad, July 1930; the long-awaited ‘Messiah’ of the Christians and the ‘Mahdi’ of the Muslims. We believe further and lastly that Allah is God and besides HIM there is no god, and He will bring about a universal government of peace wherein we all can live in peace together.”

In addition, He notes within his very important book titled, “The Fall of America,” in chapter 16, Independence Day: “So, it was with the coming of Allah (God) in the Person of Master Fard Muhammad, to Whom praises are due forever, on His coming to us, on the 4th of July 1930.

His presence meant the destruction of the independence of the white race and especially, America over the Black man. Allah (God) visited the Black slave, for he is more in need of help to enjoy freedom of self.”

Prophecy fulfilled

As documented from the above excerpts you have the reason behind the Nation of Islam’s observance of the day, July 4th. We, the Nation of Islam, are not celebrating America’s independence from the British crown, for at that time in 1776, Black men and women were enslaved in America.

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan Photo: Haroon Rajaee

No, we are celebrating the founding of the Nation of Islam in America by Allah (God) in Person and the Great Mahdi, Master W. Fard Muhammad. He came to declare the Black people of America independent from White rule and subjugation. This aspect of His coming corresponds to the scriptures concerning the Day of the Lord coming as a thief in the night:

“But understand this: If the homeowner had known in which watch of the night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into.”

—Matthew 24:23

Master W. Fard Muhammad seized upon a time when the rulers of America were preoccupied with celebrations of their own independence. He caught them off guard due to their celebratory focus; like the thief who comes in the night while the homeowner is asleep and unaware.

When we, the Nation of Islam, celebrate July 4th, 1930, we are not just celebrating the founding of the Nation of Islam in America. We are celebrating the fulfillment of the greatest of all prophecies; the prophecies concerning the Coming of God!

A critical scripture that should be appreciated is Ezekiel 1:1. It states: “Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the River Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.”—NKJV

Consider how this passage of scripture corresponds to July 4th, 1930.

We gain great spiritual insight into this verse by considering that Ezekiel is a very special and controversial book of the Bible. The Rabbinical leadership of the Jewish community once sought to have this book removed from the Biblical canon.

The 30th year: This verse Ezekiel 1:1 makes a reference to there being a “vision of God” among a people described as captives (i.e. slaves); and that this took place in the 30th year. This corresponds to the 30th year of the 20th Century CE, which is 1930.

The 4th month: This verse makes a reference to the 4th month being the month wherein Ezekiel was among an enslaved people while he has a vision of God’s appearance. I am reminded of how once upon a time when the measurement of years in the Western world was governed by the Julian calendar, the month of July was the 4th month of the year.

This was during the time when the month of April was the first month of the year. Today the passing of years is governed in the Western Hemisphere according to the Gregorian calendar, where July is the 7th month.

This history is the source of the now famous “April Fool’s Day.” For all who resisted the change from the Julian Calendar to the Gregorian Calendar were called “April’s Fools.”

Master Fard Muhammad

The 5th day: Ezekiel 1:1 also makes a reference to the “5th day.” In the Eastern Hemisphere the new day begins before it does in the Western Hemisphere. This fact is reflected in time zone differences and is measured in hours.

The Prophet Ezekiel’s vision of God, which provided him with foresight into the future, details God appearing on the 5th day. However, there is a 7-hour time difference between Detroit and Jerusalem, where the Prophet Ezekiel is believed to have had his vision. This means that when it is 12:00 a.m. on July 5th in Jerusalem, Palestine, it is just 5:00 p.m. on July 4th in Detroit, Michigan.

These considerations help us to see that the Coming of Master W. Fard Muhammad on July 4th, 1930, is the fulfillment of what Ezekiel had a vision of according to the Bible in Ezekiel 1:1!

The Best Knower

In the Holy Qur’an, Allah identifies Himself as “The Best Knower.” It is sometimes an expression of Muslims to say “Allahu-Alam” or “Allah Knows Best.” When I think about Master W. Fard Muhammad, my heart is filled with love for Him.

For even though His work in person among us was only three-and-a-half years, He left a wisdom with us that has endured. We see the daily evidence that He brought to us a truth that is in fact a verifiable body of supreme wisdom. Below are just a few examples:

Dietary teachings proven true: The Supreme Wisdom and comprehensive Knowledge of Master W. Fard Muhammad are increasingly being borne witness to as true by an abundance of scientific research.

His dietary Teachings of “How to Eat to Live” that centers as its primary component the eating of only one meal every 24-hours has become quite popular in recent years.

According to an article published by John Hopkins scientist Dr. Mark Mattson, titled: “Intermittent Fasting: What Is It, And How Does It Work?” the one meal a day eating prescription of Master W. Fard Muhammad has many science-backed benefits. Referring to one meal a day as a form of intermittent fasting, Dr. Mattson points out the following:

Research shows fasting for a certain number of hours each day or eating just one meal a couple days a week may have health benefits. Here are some intermittent fasting benefits research has revealed so far:

Thinking and memory: Studies discovered that intermittent fasting boosts working memory in animals and verbal memory in adult humans.

Heart health: Intermittent fasting improved blood pressure and resting heart rates as well as other heart-related measurements

The Final Call

Physical performance: Young men who fasted for 16 hours showed fat loss while maintaining muscle mass. Mice who were fed on alternate days showed better endurance in running.

Type 2 diabetes and obesity: In animal studies, intermittent fasting prevented obesity. And, in six brief studies, obese adult humans lost weight through intermittent fasting.

People with type 2 diabetes may benefit: Most of the available research shows that intermittent fasting can help people lose body weight and lower their levels of fasting glucose, fasting insulin and leptin while reducing insulin resistance, decreasing levels of leptin and increasing levels of adiponectin.

Mother Plane teachings proven true: Master W. Fard Muhammad taught the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and His early followers in Detroit about the existence of the “mother of all planes.”

He is the first to publicly teach, with detail and accuracy, the reality of what was once called UFOs (unidentified flying objects) and has now been re-branded as UAPs (unidentified aerial phenomena).

Once dismissed as swamp gas and weather balloons, the U.S. Government has now finally acknowledged the existence of what Master W. Fard Muhammad first introduced to the minds of the Black residents of the neighborhood known as Black Bottom in Detroit in the 1930s!

His knowledge of this reality proves that He is the Best Knower among us and the wisest of all scientists! His revealing to Black people in America what the most powerful men in America were ignorant of corresponds to the Bible’s verse in Matthew 11:25 where it reads:

“At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.”

F.O.I. prepare to raise the National Flag on the grounds of The National Center in Chicago.

Original Man teachings proven true: Master W. Fard Muhammad taught the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad that the Black Man and Woman are the Original people of the planet Earth; the first human beings. Now books like Stephen Oppenheimer’s “The Real Eve” that traces the mitochondria; Inheritance of Mitochondrial DNA

Mitochondrial DNA is inherited maternally, meaning it is passed down from mothers to their offspring

This unique inheritance pattern is used in genetic studies and ancestry tracing DNA of global humanity back to the remains of an ancient Black woman in Africa to prove what Master Fard Muhammad taught was true.

We should take note of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan’s 2013 webcast series, “The Time and What Must Be Done” where he publicized the previously downplayed research of scientists who have researched the origin of the White man.

Minister Farrakhan made known how their research is a scientific vindication of Master W. Fard Muhammad’s Divine Revelation to the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad. In part 39, Minister Farrakhan said in part, “Guess what?

The scientists are now agreeing with the Honorable Elijah Muhammad about the time of the White race’s appearance on our planet, and their nature! Oh, so many have mocked and ridiculed Mr. Muhammad’s Teachings about ‘Yakub’; that he said,

‘Allah taught him’ that the White man first appeared 6,000 years ago on an island in the Aegean Sea called Pelan, or ‘Patmos’—but White scientists are now confirming the reality of this event in their history, and this revelation from Allah to the Honorable Elijah Muhammad!

Incredibly, Dr. Jonathon Pritchard estimates that the point in time when the genes of the Asian and European populations were altered was ‘6,600 years ago’—the exact date that the Honorable Elijah Muhammad taught that Mr. Yakub began his Patmos Island grafting process!”

Muslim women salute the National Flag.

The Love and Salvation of Master Fard Muhammad

A most important fact about Master W. Fard Muhammad that we should embrace as a people is His great demonstrated love for us. In fact, an argument can be made that the Black man and woman of America received no substantive outpouring of love and concern from neither Africa, Asia, nor the Muslim World before the appearance of Master W. Fard Muhammad.

The purpose for His divine visitation of Black people in America is now being vindicated. His prioritization of our restoration and renewal is also now being vindicated.

For just a few months ago on March 25, 2026, the United Nations General Assembly documented the affirmative vote of 123 nations attesting to the following resolution: “Declaration of the Trafficking of Enslaved Africans and Racialized Chattel Enslavement of Africans as the Gravest Crime against Humanity”

The world has now born witness that what happened to Black people in America via the Trans-atlantic Slave Trade is the gravest crime in human existence! This vote means that our suffering is beyond the suffering produced in the Jewish Holocaust.

It means that our suffering is beyond the carnage of World War I and World War II. If what happened to us is the gravest crime in human history; then our suffering represents the problem for which the nations of the Earth have had no response and been powerless to answer.

It is our suffering therefore, that calls forth the divine and holy intervention of Allah (God) on our behalf. As the Bible states in Exodus 3:8-9: “And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians.

And to bring them up out of that land unto a good land, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; … Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.”

The Nation of Islam Honor Guard march during ceremony.

We thank Allah for His divine and merciful intervention in our affairs in the person of Master W. Fard Muhammad! He said to the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad on September 7, 1933: “I have treasured all my life love for the lost-found nation of Islam … .”

The evidence of His great love for us abounds in many examples. But to me, I find the greatest demonstration of His love for us in the two divine servants that He has prepared to serve as guides and examples for us.

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in his hadith described a messianic man that he saw in a vision that had a wheat-colored complexion; and that this messianic man would be leaning upon the shoulders of two other men as they circumambulate the Kabah that houses the “Black Stone.”

This hadith, in my humble judgment, symbolized the love of Allah (God) in the Person of Master W. Fard Muhammad, and His placing on the shoulders of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan the weight of a divine mission.

That mission is to resurrect the Black people of America from a place of degradation to a place of divine significance on the world stage; that one day our people would be like the symbolic “Black Stone” attracting the admiration and reverential attention of the nations of the Earth!

All Praise Belongs to Allah! Happy July 4th!

At the very beginning of the scriptures belonging to the Abrahamic religions—Judaism, Christianity, and Islam—are passages of divine wisdom indicating that man and woman have been created in the image and likeness of God. And although the scriptures discuss the fall of man from the original position and condition of his creation, they are also replete with special and important occasions when the Spirit of God found a firm resting place to dwell within a particular man.

Why is it so important for the Black people of America to have the ability to see God working inside the person of one of our own kind?

Just pause to reflect upon how, for years, the idea of White supremacy has insisted that it is only the devil and his evil that uniquely resides within the person of the Black human being. White supremacy and its companion philosophy of Black inferiority have infected every institution within American society. To ponder that the Divine Spirit of Allah (God) can be found manifesting itself in the person of a modern-day Black man as he is used by The Almighty as an instrument to work through, in the unfolding of the divine destiny of the Black people of America, might sound to some as a blasphemous idea.

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan
Photo: Stephen A.

However, the “secret” ingredient responsible for the now famous miraculous Muslim transformation that has become a phenomenon throughout Black America, where heretofore spiritually broken Black men and women join the Nation of Islam and become renewed, restored and polished servants of the community, is found not in the stinging rebuke of White supremacy that the Nation of Islam is known for.

On the contrary, the “secret” ingredient producing that transformation is the truth of Allah’s (God’s) Divine and personal visitation to the Black people of America in the Person of The Great Mahdi, Master W. Fard Muhammad, who raised and taught the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad. In other words, the amazing transformation seen among the Nation of Islam’s membership is brought about by the realization of men and women’s capacity and potential to be divine.

In God’s Image and Likeness

Despite the challenge that such a notion of divinity in man presents, that is exactly what the facts of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan’s life suggest.

The facts of Minister Farrakhan’s life show that the intention of Allah (God) for the Black people of America is becoming a reality. According to the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, Allah’s intention is to resurrect the Black people of America, both mentally and spiritually, so that we would all be reflections of Allah (God).

He stated: “This is what He wants to make out of you and me, not just Believers but gods. Every one of you, according to what He has taught me, will be gods.”—October 8, 1972, Theology of Time Lecture Series

The life of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and his achievements prove Allah (God) and the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad are making the intention to make us all gods a reality. I argue that who Minister Farrakhan is, with his high level of spiritual advancement, is a bold demonstration of God’s intention for us all.

When we think about the beautiful way that Allah (God) has been working through Minister Farrakhan, we should never forget that he began his journey of spiritual ascendancy by sacrificing his extraordinary musical talent. According to the Bible, it states:

“Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.’” —Matthew 16:24

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan was asked by the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad to give up his music and focus solely on teaching the Word of Allah (God). Minister Farrakhan’s great faith and love for the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, and the truth that Allah (God) revealed to Him, led Minister Farrakhan to willingly sacrifice the only means of earning a living he had at that time. And from that point forward, Allah began to strengthen Minister Farrakhan, rewarding him for his sacrifice by making him the greatest helper and Minister the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad ever produced.

According to the Bible, there is quite possibly no better example of God working in a man than the Gospel narratives about Jesus. It is helpful to see and appreciate the 93-year journey of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan by examining how his life serves as an example. His life parallels the life and sacrifices of Jesus as discussed in the Gospel narratives. Below are just a few examples of those parallels.

Feeding the multitudes

When the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad gave the Minister the name “Farrakhan,” He told Him that it was one of the modern up-to-date Names of God. The circumstances of the Minister’s life bear witness that he is worthy of such a name. In Matthew 14:19-21, it was said of Jesus that he fed the multitudes.

The legendary and historic 1995 Million Man March, where nearly two million Black men came at the call of Minister Farrakhan, has been widely considered a miracle. Despite media discouragement of Black men from attending, and despite some pastors discouraging men from attending, nearly two million Black men attended. In the Bible in John 10:4-5, Jesus said, “my sheep know my voice, a stranger they will not follow.” The Million Man March was a display of Allah (God) operating through Minister Farrakhan to feed the multitudes of Black men assembled on the National Mall on October 16, 1995, with wisdom and truth sufficient enough to produce a dramatic reduction in crime throughout America and inspire Black men to register to vote, adopt needy Black children and join organizations to uplift the community.

Water to wine

Legendary hip hop journalist Kevin Powell exclaimed, “God knows, when I heard Farrakhan, I had never heard a Black man talk like that. It blew my mind, absolutely blew my mind, it was intoxicating … .” Mr. Powell’s candid reaction to Minister Farrakhan’s message as being intoxicating calls to mind the New Testament gospels describing how God worked through Jesus to turn water into wine. Synonyms of intoxicating include “exciting,” “exhilarating,” “stimulating,” or “producing great elation.”

Religious leaders threatened his supporters

According to the Bible, in the Gospel of St. John 7:13, it states, “But no one had the courage to speak favorably about him in public, for they were afraid of getting in trouble with the Jewish leaders.”

Compare this scripture verse to what has become known in the modern day and time as the Farrakhan Litmus Test. It might be best exemplified by the case of A-List celebrity actor Bruce Willis who in 1998 was quoted in George magazine stating: “Farrakhan is a hero of mine; if I were Black, I would be with Farrakhan too.”

After Mr. Willis made this statement, the modern-day Pharisees, in the form of the ADL (Anti-Defamation League) and its then-leader, Abraham Foxman, threatened Mr. Willis and forced him to recant so he could continue working in Hollywood.

Stoned for good works

The scriptures discuss how Jesus was hated for the good works that he performed: “Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?”—John 10:32 KJV

In the life of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, he nobly stood in defense of the late Rev. Jesse Louis Jackson during his 1984 presidential campaign. During the campaign, Time magazine reported that members of the Jewish community attacked Rev. Jackson, stating:

“A group called Jews Against Jackson, an offshoot of the radical Jewish Defense League that has been disavowed by leaders of most Jewish organizations, pledged publicly to disrupt his candidacy. Two of its members were arrested for interrupting his announcement speech on Nov. 3 in Washington, D.C. A window in Jackson’s New Hampshire campaign headquarters in Manchester was smashed, and his campaign offices in Garden Grove, Calif., were firebombed. Jackson’s life has been threatened.”

In the spirit of brotherhood and solidarity with Rev. Jackson in his pursuit of the office of the president, Minister Farrakhan defended Rev. Jackson against a veritable Jewish onslaught. The Minister stated:

“But if you harm this brother, I warn you in the name of Allah, this will be the last one you harm. We are not making any idle threats, we have no weapons, we [don’t] carry so much as a pen knife. But I do tell the world that Almighty God Allah is Backing us up in what we say and what we do, and we warn you in His name—leave this servant of Almighty God alone. Leave him alone. If you want to defeat him, defeat him at the polls. We can stand to lose an election, but we cannot stand to lose our brother.”

Because of Minister Farrakhan’s sterling strong defense of Rev. Jackson, the modern Pharisees in the form of Nathan Perlmutter of the ADL and Nat Hentoff of the Village Voice began the public branding of Minister Farrakhan as a “Black Hitler” and “anti-Semite.”

The poor heard him gladly

One of the most important identifying markers of the spirit of Allah (God) working through Minister Farrakhan has been his unique capability to attract thousands of people to listen to him as he delivers profound messages of truth and enlightenment. This was also an aspect of Jesus’ ministry, as discussed in the Bible. According to the Book of Mark: “And the large crowd enjoyed listening to Him.”—Mark, 12:37. This scripture prefigures the fulfillment of the prophetic Jesus.

Compare this aspect of Jesus’s ministry with Professor Mattias Gardell’s conclusions about Minister Farrakhan. In his book entitled “In The Name of Elijah Muhammad: Louis Farrakhan and The Nation of Islam,” he stated: “Farrakhan is able to attract a larger audience than any other Black Spokesperson … . Farrakhan has a unique capability … able to reach deeply into the souls of Black youths … is able to talk to them in a way that really makes them listen … this rapport enables Farrakhan to criticize and redirect destructive behavioral patterns.”

Minister Farrakhan’s mass appeal, particularly among those members of the community deemed most at risk is now viewed as one of the hallmarks of his ministry and evidence of the Divine Spirit of Allah (God) working in him.

Without letters, but learned

The critics of Jesus in the New Testament are reported to have made a startling observation regarding Jesus’ profound intellectual capacity. The Gospel of St. John states: “The Jews then were astonished, saying, ‘How has this man become learned, having never been educated?’” —John 7:15

This is also an element of the public ministry of Minister Farrakhan. Just as his teacher the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad only went to the third grade of school, Minister Farrakhan went to college for three years, but he never received a college degree. And yet over and over again, Minister Farrakhan has proven to possess an invincible truth when positioned against the best minds the American media has produced. He has been interviewed by Tim Russert, Barbara Walters, Cokie Roberts, Sam Donaldson, Ted Koppel, Richard Engel, Mike Wallace, Phil Donahue and more. The educational credentials of these journalists boast impressive achievements. But none of them were able to defeat the Minister’s arguments. This aspect of his has been amplified in the social media viral clip of Minister Farrakhan intelligently and passionately vanquishing CBS’s legendary journalist Mike Wallace. The Minister, as one “without letters, but learned,” was up against Mike Wallace who has the following educational credentials.

“Mike Wallace of CBS’s 60 Minutes also held a B.A. from University of Michigan where an investigative journalism fellowship bears his name. His biography says that he ‘earned 21 Emmy Awards, five DuPont-Columbia journalism awards, five Peabody awards and the Paul White Award, the most prestigious award given by the Radio and Television News Directors Association.’ He also won the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award grand prize and television first prize in 1996, and was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in June 1991.”

Allah’s pastoral comforter

I could not conclude this tribute article in celebration of my teacher on the occasion of his 93rd birth anniversary on May 11, without acknowledging the profound connection to the 93rd Surah (Chapter) of the Holy Qur’an. This Surah is entitled “Ad-Duha: The Brightness of The Day.” It is very popular within the Islamic community, for it is a “pastoral” Surah, in which Allah (God) reveals a gentle, sincere, and emotionally moving message to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). And every believer who reads the 93rd Surah derives great comfort and solace from Allah’s assurances extended to Muhammad that “God’s delay is not God’s denial.” His blessed assurance to Muhammad that his future will be far greater than his past and that despite his own feelings of insecurity, Allah (God) was not displeased with him, nor had Allah forsaken him. An excerpt of this short Surah reads as follows: “Your Lord has not forsaken you, nor is He displeased… Did He not find you an orphan and give (you) shelter? And find you groping, so He showed the way? And find you in want, so He enriched you?”—Surah 93: 3, 6-8

Allah (God) working through the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan has been for me, a constant comfort. When I have felt forsaken, I could listen to the Minister’s lectures and know that Allah had not forsaken me. When I have struggled to find my way, his words guided me and uplifted me. And when I have been in want or need, I could find solutions to apply in remembering what Minister Farrakhan said to me. I thank Allah (God) for blessing me with such a wonderful example and such an extraordinary teacher. He is a modern-day example of Allah (God) working in a man; a profound demonstration of Allah’s (God’s) love for our people and a blueprint for how each of us can rise above the circumstances of our life to fulfill our tremendous divine potential.

As we near the observance of this year’s Easter celebration, also known as Resurrection Sunday, I am inspired to consider the spiritual principle of resurrection as it has been described within the pages of scripture.

Resurrecting the ‘Negro’ is resurrecting the dead

Growing up in the Deep South, I have fond memories of celebrating Easter within the Black church culture and environment. As children, we used to hunt Easter eggs, recite Easter speeches and get new clothes.

Looking back on my wonderful Christian upbringing, I can see the importance of the Easter observance, being an occasion for lively communal worship and the spending of quality time with family and friends.

Now at a more mature stage of life, I can see the need within the Black community to approach the Easter observance in a way that operationalizes the principle of resurrection. The Black community has a need to be resurrected from the dead.

It would greatly benefit us as a people to consider the resurrection of Jesus and determine that conditions such as crime, poverty, poor health, homelessness, and domestic violence are conditions of community death that we need to be resurrected from.

I would argue that Black leadership nationally should pursue an honest and thoughtful assessment of the Teachings and work of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad; and go about the work of mining out of His noble work and Teachings, solutions to all that ails our people.

He stated in the Muslim Program, which graces the inside back cover of every edition of The Final Call newspaper, the following:

“WE BELIEVE in the resurrection of the dead—not in physical resurrection—but in mental resurrection. We believe that the so-called Negroes are most in need of mental resurrection; therefore, they will be resurrected first …”

The powerful words of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad in Point No. 5 of “What The Muslims Believe” should be studied. His words are appropriately paired with the words of the Prophet Hosea of the Bible who stated: “My people are destroyed (put to death) from lack of knowledge …,”—Hosea 4:6

These words are born witness to by many conscientious observers of the Black experience in America, an experience that produced mental death among us, in the form of ignorance and self-hatred.

In 20th Century American life, there was a man named Daniel Patrick Moynihan. He wrote in his historic report “The Negro Family: The Case For National Action,” the following: “That the Negro American has survived at all is extraordinary—a lesser people might simply have died out, as indeed others have.”

The mental death of the Black man and woman of America has been acknowledged over the years. Consider the following observations and insights:

Frederick Douglass stated: “I have found that, to make a contented slave, it is necessary to make a thoughtless one. It is necessary to darken his moral and mental vision, and, as far as possible, to annihilate the power of reason.”

A powerful Virginia state legislator, reacting to Nat Turner’s rebellion, passionately argues for the mental destruction of the Black people of America when he stated the following: “Pass as severe laws as you will to keep these unfortunate creatures in ignorance.

It is in vain unless you can extinguish that spark of intellect which God has given them. … Sir, we have as far as possible closed every avenue by which light may enter their minds.

We only have to go one step further to extinguish their capacity to see the light and our work will be completed. And they would then be reduced to the level of the beasts of the field and we should be safe.”

—Henry Berry, Virginia House of Delegates, 1832

The condition of mental death has created the need for resurrection of the Black man and woman of America. The process of resurrection is the process that resurrects us from a state of existence that caused us to be called Negroes to once again being the Original man and woman.

If we consider that the very usage, by our oppressors, of the term Negro to identify the Black people of America, serves as a “hidden in plain sight” admission that they murdered our minds in order to make us chattel slaves.

The ruling class of Whites in America is well aware of the damage they did to us, because it was no accident; it was deliberate and intentional murder of the mind. The word Negro in English derives from the Latin prefix Necro, which means of or relating to that which is dead or inanimate (non-living).

Necrology is the study of the dead; a necropolis is a city of the dead; a necrophile is a lover of death. From “necro” in Latin comes “negro” in English as a descriptive moniker for the condition White America produced for Black people in America.

Resurrection: We must make our communities a safe and decent place to live

Within the messianic ministry of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, he has trailblazed a history of being an instrument that Allah (God) has used to bring about the mental and spiritual resurrection of millions among our community as well as other communities.

This year, Minister Farrakhan, chose as the theme of Saviours’ Day 2026 message: “We Must Make Our Communities a Decent and Safe Place to Live.” If we parse the language and understand the words and spirit of our beloved Minister, we can see that he is calling us to operationalize the divine principle of resurrection within the Black community to solve the problematic conditions that we suffer from.

In his now historic work of rebuilding the work of his beloved teacher, the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, has modeled for us the kind of qualities we must be in possession of in order to resurrect our communities.

Minister Farrakhan is a model of strength, commitment, long suffering, patience, forbearance, drive and determination. And these qualities that we can easily identify within the messianic leadership model of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan are really outgrowths of his chief quality, which is his undying love for the Black community.

If we love like Minister Farrakhan, we too can be instruments that Allah (God) can use in the resurrection process. In my humble judgment, this is the only way that we can make our communities safe and decent places to live.

Minister Farrakhan’s example is important because our challenge to make our communities safe and decent is fraught with great challenges. Our work of resurrecting the Black community within the current environment within America.

As she is exhibiting all the signs a failing empire, reminds us of the important portrait within the Bible in Judges 14:8. It is in that passage of scripture that we see an unusual scene that most in the world of zoology would argue against it ever being an actual scene in nature. This passage describes a hive of bees inside the carcass of a lion producing honey.

Applying this passage of scripture to our work today inspires the thoughts of America as the lion’s carcass and inside a busy hive of activity—a resurrected Black community working to produce honey in the form of peace, love and justice. Really honey here represents the healing presence of truth and love as the building blocks in the establishment of a righteous “nation inside a nation.”

The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad: First Begotten of the dead Black nation

For the Children of Israel, slavery was death and liberation was resurrection in life. The Bible states they were liberated from bondage because God visited them in person and made a Messenger to lead them.

Consider important biblical scriptural passages like Numbers 12, wherein God describes Himself as singling out Moses from all other prophets as special. He refused to allow Moses to subsist from receiving guidance in dreams and visions, He instead chose to have a personal relationship with Moses; speaking to him “face to face as a man speaks to his friend” and allowing Moses to “behold the form of the Lord.”

The description of God’s relationship with Moses in Numbers chapter 12 is a powerful portrait of the relationship between the man who visited Black people in America from Mecca, Arabia, and His Messenger; I am referring to Master W. Fard Muhammad and the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad.

The Bible in Revelation 1:5 calls Jesus the “first begotten of the dead.” The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad is the first begotten of the dead; the so-called Negroes in America.

The good news is that the Divine Wisdom that resurrected Him was left with Him by Master W. Fard Muhammad so that the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad might use that wisdom to resurrect the dead Black nation.

Master W. Fard Muhammad came to Black people in America as Allah’s Spirit in the form of a well-made man as the Holy Qur’an states in Surah 19:17, regarding Mary and the birth of Jesus—the Messiah. His work among us caused the spiritual “begetting” of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad.

The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad used the Wisdom of Master W. Fard Muhammad to resurrect all who submitted to His Teaching. But the crowning achievement of His resurrecting work was that He produced a prototype in the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.

The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan serve as two witnesses of Master W. Fard Muhammad’s Power to resurrect the mentally dead Black man and woman of America.

And Minister Farrakhan is the prototype or pattern made by Allah and the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad as the standard that all the rest of us must follow in order to complete the process of resurrection successfully.

Those of us who follow His Teachings are no more to be dubbed “Negroes”; for His wisdom and love has caused us to enter into a process of resurrection where we are being raised from the conditionality of mental death that White America produced among us. We are now in the process of returning to our true selves, which is the Original Man and Woman, once again. All Praise Belongs To Allah!

Whenever we are blessed to receive a message from the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, it is an extraordinary occasion that is pregnant with meaning, guidance and commands that we ought to carry into practice.

The men’s class of the Nation of Islam was so blessed on the evening of November 17, 2025, to receive the most recent of those precious and increasingly rare divine utterances from Allah’s (God’s) anointed servant.

During Minister Farrakhan’s message to us that night, he said: “I want you to discover the God within yourself.” Those words shared by him are a divine command; and those words really frame the way forward for us as a people; a people who are tasked with surviving inside of an American society that is day by day unraveling before our eyes.

It is important to consider the words spoken by Minister Farrakhan, the contemporary leader of our people whose modern-day leadership fulfills the spirit, principles, strategies and heart of Jesus as written of in the scriptures.

Changing the Christmas celebration to meet the needs of the times

In 2025, with the prevailing issues within the Black community being as they are: economic instability; waves of youth crime and violence; political upheaval; the curtailing of government support programs ill-affecting many Black households, this Christmas ought to be celebrated in a manner that is in consideration of these prevailing conditions.

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan has for years now advocated that we take a sober, thoughtful look at how we participate in the Christmas holiday season. He has called for an economic boycott of the Christmas holiday season.

The “Up with Jesus and Down with Santa” campaign should and must be continued. The economic withdrawal from the Christmas holiday spending frenzy is a weapon in our hand to “re-distribute the pain” that our community suffers from injustice and continued forms of systemic racism and oppression.

The words of Minister Farrakhan delivered to the throngs of men gathered to see him on November 17 suggest that, in addition to massive economic withdrawal, we must also engage in a nationwide end to self-hatred and the resulting internecine violence [Black on Black violence] that exists as self-hatred’s poisonous fruit.

The love of self flows from the knowledge of self

The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad has written that it is “The knowledge of self that produces the love of self.” And I can certainly bear witness to that profound fact.

Upon joining the Nation of Islam, I was given lessons that caused me to embark upon my journey of faith and devotion with a dramatically improved idea of who I am and what my/our potential for greatness is.

The inaugural lesson (The Supreme Wisdom) we are given asks the question “Who Is The Original Man?” and the answer that is given states:

“The Original Man is the Asiatic Black Man, The Maker, The Owner, The Cream of the Planet Earth, God of the Universe.”

In amplification of this profound teaching, the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad would ultimately conclude that: “Every time you look into the face of a Black man, you are looking in the face of God.”

Far from being reverse racism or false notions of Black supremacy, this divinely revealed wisdom is daily being borne witness to by the discoveries in the world of science, biology, anthropology and the history of religions.

According to J.A. Rodgers’ classic work, “100 Amazing Facts About the Negro”: “Nearly ALL THE ANCIENT GODS OF THE OLD AND NEW WORLD WERE BLACK AND HAD WOOLY HAIR”

Godfrey Higgins’ massive work, “Anacalypsis: An Inquiry Into the Origins of Languages, Nations, and Religion” states: “We have found the Black complexion or something relating to it whenever we have approached the origin of nations … all the deities were Black. They remained as they were first … in very ancient times.”

In 2002, the Discovery Channel produced a documentary entitled “The Real Eve,” which used the science of mitochondrial DNA to prove that all humans on the planet share a common maternal ancient ancestor that was a Black woman from Africa.

And these are but a tiny few of the documented proofs and evidence of the divine aspect of the Knowledge of Self. My belief in it has made me to love my Black brothers and sisters as I love myself.

We were taught to hate self, now we kill self

Historians have acknowledged that December 25th is not the actual date of Jesus’ birth. And nowadays, many are aware of the fact that the Roman government, in its formation of early Christianity, formed it as a hybrid amalgam of European pagan practice and aspects of Jesus’ actual life and ministry.

Custom and tradition, however, compel many to engage in the celebration of Jesus’ birth on December 25th despite the historical inaccuracy of the occasion.

One way we can convert this pagan observance into a righteous turning point is that we seriously consider a proper representation of Jesus as our goal and objective.

Just think about how much “peace on earth and goodwill toward men” could be produced within the Black community if we practiced Jesus’ command to love our neighbor as we love ourselves.

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan stated on March 29, 2009:

“The First Commandment reads: ‘Love God with all our heart, soul, mind [and strength].’ But the Second Commandment is like unto it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The problem is, all of our lives, we’ve been taught against loving ourselves.”

That we have been taught against loving ourselves has produced dangerous, violent outcomes. W.E.B. DuBois once wrote: “Furthermore, to prevent the slaves from cooperating to rise against their masters, they were often taught to mistreat and malign each other to keep alive a feeling of hatred.”

Famous psychologist and co-creator of the inspiring, ground-breaking series, The Cosby Show, Dr. Alvin Poussaint, has examined the science of self-hatred. He writes in his brilliant essay entitled “Black-on-Black Homicide: A Psychological-Political Perspective” the following:

“The Caucasian American socialized the Black man to internalize and believe all of the many vile things he said about him. … Our mass media disseminated these images with vigor on radio, in movies, etc., and like unrelenting electric shocks conditioned the mind of the Negro to say, ‘Yes, I am inferior.’

“Not only have Black men been taught that blackness is evil and Negroes ‘no-good,’ they have, in addition, been continually brain-washed that only ‘White is right.’… Black men were taught to despise their kinky hair, broad nose, and thick lips.

Most psychiatrists and psychologists would agree that the Negro American suffers from a marred self-image, of varying degree, which critically affects his entire psychological being.

It is also a well-documented fact that this negative self-concept leads to self-destructive attitudes and behavior that hinder the Negro’s struggle toward full equality in American life.”

The science of loving your neighbor as yourself

The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad stated in The Theology of Time Lecture series, “I just want to teach you science… .”

A fascinating area of modern scientific research centers around the hormone oxytocin, which they have dubbed “the love hormone.” This powerful hormone is present within each human being. Dr. Jade Wu writing for Psychology Today in her article “The Power of Oxytocin” states:

“Even more incredible is that oxytocin potentially not only works directly on the brain’s pain processing areas, but also indirectly decreases suffering by relieving depression and anxiety related to pain.

Since oxytocin has many different effects on the central nervous system, working through both physiological and psychological channels, it may be able to ease the vicious spiral that people fall into when their pain makes them feel hopeless and anxious, which in turn worsens the pain.”

This is fascinating research for it is suggestive that replacing Black on Black violence with Black on Black neighborly love can have therapeutic effects on our community. There is much research on the science of this so-called “love hormone” and its aiding us in making our communities safe and decent places to live.

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan put it like this on September 14, 2015:

“Don’t you realize that if we stopped killing each other, and found the way of peace among ourselves, that it would be difficult for them to come into our community and kill us—when we have stopped killing ourselves and have found The Knowledge of Self, and are in love with ourselves?

Then if you’re in love with yourself, then you’ve got to love your brother who is the same as yourself. Isn’t that what Jesus taught? … But if you don’t love yourself, you can’t love your neighbor as yourself; so we are filled with self-hatred, and that self-hatred causes us to be self-destructive.”

It’s clear to me that the best celebration of Jesus is to actually follow his commands, and to do so starting first within our own family showing love to self and kind.

Reflections on the 92nd birth anniversary of The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan

What a blessing it is to behold the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan on his 92nd birth anniversary! On behalf of a grateful Nation of Islam, we thank Allah (God) for his beloved mother, Sumayyah Farrakhan, formerly Sarah Mae Manning; and we thank Allah for his father, Percival Clark.

They are Minister Farrakhan’s biological parents, but as time and circumstances unfold, we see more and more every day that Minister Farrakhan is “God’s Child.”

As we contemplate the life history of our beloved Minister, it becomes clear that his life is a life that Allah (God) has ordained and anointed. Minister Farrakhan is a special man who has been raised among a special people.

And both Minister Farrakhan and the Black people of America have been anointed by Allah (God) to fulfill a divine destiny within the unfolding and realization of Allah’s (God’s) plan for the world.

Throughout the years of the close teacher-student relationship between the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, there are several statements and declarations made by the Honorable Elijah Muhammad about his special and anointed National Representative.

These important statements help to show forth the view of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad that His Minister—Louis Farrakhan, was and is the best Minister that Allah (God) had ever given to Him.

Below are just a few examples of what the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad said about the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.

In the Table Talks Project, which are audio recordings of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad compiled by His great-grandson, Nation of Islam Student National Imam Sultan Rahman Muhammad, the Honorable Elijah Muhammad says, Minister Farrakhan is His best helper. In the transcripts of volume one, the Honorable Elijah Muhammad says of his Minister:

“Allah couldn’t have given me a better helper… They can’t help but to follow a man like that! Got the whole big city New York all stirred up! …
“If I was all the other Ministers, I’d take pattern [after him].

Like the Disciples did Paul. Paul was one of the greatest preachers the Disciples had. Well, he wasn’t one of the Disciples, but he came up and beat all the other disciples … .”

Min Farrakhan greets United Center crowd Photo Andre 3X cutout

In the Table Talks Project, the following dialogue between the teacher and His student was also captured in which the Honorable Elijah Muhammad states that Minister Farrakhan “puts everything in its proper place.”

The Honorable Elijah Muhammad (THEM): “Well, my Brother Minister [Farrakhan], you’ve got-a lot-of-things lined up in the right and the most best way.”

Minister Louis Farrakhan (MLF): “Thank you, Dear Apostle.”

THEM: “I love to see you wise because that gives me pleasure because I’m your teacher … and I made such wise ministers.”

Group of Ministers: “Yes, Sir!”

THEM: “So when I see you acting and speaking wise I have rejoice in my heart. I say this is the ONE (i.e. the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan) the world can’t bother. I want to prove to Satan that my minister is a greater light to the world of man than you and your world’s man—the whole of them.”

MLF: “Yes sir. Bless you Dear Apostle.”

THEM: “It’s wonderful”

Below is a recording from the transcript of volume two:

THEM: “Well, that’s what I’m saying I can sit here and listen to you (Minister Farrakhan) and then I can step back and smile. I just need you to be Paul, you know. Go ahead on and put it out just like you are doing.

You’ll put it out, sometimes I sit here—we all sit here and get a chance to listen at you, I listen at you brother, preaching Brother, and you’ll be surprised just to take a peek at the room through your spiritual eye and look at us. We enjoy it!”

MLF: “All praises due to Allah.”

THEM: “You [Minister Farrakhan] put everything in such proper place wherein it belongs. It’s beautiful! So we all is very happy over you, from Allah—that Allah made a helper.”

And during His “Theology of Time” lecture series in 1972, at Mosque No. 2 in Chicago, the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad said the following about Minister Farrakhan:

“I want you to remember today I have one of my greatest teachers here. [Why you hiding behind the sycamore tree for, Brother? Come on ‘round here, up here where they can see you].

We have with us today, our great National Preacher. The preacher who don’t mind going into Harlem, New York, one of the most worst towns in our nation or city.

Minister Louis Farrakhan with his Mother, Mother Sumayyah Farrakhan

It is our brother in Detroit and Chicago, out of New York, but I want you to remember every week he’s on the air helping me to reach those people that I can’t get out of my house and go reach them, like he.”

During the “Theology of Time” the Honorable Elijah Muhammad also stated that Minister Farrakhan is full of Allah’s (God’s) Spirit.

“You know, Brother Farrakhan is a very good minister. He has been with us for a long time and he’s a man full of fire. The fire of the Holy Spirit of Allah. Wonderful minister, wonderful.”

Minister Farrakhan’s value to the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad must be acknowledged as the highest of honors conferred upon him. We should also give due reflection and appreciate the honorable position Minister Farrakhan holds in the Black community at large.

Over the last 70 years of his dedicated service and commitment to Allah (God) in the Person of Master Fard Muhammad, The Great Mahdi and the Mission of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad to resurrect the Black man and woman in America.

He has proven himself as a Divine and obedient servant. He is honored, admired, revered and respected even by people outside of the Nation of Islam.

Below are just a few examples of those who recognize the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan as one of the greatest teachers and guides of the Black man and woman.

“To a great extent, in other words, Farrakhan now is the black leadership—the cutting edge, the storm center, the presence against which others are measured.”—National Review Magazine

“The appearance of Louis Farrakhan at Madison Square Garden on October 7 demonstrated, without doubt that he is now America’s preeminent black leader.”—Julius Lester, journalist and critic

“Smart and super articulate, Minister Farrakhan is perhaps the best living example of a black man ready, willing and able to ‘tell it like it is’ regarding who is responsible for racism in this country …. every black person important enough to be interviewed is asked to condemn Minister Farrakhan… .”—Prof. Derrick Bell

“For the first time in African American history; a non-Christian leader is a significant, if not the significant leader within Black America.”—Professor Michael Eric Dyson

“I believe Minister Farrakhan is the most important Muslim leader in the world, who can best represent the concerns of the Islamic world to our government. I have spent countless hours with him.”—Jude Wanniski, advisor to President Ronald Reagan

Infamous FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover wrote that he was working to “prevent the rise of a messiah” among Black people. For a leading law enforcement official to invoke religious terminology within his descriptions of his counterintelligence program is strange. However, to those who have observed and witnessed Minister Farrakhan over the years, it is not so far-fetched.

“During his tenure and prior to the murder of Malcolm X, Director Hoover often spoke of the need for preventing the rise in this country of what he called ‘a Black Messiah.’ Today, Minister Farrakhan, in my opinion, would be so considered, placing him in great jeopardy,” stated famed attorney William Kunstler.

MLF National Arena Jamaica 1974

The personification of love

Far too often, examinations and analyses of Minister Farrakhan’s unique and phenomenal life fail to account for his sacred qualities. I would argue that these hidden aspects of Minister Farrakhan’s character need to be the leading considerations when his life, work and significance to Black people are weighed and measured.

So, I close this article with more candid, yet profound, testimonies from respected figures within Black America. Their testimonies help sum up the spiritual or sacred side of Minister Farrakhan’s messianic role and leadership of his people. The love he has demonstrated for Black people and humanity is immeasurable.

Here are just a few examples of the exemplary character of this divine servant and special human being.

“There is simply no Black person in the world that has—over so many years—been as consistent, as unrestricted, and as forthright in defending the humanity of Black people throughout the world against its attackers,” said Prof. Andre C. Willis.

“(Minister) Louis (Farrakhan) insisted on getting down on his hands and knees on the floor to take my shoes off. You know, I’m overweight, and it’s a difficult task to get shoes and socks off. And so, (Minister) Louis (Farrakhan) said, ‘I will do that.’

And I said, “No, no.’ And (Minister) Louis (Farrakhan) said, ‘No, I want to do it.’ He took my shoes off and rubbed my feet to get the blood circulating,” shared author and professor C. Eric Lincoln.

I argue that Minister Farrakhan is Black America’s Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd who has proven to be willing to lay down his life for his people!

The man who we are obligated to obey

I conclude with the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad’s words and actions that are instructive to us regarding his Chief Helper, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, from the Theology of Time Lecture Series.

“I want you to pay great attention to his preaching. His preaching is a bearing of witness to me and what God have given to me. This is one of the strongest national preachers that I have in the bounds of North America. Everywhere you hear him––listen to him.

Everywhere you see him––look at him. Everywhere he advise you to go––go. Everywhere he advise you to stay from––stay from. So, we’re thankful to Allah for this great helper of mine: Minister Farrakhan.

“He’s not a proud man. He’s a very humble man. If he can carry you across the lake without dumping you in, he don’t say when he get on the other side, ‘You see what I have done?’ He tell you to see what Allah has done. He don’t take it upon himself. He’s a mighty fine preacher. We hear him every week, and I say continue to hear our Minister Farrakhan.”

So, on May 11, 2025, we thank Allah for the gift of the life and work of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan; Muhammad’s greatest helper, who became the Black Man’s greatest teacher and who is still the personification of love.

“If I was all the other ministers, I would take pattern after Him.”—The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad upon listening to the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan’s radio broadcast lecture (1973 Table Talks)

The Nation of Islam’s annual Saviours’ Day convention has been famously dubbed the “Crowning Event of Black History Month.” It is without a doubt a special time for the registered membership of the Nation of Islam as well as the larger community of our people throughout Black America.

Saviours’ Day 2025 takes on added importance when we reflect that it is a spiritual birth anniversary for the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan. It was Saviours’ Day 1955 when the young Louis Eugene Walcott first heard his beloved leader and teacher, the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, speak live and in person at Saviours’ Day in Chicago.

As described by my dear brother and fellow member of the Nation of Islam Research Group, Cedric Muhammad, on page Roman Numeral 7 of the book “Closing The Gap: Inner Views of the Heart, Soul and Mind of The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan,” conducted and compiled by Minister Jabril Muhammad we read the following:

“The meeting between Master Fard Muhammad and the Honorable Elijah Muhammad in 1931 and the evolution of their relationship was part of a chain reaction of events that eventually included the attendance and participation of a young man—a brilliant and talented entertainer from Boston, Massachusetts, named Louis Eugene Walcott.

At a Nation of Islam event in February of 1955, celebrating the Birthday of Master Fard Muhammad. That annual event was called Saviour’s Day (it continues today as Saviours’ Day).

Although they did not physically meet in the usual sense of that word on that day (that would happen in 1957) the nature of the relationship between the Honorable Elijah Muhammad and the man to whom he would later give the last name ‘Farrakhan,’ was clearly defined.”

Motifs: The pattern of spiritual tandems

When studying the life of men and women of consequence, men and women of destiny, we must always choose the best possible lens, framework and context. The lens through which we fasten our eyes, moreover our minds, upon a thing is critical to arriving at the most accurate and comprehensive view of that thing.

And in as much as context is of this vital importance in looking at and studying “things,” it is exponentially more important the context or framework that forms the lens through which we view men and women of consequence.

Minister Farrakhan’s meeting with the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, when viewed through the lens of the Black struggle in America, is important for a variety of reasons.

A very important reason is the full flowering of their relationship over the years, which has seen Minister Farrakhan as a continuance of the work of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad in the aftermath of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad’s departure from among us.

Just think over the painful reality that has become a phenomenon wherein the rulers of America’s White power structure have always targeted our strongest Black leaders for assassination and the accompanying destruction of their movements.

And what this has meant is that the great ones among us hardly ever have any continuity to their work and mission once they are off the scene. We cannot point to any real successor to Marcus Garvey, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., nor Kwame Ture, or any of our great national leaders.

Allah’s (God’s) intervention is responsible for the continuity of leadership within the Nation of Islam. For when we consider the spiritual lens and context of Minister Farrakhan’s spiritual birth anniversary.

We can look back and see how his joining the Nation was the inauguration of a relationship with the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad as a spiritual tandem worker along the pathway of God for the uplift and deliverance of his people.

The idea of spiritual tandems is one of the recurring “plot elements” or motifs found in scripture.

Author Brian D. Estelle writes on the meaning of the word “motif” in his essay entitled “Motifs and Old Testament” by stating the following:

“… a motif as ‘a discernible pattern composed of individual units, either in a single work or in literature generally.’” He adds that it is basically like a “pattern.” The Oxford English Dictionary defines a motif as “a recurrent character, event, situation, or theme.”

This definition is helpful since it especially shows that a motif can be “in a more restrictive sense (a recurrent character, event, situation, or theme), as well as in a broader sense (a recurring event or situation).”

Collins Dictionary of the English Language defines the word tandem as:

“One behind another; in single file; a relationship between two persons or things involving cooperative action, mutual dependence, etc.”

The relationship of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad is that of a spiritual tandem, the like of which is seen as an important spiritual motif in both the Bible and the Holy Qur’an.

That Allah (God) would choose two servants to work in tandem towards bringing into fruition His divine plan of liberation for His people is seen in the spiritual tandems of Elijah and Elisha; Jesus and Paul; Moses and Aaron; Prophet Muhammad and Ali.

These spiritual tandems written of in the ancient sacred texts of Jews, Christians and Muslims have come alive and leaped off the pages of scripture to manifest powerfully in the Divine relationship between the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.

Space constraints won’t allow us to offer an analysis of just how each of these spiritual tandems from the scripture have manifested within the lives of Black America through the relationship between the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.

However, I will direct the reader to the relationship between Moses (Musa) and Aaron (Harun) as detailed within the sacred pages of the Holy Qur’an. In Surah 28:34-35 we read of Moses’ prayer to Allah that he would give to him his brother Aaron as a helper.

“And my brother, Aaron, he is more eloquent in speech than I, so send him with me as a helper to confirm me. Surely, I fear that they would reject me. He said: We will strengthen thine arm with thy brother, and We will give you both an authority, so that they shall not reach you. With Our signs, you two and those who follow you, will triumph.”

Compare the above passage of scripture—Moses’ prayer to Allah for a helper—with the pregnant words, spoken by the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad in his 1954 Saviours’ Day address; words that upon examination actually comprise a dua (informal prayer) offered publicly by the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad.

“We have been so greatly misunderstood that I desire that Allah send to me a little helper. For 22 years I have worked hard wherever I was or may be to try to get into your ears and into your hearts the truth that Allah has revealed to me.”

By comparison and through consideration of the role that Minister Farrakhan has functioned in relationship to the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad—the eloquent confirmer of his message—we are able to see clearly how Minister Farrakhan’s coming into the Nation of Islam in Saviours’ Day 1955 was Allah (God) presenting to the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad the answer to His prayer for a helper.

The pattern in practice: What does Minister Farrakhan mean to his people?

I would like to invite the reader of this article to pause and reflect on the importance of Minister Farrakhan’s spiritual birth anniversary, and to look at it within the larger context of what the life and work of Minister Farrakhan has meant to Black people in America.

In the 1970s, the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad said that all His ministers should take a pattern after Minister Farrakhan. In 2025, I believe I am justified in stating that all within Black America, especially those in leadership positions, should study Minister Farrakhan’s life and pattern their lives and leadership after his noble and awe-inspiring example;

The example of a young man who didn’t wait until he became old and tired to give his life to God. No, Minister Farrakhan gave his youth to God, such that Allah (God) molded him and shaped him and put him through many trials and sufferings so that he might emerge as a Star of God; a Star without equal.

But don’t just take my word for it. Consider what many critics, admirers and objective observers have to say about the precious value to Black people that Minister Farrakhan’s life and ministry has provided. These are just some of the reactions to our Beloved Minister as he has traveled a 70-year journey along the pathway of Allah (God).

Black America’s premier leader

To a great extent, in other words, Farrakhan now is the Black leadership—the cutting edge, the storm center, the presence against which others are measured.— The National Review, 1985

“The only leadership that now exists in that community—the African American community—is Louis Farrakhan. Farrakhan can assemble 20,000 people several times a year …” —Abraham Foxman, 2013, former National Director of the ADL

“Smart and super articulate, Minister Farrakhan is perhaps the best living example of a Black man ready, willing and able to ‘tell it like it is’ regarding who is responsible for racism in this country. … Every Black person important enough to be interviewed is asked to condemn Minister Farrakhan—or any other truly outspoken Black leader.”—Professor Derrick Bell, 1993

Black America’s defense attorney

“Some of those who stood there, when they heard that, said, “This Man is calling for Elijah! … The rest said, “Let Him alone; let us see if Elijah will come to save Him.”

—Matthew 24:47, 49

October 7, 2024, is the 127th birth anniversary of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad. This most momentous occasion is a special day for Muslims, for the Black community, and for the righteous all over the world.

In thinking about the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and his great value and importance, I immediately become profoundly grateful to Allah (God) for causing the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan to stand up with courage and love to rebuild the work of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad beginning in September 1977.

If it were not for the man who is known affectionately within the Black community as “The Minister,” the new generations of admirers and students of the Teachings of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad would have never been so fortunate as to learn of him and to subsequently fall in love with both the man and his salvific message.

Without a doubt there is no one more intimately acquainted with the salvific power of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad than is the Honorable Min. Louis Farrakhan.

Minister Farrakhan’s love of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad has granted him divine insight into his beloved teacher, such that the Minister’s representation of him is one where we learn of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad through the divine lens.

The divine and illuminating light of scripture is the best light through which to view the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad. It is rather annoying to see many academics or Muslims from outside the Nation of Islam attempt to reduce the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad in their writings to being a “social reformer.”

And even though no man can truly reform a society without Allah (God) using that man as an instrument of societal reform.

I get the sense that those who refer to the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad as a “social reformer” are those who are refusing to identify him in the same way that he identified himself, as a divine Messenger of Allah. Such persons are being disrespectful in the least and in extreme cases are just being flat out insulting.

When I use the term salvific power, I am referring to the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad’s power to save lives.

This is a power given to him by Allah (God) and it is primarily seen in how his teachings when applied transform the lives of those who carry them into practice and cause the adherents to his teachings to avoid many of the societal ills now present as part of America’s internal decay.

Again, an examination of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad’s work among us as a people reveals that he is so much more than a “social reformer.”

The kind of dramatic transformation produced by the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad upon not only his followers but also upon the thinking of the masses of Black people in America is evidence of the presence of his divine anointing.

Over the many years of his work, objective observers have made noteworthy observations of his divine reputation. Some profound observations of the salvific effect of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad upon the lives of Black people in America are cited below:

Critic Daniel Pipes: “… a well-established pattern of African-Americans who, finding their reputation in tatters, turn to the Nation of Islam, which then provides them with solace and help.”—“Did Michael Jackson Convert to Islam?”

Professor Herbert Berg: “Approximately 30 percent of the United States’ six to eight million Muslims are African American, making Islam the second most popular religion among African Americans.

Although the vast majority of these African American Muslims are now Sunni Muslims, many (or perhaps their parents or grandparents) were introduced to Islam through the Nation of Islam, a movement that was exclusively Black.

Its leader for over forty years, Elijah Muhammad, was therefore arguably the most important person in the development of Islam in America.”—“Elijah Muhammad and Islam”

Scholar Essein Udom: “So far as the writer knows, no Negro has ever dared to tackle the bewildering problems of the ‘Negro in the mud’ with equal vigor and such obdurate determination as Mr. Muhammad.

Seen in this light, and in the light of the limited alternatives open to these Negroes, the Nation of Islam, with its moral and economic reforms, provides a way out for these Negroes.”—“Black Nationalism In America”

Author James Baldwin: “Elijah Muhammad has been able to do what generations of welfare workers and committees and resolutions and reports and housing projects and playgrounds have failed to do:

to heal and redeem drunkards and junkies, to convert people who have come out of prison and to keep them out, to make men chaste and women virtuous, and to invest both the male and the female with a pride and a serenity that hang about them like an unfailing light. He has done all these things, which our Christian church has spectacularly failed to do.”

Heavyweight Champion Muhammad Ali: “He was my Jesus, and I had love for both the man and what he represented. Like Jesus Christ and all of God’s prophets, he represented all good things.

Elijah Muhammad was my savior, and everything I have, came from him—my thoughts, my efforts to help my people, how I eat, how I talk, my name.” “Playboy Interview”

I have been inspired and reminded of the salvific power of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad very recently when Brother Michael Muhammad of Athens, GA, sent to me a photo of Hurricane Helene as it traveled over Georgia.

He sent to me a photo from the meteorologist in Georgia who tracked Helene’s movement in the state of Georgia a few days ago. What was intriguing about the image was that it showed the eye of the hurricane being directly over Sandersville, the birthplace of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad.

The eye of the hurricane when it comes over land is the center of the hurricane and is a place of calm and clear skies—a place of relative safety. As a student of scripture, I was reminded of the Holy Qur’an’s insistence that Allah (God) communicates to man and woman sometimes through signs in nature.

And I reflected over how this map image suggests that despite the myriad of storms now raging, as American society unravels, the safe place is with Allah’s Messenger, Messiah, the Exalted Christ, the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad!

His divine message provides comfort in the midst of America’s political storms, economic storms and even the literal natural disasters that are now whipping America from all sides.

Within both the belief, as well as the practical application of his teachings, there is safety from harm and danger.

Long before America received the dubious distinction as having the most violent weather in the world, and the phenomenon of “survival preppers,” the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad taught his followers to store up food, water and supplies in preparation for hard times that he foretold were coming to America.

Long before modern-day scientists and health professionals were advocating what they call the “OMAD Diet,” the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad was teaching His beloved Black people that Allah (God) had revealed to him that eating one meal a day was the best way for us to prolong our life.

Long before the economic crisis and the rising inflation that is gripping the country, He taught us to pool our resources and develop our own economy.

Long before the rise of genetically modified foods and poisonous artificial additives in foods, he taught us to buy farmland and to grow our own foods.

Long before the popularity of sexual perversity within the entertainment industry became a norm, he insisted that the Black man and woman adopt a moral lifestyle and that we not participate in the decadent “social equality” of our former slave masters and their children.

Long before the various state governments began banning Black history in the public school system, he taught us to take our children out of those schools and to establish an independent school system to educate our beautiful and brilliant Black sons and daughters.

Long before there was a human trafficking craze that has included some 64,000 missing Black and Latino/Indigenous women and girls, he taught us to respect and protect our women even if it costs us our lives.

Long before the political divisiveness of partisan politics began to threaten the unity of the American government as we know it, he warned the Black community not to put our trust in the outcome of the National Elections.

When we take into consideration the salvific work of the Most Honorabke Elijah Muhammad, we are able to put into perspective the fascination and adoration of the Prophet Elijah that we find throughout Jewish culture and religious scholarship. Author Aharon Weiner notes the role of Prophet Elijah in Jewish religious tradition when he states the following:

“Elijah’s help to individuals is described as extraordinarily diverse. At the decisive moment, he rescues from extreme danger; he clears by his evidence or successfully defends those innocently accused; he frees the unjustly condemned;

He heals the dangerously ill; he saves those whose lives are threatened in various ways; indeed, he advises people whose fate has already been sealed by divine decree how, by means of righteous actions or good deeds, they may still avert it and live.”—“The Prophet Elijah in the Development of Judaism A Depth-Psychological Study” by Aharon Weiner

It is clear to me that the salvific Elijah that Jewish tradition hopes for has become a reality and blessing to the Black man and woman of America in the person of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad; for in a world of chaos and confusion, believing in and practicing what Allah has revealed to the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad is the safest place to put our trust and confidence. Long Live Muhammad!

We have been blessed by Allah (God) to have lived another year that we might celebrate and express our deep and profound gratitude for the most significant event in at least 66 trillion years!

The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad has taught us that for trillions of years, people worshipped their own ideas of God, but the true reality of God remained a carefully guarded secret. But it is unto the Black people of America that the great blessing of Allah’s (God’s) own self-revelation has been bestowed. For we believe that on July 4, 1930, Allah (God) appeared to us in the person of Master W. Fard Muhammad! All Praise Belongs To Allah!

So as many of us students of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan journey to the city of Detroit for our annual Saviours’ Day convention, let us pause to reflect and consider what might be dubbed our “reason for the season.”

For we are journeying on something of an annual pilgrimage to celebrate the February 26 birth of the founder of the Nation of Islam in America, the man whom the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad taught us fits the Biblical description of “the Saviour”—Master W. Fard Muhammad. Minister Farrakhan has made us also see that what used to be referred to as “Saviour’s Day” should now be known as “Saviours’ Day,” because the work of Master W. Fard Muhammad fulfills another scriptural prophecy, the one described in Nehemiah 9:27 wherein God promised to send “saviours”—plural—to deliver his people from their wicked tormentors.

The suffering of a people justifies a visitation from God

As a student in the ministry class of Minister Farrakhan, the theology of the Nation of Islam is quite possibly my favorite area to study, for it is the area where the divine message of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad makes the boldest, most significant, and inspiring claims! And there is no more bolder, and at the same time life-affirming and ameliorating claim made by the Messenger Muhammad than his claim that Allah (God) has visited the Black man and woman of America, to rescue us and to begin the process of our restoration, salvation, redemption and resurrection.

In a conversation with my brother and friend Jason R. Muhammad of Rochester, New York, he revealed to me an important passage contained within the “Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass.” A shortened version of this quote is below. Douglass states:

“If any one thing in my experience, more than another, served to deepen my conviction of the infernal character of slavery, and to fill me with unutterable loathing of slaveholders, it was their base ingratitude to my poor old grandmother. She had served my old master faithfully from youth to old age.

She had been the source of all his wealth; she had peopled his plantation with slaves; she had become a great-grandmother in his service. She had rocked him in infancy, attended him in childhood, served him through life, and at his death wiped from his icy brow the cold death-sweat, and closed his eyes forever. She was nevertheless left a slave—a slave for life—a slave in the hands of strangers;

And in their hands she saw her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren, divided, like so many sheep, without being gratified with the small privilege of a single word, as to their or her own destiny. And, to cap the climax of their base ingratitude and fiendish barbarity, my grandmother, who was now very old, having outlived my old master and all his children.

Having seen the beginning and end of all of them, and her present owners finding she was of but little value, her frame already racked with the pains of old age, and complete helplessness fast stealing over her once active limbs, they took her to the woods, built her a little hut, put up a little mud-chimney, and then made her welcome to the privilege of supporting herself there in perfect loneliness; thus virtually turning her out to die!

Will not a righteous God visit for these things?”

This very powerful and emotionally moving passage draws from the treasury of the Black struggle for freedom, justice, and equality a frame and context that is ultimately supportive and vindicates in its own way the bold theological claim of Allah’s (God’s) Divine Servant, the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad.

Frederick Douglass’ lamentations over the fate of his beloved grandmother and her victimization in the moribund peculiar institution of American chattel slavery help to make the profound reality easy to see, and that is said succinctly, “the suffering of a people produces the intervention of God.” Consider some scriptural support:

“They wait for naught but that Allah should come to them in the shadows of the clouds with angels, and the matter has (already) been decided. And to Allah are (all) matters returned.”

—Holy Qur’an, 2:210

The LORD said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land to a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey… And now the cry of the Israelites has reached Me, and I have seen how severely the Egyptians are oppressing them … .” Bible—Exodus 3:7-9

In the very excellent book written by Dr. Wesley Muhammad entitled “Take Another Look,” he cites scholars whose study of the Bible places an exclamation point on the idea that the Bible communicates and creates the expectation in the mind of the reader that God would one day visit his people!

“The decisive element in the theophany descriptions of the Old Testament … is the concept of the coming of God; the descriptions of the accompanying phenomena in the natural order are to be viewed as parabolic … but the supremely important matter is that God comes into the world … in the future.”—G.R. Beasley-Murray, “Jesus, and The Kingdom of God”

“The faith of the Old Testament rests on two certainties, equally profound and indissolubly bound together. The first is that God has come in the past, and that he has intervened in favor of his people. The other … is the hope that God will come anew in the future.”

—Quoting Georges Pidoux from, “Jesus, and The Kingdom of God”

The Honorable Muhammad teaches God is a man

The theology that Saviours’ Day celebrates is bold in that it strikes the prevailing concept of God maintained by many of the world’s religious adherents that God is a shapeless, formless, and immaterial spirit. And yet, despite the later theological developments advanced by rulers and religious authorities to make the belief in a “spook”

Or spirit God the dominant belief in the world today, a close look at what the Honorable Elijah Muhammad and Minister Farrakhan teach about the reality of God, harmonizes perfectly with the actual text of the scriptures. Consider how the most integral and important figures within the scriptures had interactions with God in human form. Such encounters have been dubbed by religious scholars by the word “theophany.”

Adam (the first man)—“And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.”—Genesis 3:8

Abraham (father of righteous)—“The LORD appeared again to Abraham near the oak grove belonging to Mamre. One day Abraham was sitting at the entrance to his tent during the hottest part of the day. He looked up and noticed three men standing nearby. When he saw them, he ran to meet them and welcomed them, bowing low to the ground. My lord,” he said, “if it pleases you, stop here for a while. Rest in the shade of this tree while water is brought to wash your feet. And since you’ve honored your servant with this visit, let me prepare some food to refresh you before you continue on your journey.”—Genesis 18:1-3

Moses (liberator of the slaves)—“When there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, reveal myself to them in visions, I speak to them in dreams. But this is not true of my servant Moses; he is faithful in all my house. With him I speak face to face, clearly and not in riddles; he sees the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses … .”

Jesus (Messiah)— “It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true. I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.”

—John 8:17-18

Prophet Muhammad (last of the prophets)—“And there endures for ever the person of thy Lord, the Lord of glory and honour.”—Holy Qur’an Surah 55:27

Vern Pythress in his “Theophany: A Biblical Theology Of God’s Appearing” has stated:

“The appearances in human form have part of their basis in the fact that God created man ‘in the image of God’ (Gen. 1:27). On the level of the Creator, God acts in a way analogous to human action, and his nature is fittingly represented in human form, rather than the form of an animal or a plant.

He speaks, he thinks, he knows, he hears, and he acts in power. Human beings through their bodily actions imitate his actions. Their imitation is fitting, because God’s action is the archetype or original pattern for human action. In addition, human appearances of God have a special weight. Even though in the Old Testament such appearances are temporary, they anticipate the permanent coming of God in permanent human form … .”

Compare the words of Mr. Pythress with what the Honorable Elijah Muhammad wrote in his illuminating book, “Message To The Blackman in America”:

“The Christians do not believe in God as being a human being, yet they believe in Him as being the Father of all human beings. They also refer to God as He, Him, Man, King, and The Ruler. They teach that God sees, hears, talks, walks, stands, sits, rides, and flies; that He grieves or sorrows; and that He is interested in the affairs of human beings. They also teach that once upon a time He made the first man like Himself in the image and likeness of Himself, but yet they believe that He, Himself, is not a man or human.”

Master W. Fard Muhammad’s demonstration of love for the Black man and woman

Master W. Fard Muhammad stayed among us for a little over three years, but the Nation of Islam has continued for the past 93 years operating from the foundation He laid in those three years and the continued guidance that He provides the Honorable Elijah Muhammad and Minister Farrakhan.

In fact, in my opinion, it is what He produced for us in the Honorable Elijah Muhammad and Minister Farrakhan that is Master W. Fard Muhammad’s greatest demonstration of His love and power.

For the Bible states that the people of God, those who suffered and were tormented, have a glorious destiny to hope for; a destiny that involves divine transformation. And among us, the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan have been the first to undergo such transformation into the divine.

The Bible in 1 John 3:1-3 describes it like this:

“Behold what manner of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him. Beloved, we are now children of God, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when Christ appears, we will be like Him, for we will see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself … .”

As the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan has articulated:

“God came ‘wearing three hats,’ one for Himself, the power in which He would not reveal, and hats for two men from the people whom Whites had destroyed.”

Those who wish to falsify the history and purpose of Master W. Fard Muhammad frequently occupy mainstream spaces and enjoy a wide audience. And despite this unfortunate reality, it should be known that the true authority on the Coming of Allah (God) in the Person of Master W. Fard Muhammad is the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, the man whom he trained for three years and four months personally; and his servant that he trained for 20 years and has guided for the past 47 years, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.

I close this writing with some important quotes and passages from the treasury of truths about Master W. Fard Muhammad expressed by the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad:

“HE GREATLY rejoiced over us and was real happy that He had found us. He said that He would make a new people out of us who submit to Him by causing us to grow into a new growth, not an entirely new body but a reversal of the old decayed body into a new growth, which He said would make us all as we were at the age of 16.”—June 9, 1956, Pittsburgh Courier

“No civilized Nation wants the uncivilized Negroes, but Allah, our Loving and Most Merciful God, Who came in the person of Master Fard Muhammad in 1930. It was not until 1933 did He begin revealing His true self; I knew Him at first sight in 1931, for I was expecting Him.”—February 8, 1958, Pittsburgh Courier

“You are alright today if you just will accept your own religion. And no getting on knees to ask for forgiveness for your past. All of that is forgiven. God told me to tell you that He will forgive us all the past; just accept your own, now. Go from here and not think over what happened in the past. You did not know who you were nor the enemy.

So that is right and just that you should be forgiven for that which you had no knowledge of. So this is what He told me to tell you. And since we don’t have to go on our knees for yesterday, be sure that we go on our knees for today. A people that have did everything that the devil did and tried to beat him at some of it, get forgiven for all of that evil. You certainly should be happy… .”—August 27, 1972, Theology of Time Lecture Series

“This is what He wants to make out of you and me, not just Believers but gods. Every one of you, according to what He has taught me, will be gods.”—October 8, 1972, Theology of Time lecture series

“So God and I love you so well that He sent me to tell you these things to make gods out of you. That’s what it’s for––make gods out of you. You say, ‘I know I will never be a god.’ Yes, you already is a god. So I thank you, thank you, thank you.”—July 2, 1972, Theology of Time lecture series

And a special excerpt from a letter written by Master W. Fard Muhammad to the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad on September 7, 1933:

“I have treasured all my life love for the lost-found nation of Islam …”

“Surely they can avail thee naught against Allah. And surely the wrongdoers are friends of each other, and Allah is the Friend of the dutiful.”—Holy Qur’an 45:19

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan has always been the champion and the most heroic figure looming large within the collective consciousness of the Black man and woman of America, particularly since he rose to rebuild the work of his spiritual father, the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, in September of 1977.

Make no mistake about it, we love Minister Farrakhan. And yet we can take no accolades for our love for him. No, we cannot. For it is Minister Farrakhan who has loved us before we ever knew him. The Black people of America have in Minister Farrakhan not only a heroic strong man who loves us but also a man who embodies the unconditional love that a mother has for her children and that God has for His people.

We love him because when we look at him and listen to him we get chills. We are drawn to him and mesmerized by his unique ability to reach down deep within our souls and touch us at our core. There is something special about him that we can describe and aspects that we can’t really put into words, to explain just what he means to us.

Suffice it to say, Minister Farrakhan is anointed to give us sight in the important areas of knowledge where we had no understanding; he is anointed to heal our broken heart that White supremacy fractured as it did its wicked bidding; he is anointed to proclaim for the Black man and woman of America, a divine destiny, and to by the help of Allah (God), raise us from mental death into a new way of life!

Everywhere you go among Black people, and you hear someone utter “the Minister,” it is universally understood to refer to one man, who is beloved and cherished with fondness throughout Black America; that man is the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.

Minister Farrakhan has suffered for more than 40 years, the slander, defamation and character assassination created by those who are best described as simply “the enemies of Black people’s liberation.” But, thankfully, on October 16, 2023, the Minister and the Nation of Islam have chosen to fight in the courts of law, that which we have long since fought in the court of public opinion, and that is the false charge of anti-Semitism being used against us and all strong Black leaders and organizations.

This charge has been weaponized in such a way as to make all who are smeared with it, a pariah in the eyes of the public, one who is to be forever banished to the margins, isolated and cut off from access to mainstream American society.

The most dubious group behind the weaponization of the charge of “anti-Semitism” is the Anti-Defamation League. And it is this group, along with the Simon Wiesenthal Center, that Minister Farrakhan has forthrightly filed a lawsuit against. The Nation of Islam’s October 21, 2023, press statement makes it clear:

“On October 16, 2023, which was the 28th Anniversary of the Million Man March, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam (NOI) sued the ADL, its CEO, Johnathan Greenblatt, SWC, and Rabbi Abraham Cooper of the SWC in the Federal Court of the Southern District of New York for 1st Amendment violations and for defamation.”

In my travels, I have learned that most in the Black community don’t really know who the ADL actually is. The ADL has carefully curated for itself a benign image of a somewhat of a nebulous group unknown to “John and Jane Q Public”—that operates behind the scenes. However, the Black folk who are familiar with them, understand them to be largely responsible for the fact that “if you say anything critical of Jews you get canceled.”

Yet even though most in Black America are not experts on the issue of anti-Semitism, all of us have some ideas as to the role that the U.S. Government, specifically the FBI, has played in the destroying of Black leaders and the destruction of Black organizations.

And I argue that if you really want to be properly introduced to the ADL, then they should be introduced as J. Edgar Hoover’s accomplices in his infamous COINTELPRO program.

According to a January 17, 1968, memo from the office of J. Edgar Hoover, all FBI regional offices were instructed to collaborate with, on an ongoing basis, the Anti-Defamation League:

“The Anti-Defamation League, 315 Lexington Avenue, New York City, maintains regional offices throughout the United States …, the Anti-Defamation League receives considerable information of interest to this Bureau and has been very cooperative in the past in referring such data to us. You are to immediately make certain that you have established liaison with the head of the Anti-Defamation League regional offices in your territory and explain the jurisdiction and interests of this Bureau.”

Writing for the Jewish Sentinel’s January 17, 1971, edition, author J.I. Fishbein wrote:

“The Anti-Defamation League has never denied that it cooperates with the FBI on a quid pro quo basis as it does with all governmental agencies.”

J. Edgar Hoover’s FBI being in partnership with the ADL should alarm all throughout Black America. Their previously hidden role in COINTELPRO is now being exposed and counters previous notions that the ADL is some sort of benign civil rights organization that advocates on behalf of the Jewish people.

We should not forget that the FBI’s hands are all over the assassination of both the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and former Nation of Islam Minister Malcolm X. Many scholars and independent researchers have well documented the FBI’s role in destroying the Black movement for freedom and independence. But what has not been widely known until now is that one of J. Edgar Hoover’s main accomplices in COINTELPRO was the ADL.

Hoover’s nefarious COINTELPRO activities first came to the public’s attention as a result of Senator Frank Church’s now legendary Church Committee hearings purposed to investigate government corruption. From its transcripts, we read of how Hoover used “friendly media” to smear all whom his COINTELPRO placed within its crosshairs for destruction:

“Much of the Bureau’s propaganda efforts involved giving information or articles to ‘friendly’ media sources who could be relied upon not to reveal the Bureau’s interests … the Division assembled a list of ‘friendly’ news media sources—those who wrote pro-Bureau stories.

Field offices also had ‘confidential sources’ (unpaid Bureau informants) in the media, and were able to ensure their cooperation. The Bureau’s use of the news media took two different forms: placing unfavorable articles and documentaries about targeted groups, and leaking derogatory information intended to discredit individuals.” —(Church Committee Report III)

Hoover’s use of media to smear Black leaders and the members of Black organizations is just one area where the ADL conspired with the FBI. The ADL is well known for operating its own network of spies and informants; the work product of this apparatus of theirs was supplied to Hoover’s FBI and he forwarded it on to “friendly media” sources.

In an internal ADL memo, we see the ADL’s role in a veritable flood of anti-Nation of Islam propaganda that occurred in 1959. This powerfully demonstrates their role in defaming Black leaders and organizations in support of Hoover’s COINTELPRO.

“There will be considerable background material on the Temple of Islam Movement and Elijah Muhammad published in the next few months. Almost all of the big newspaper chains as well as LOOK and TIME magazine have used the files of our national fact-finding department, in recent weeks, to get background information on the movement.”

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="716" height="1024" src="https://new.finalcall.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/AP373597467779-716x1024.jpg" alt="J.
—(Izadore Zack, August 13, 1959, New England Regional Office of ADL)

What this means can be best understood by considering what J. Edgar Hoover listed as his purpose for COINTELPRO. He states in his August 25, 1967, memo the following:

“The purpose of this new counterintelligence endeavor is to expose, disrupt, misdirect, discredit, or otherwise neutralize the activities of black nationalist, hate-type organizations and groupings, their leadership, spokesmen, membership, and supporters … .

The activities of all such groups of intelligence interest to this Bureau must be followed on a continuous basis so we will be in a position to promptly take advantage of all opportunities for counterintelligence and to inspire action in instances where circumstances warrant.

The pernicious background of such groups, their duplicity, and devious maneuvers must be exposed to public scrutiny where such publicity will have a neutralizing effect. Efforts of various groups to consolidate (unify) their forces or to recruit new or youthful adherents must be frustrated.”

“No opportunity should be missed to exploit through counterintelligence techniques the organizational and personal conflicts of the leaderships of the groups and where possible an effort should be made to capitalize upon existing conflicts between competing black nationalist organizations.

When an opportunity is apparent to disrupt or neutralize black nationalist, hate type organizations through the cooperation of established local news media contacts or through such contact with sources available to the Seat of Government, in every instance careful attention must be given to the proposal to insure the targeted group is disrupted and not merely publicized … .”

For all of these activities aimed at the destruction of the movement for Black freedom and independence, the Anti-Defamation League was J. Edgar Hoover’s partner. Yet they have never been held up to the scrutiny and accountability for the role that they have played in sabotaging the Black man and woman’s legitimate struggle for freedom and justice.

Enormous gratitude and appreciation are due to the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and his legal team for holding the ADL accountable for the harm they have inflicted on the Black people of America.

The Minister has done this in front of audiences large and small over many years, but now this fight has entered into the arena of the courts of law and we are grateful for the opportunity to prove that truth is now and has always been on our side.

“It is foolish to the Jews, who ask for signs from heaven. And it is foolish to the Greeks, who seek human wisdom. … This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God’s weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength. Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world’s eyes or powerful or wealthy when God called you. Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important.”—1 Corinthians 1:22,25-28

Many politically astute news-conscious Black folk have recently become outraged as a result of statements made by Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee. Her administration, similar to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ administration, has ushered forth a vigilance against what has been dubbed “woke” public school curriculums. Gov. Huckabee has instructed her Department of Education to drop AP African American Studies classes and she has stated:

“We cannot perpetuate a lie to our students and push this propaganda leftist agenda teaching our kids to hate America and hate one another.”

The governor’s juxtaposition of the teaching of Black (African American) History with the teaching of hate is a false equivalency. But it is not a new or novel reaction to the sharing of Black History with Black people. It is reminiscent of the criticisms of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and His “Message to the Black people of America.”

The powerful and transformative life-giving Teachings of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad have been falsely labeled as “hate teachings” for many years by those who are afraid of what Black people will do if the masses of us ever realized the severity of what was done to us in America during slavery and beyond.

The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad’s best student and National Representative, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, has offered insight into this kind of toxic reaction to the teaching of true Black History to our people in the following profound statement.

The Minister has stated that:

“The White man of America is possessed of the mind of Cain. For when Cain killed Abel, he said to himself ‘Now every man that sees me will slay me.’”

So just as Cain became deathly afraid of his sins being exposed, the White ruling class in America is afraid of their sins being exposed to Black people; they are all but consumed by the fear of retaliation.

Yet over and over again, the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and Minister Farrakhan have successfully channeled any negative emotions that have arisen among our people, as a result of learning the truth of our suffering, into the constructive work of self-development and the building of an independent Nation.

Juxtapose the mass rallies conducted by the Nation of Islam to the January 6siege of the U.S. Capitol by former President Trump and his supporters. They lost an election and organized to retaliate against the seat of the American government. This is something never seen in the aftermath of any of the Nation of Islam’s mass gatherings.

Recently I purchased a book, written by two Yale Law School professors. The book is written by the married duo of Professors Amy Chua and Jed Rubenfeld. The couple, who are both attorneys, Ivy League professors, and legal scholars, published a controversial best-seller back in 2015 titled “The Triple Package: How 3 Unlikely Traits Explain the Rise and Fall of Cultural Groups in America.”

I am drawn to their research findings and conclusions because they offer a rather important vindication of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad’s message that students of Minister Farrakhan who love the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad may use to defend it against the charge that Muhammad’s message is “hate teachings” or that Muhammad is guilty of teaching “Black supremacy.”

According to Chua and Rubenfeld:

“It may be taboo to say so, but some groups in this country do better than others. Mormons, Cuban, Nigerian, and Chinese Americans have all recently achieved astonishing business success. Why do these groups and other groups come out on top? That certain groups do much better in America than others—as measured by income, occupational status, test scores, and so on—is difficult to talk about. In large part this is because the topic feels racially charged.”

The research findings of Chua and Rubenfeld have identified “The Triple Package” of cultural traits that are responsible for collective group success and upward mobility in American society as being: a superiority complex; insecurity and impulse control.

Chua and Rubenfeld write powerfully:

“Superiority Complex: This element of the Triple Package is the easiest to define; a deeply internalized belief in your group’s specialness, exceptionality, or superiority. This belief can derive from widely varying sources. It can be religious … it can be rooted in a story about he magnificence of your people’s history and civilization…it can be based on identity defining social distinctions that most Americans have never even heard of … or it can be a mix.

A crucial point about the Superiority Complex is that it is anti-thetical to mainstream liberal thinking, which teaches us to refrain from judging any individual or any life to be better than another.

Everyone is equal to everyone else. And if individual superiority judgments are frowned on, group superiority judgments are anathema. Group superiority is the stuff of racism, colonialism, imperialism, Nazism. Yet every one of America’s extremely successful groups fosters a belief in its own superiority.”

How do these findings relate to the majestic message of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad? His Teachings are falsely labeled as “hate teachings” and sometimes as “Black Supremacy.” Yet according to these esteemed researchers, the most successful groups in America maintain a private teaching and resulting belief in their superiority over others and they are never labeled as “supremacists.”

In fact, they are sometimes a part of the “model minority” stereotype; but in no public way are immigrant groups condemned for their beliefs like the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and his followers are.

They are allowed to practice and benefit from their respective teachings that uplift and empower their people. But it is the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and Minister Farrakhan who are condemned and slandered when they teach the divinely revealed message of the uplift of the Black man and woman of America.

What the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad teaches to His beloved Black people in America is divine truth revealed to Him by Allah, Who appeared in the Person of Master W. Fard Muhammad!

It is not Black Supremacy or racism and has not ever produced anything approaching colonialism, imperialism or Nazism. He has taught us that we are the Original People of the planet Earth. He teaches that the Original Man—the first human being—is Allah (God) Himself, the Maker, the Owner, the Cream of the Planet Earth and God of the Universe; and that we descend directly from Allah (God)!

He has taught to the Black people in America that we are in fact the Asiatic Black People and are the Creator’s Nation! Muhammad has taught that we as a people are the fathers and mothers of civilization!

His Teachings though falsely dubbed as “Black supremacy,’ are in fact a verifiable body of divine wisdom and truth. At the heart of the criticisms of His divine message is the fact that they serve as powerful iconoclasts to the notion that Black people descended from Ham, the cursed son of the Prophet Noah.

His Teachings necessarily break the mind-enslaving teachings that the Black people of America were saved from a life of savagery in Africa by God-fearing Christian White folks who brought us to America. His Teachings provide the accurate history of the Black man before we were enslaved in America and before we conquered the jungles of Africa; His message is the root knowledge from which many branch fields of study exist.

The Most Honorable Elijah Muhamad writes on page 32 of “Message To The Blackman”:

“We are the mighty, the wise, the best, but do not know it.”

If we are to believe Chua and Rubenfeld, we must conclude that what the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad has given to Black people in America is the kind of knowledge wisdom and understanding that is the key to Black People’s collective achievement of wealth and power.

However, as they point out, what successful groups teach and believe about themselves conflicts with popular and widely accepted liberal thinking, something of a “pollyanna-ish” concoction meant to inhibit Black empowerment instead of facilitating it! This reminds me of when J. Edgar Hoover looked at the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as a candidate for the role of Messiah among Black People. He felt that Dr. King could only fulfill that role if he abandoned his obedience to White liberal doctrines.

Space constraints do not permit me to show how the other two elements of what Chua and Rubenfeld call the “Triple Package” are also component parts of the message of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, however, it most likely will be included in one of my next lectures.

As we celebrate the 126th birth anniversary of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad we should reflect on the power of what He gave to us, and apply it in every area of our lives.

Many once called Muhammad’s Message foolishness, hate teaching and Black Supremacy, yet nowadays we can easily see how Allah (God) is causing time and circumstances to band together in a grand conspiracy to vindicate the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and his bold teaching, while exposing it as the path that the masses of Black people need to follow.

We are now some 59 years since integration. And yet metrics that measure quality of life and success show the Black community’s continued endurance of the unending problems of police brutality; a widening wealth gap; a lack of access to quality health care; rising infant mortality rates; disproportionate jail and imprisonment rates among our males.

We thank Allah (God) for giving to us the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, whose great commission has been made known by His best student and helper the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan! Black leaders throughout America should now sit with Min. Farrakhan and carve out a plan to make Muhammad’s life-giving and life-saving message the widely spread and implemented program that it must needs be, in order for the survival of our people into the future!
